《The Lilly Within the Ashes》Ch 23

"SOME ONE! PLEASE HELP!" I'm screaming so loud my throat burns and I lost the common knowledge of breathing. A group of nurses come running up to me while I was trying to calm down the bleeding on Lilly's head wound. "Sir we need you to tell us what happened so we can help you." I could barely get the words out of my mouth for I felt a panic attack rising. "Head.....Gun...." The nurse nods her head and has me place her on a stretcher. Before I could place her down all the way, the group of nurses start to push her away. I grab the cold hand of my Angel's but before I could pass through the doors, a male nurse stops me. "I'm sorry sir, she will be taken care of, but we can't have you enter." The once slowly rising panic attack hits me full force.
I gasped for air, trying to bring in oxygen for my starving lungs. Nausea and faintness swoop through me, invading the rest of my senses. Before I could pass out, I felt a pair of arms hold on to my shoulders. "Sir? Are you okay?" I look and see the male nurse, his eyes wide with worry. Although I knew he was trying to calm me down, his hands felt like poison on my skin. He wasn't Lilly. Her touch filled me with ease and relaxation. Unable to control myself, I shove him to the ground and run outside to the front of the hospital like a mad-man. Caked in blood, sweating, and tears coating my cheeks.
I don't know how long I sat on the random bench near the entrance, but I was able to calm my breathing. "Boss, Lilly is almost done with surgery." I look up to see Vincent looking down at my panic self. "She had surgery? Is she okay?" He slowly nodded his head. I sigh. I now know my flower is going to be okay. "Um, boss?" I look back at the idiot that was still standing in front of me.

He gave me a scared look. Not one where he knew he was going to be scolded, but of one that showed pain. "Well? Spit it out Vincent!" He cleared his throat, sweat running down his brow. "I was on the phone with Anthony. He was about to tell me something but the call got cut off. I soon found out that the house had a bomb plant-" Before he could finish, an ambulance drove by and out came Anthony on a stretcher.
He was painted with blood. His right leg looked liked it was mauled and his breathing came out into wheezes. I sprinted back inside the hospital, having to go through my nightmare again. But this time it was my best friend. I couldn't reach him by the time they rolled him through the doors. "What the fuck happened Vincent?" I was still glaring at those stupid doors, yearning to walk through them. "Someone plan-planted a bomb. Only fif-fifteen of our men survived."
My heart sunk and felt myself collapse into one of the rock hard waiting room chairs.Just exhausted. Although I had won, it felt like the complete opposite. I almost lost the love of my life, might loose my best friend, lost about half of my men, and my home was now destroyed.
Vincent continued to explain that the men, that were with us, were returning to the cabin to hold Michael captive. He also informed me Maria was a mole. They are still unsure on the reasoning behind her disloyalty, but we should receive word soon. Before I could flip any tables or chairs, my name was called.
----------------------------------------------------
She looked calm.
The doctor informed me that she should wake up in a couple of hours once the meds wore off. The bullet did skim the back of her head, but it also left her skull fractured. This caused blood to enter her brain cavity and it had to be drained. Large amounts of blood was lost so she would be tired for the next couple of days, but surprisingly she only received seven staples and a plate in the back of her head. The doctor soon left, and I was alone with my Angel.

I had Vincent leave for the cabin under my specific instructions to keep my brother and Maria alive. I planned on beating the shit out of them once Lilly and Anthony were better. Another doctor came in ,right after Vincent left, to let me know Anthony was going to be okay. He was burned on the right side of his body and the worst thing was his right leg was amputated, and he came in with half of his right pinky missing. Knowing that the only thing he lost was his leg and finger, I broke down for the umpteenth time. My love and best friend lived.
Shooting waves of pain traveled through my head. Wincing through the pain, I felt a hard hold on my hand. Ripping open my eyes, I see a sleeping Jason sitting between me and another bed with a person that seemed to be wrapped from head to toe in bandages.
"Just get in the bed Jason." I groan. The once sleeping man shoots up from his chair with eyes the size of saucers. "Oh my god! You-you're up!" He was dragging his hands through his hair staring at me in shock. He sported a blinding smile with tears rolling down his face. "Jason calm down. What's going on?" He sat himself on the bed and grabbed my hand like it was his life support. "You su-sure you want to know right now?" I nodded my head with a small smile, letting him know it was okay.
"Micheal was going against our agreement and tried to kill you. The bullet grazed the back of your head. It fractured your skull and you lost some blood. Some even got into your brain cavity. You have a plate and a couple of stitches, but the doctor said you should only be drowsy and have headaches for a couple of days." I nodded trying to seem calm. Inside I was freaking out, but I needed to be calm for Jason. My 'calm' was thrown out the window once he told me what happened to the house. I shot up from the bed wanting to see if Anthony was okay.
Before I could sit up all of the way, another blinding wave of pain shot through my head. Jason slowly helped me lay back down. "Anthony was wounded but is alive." He continued on the extent of his injuries and the sobs that racked my body could have been heard from the room next door. It was even worse when he told me the bandaged man in the room was Anthony.
I look of realization appears on Jason's face after I finally calmed down. "Shit."he murmured. I was confused until he pushed the help button. The doctor soon arrived and ran through everything that Jason informed me about my injuries. He changed my dressings and told me I could eat the following morning.
The room was filled with silence once the doctor left. Both of us unsure what to say. I decided to close my eyes to ease the burning headache but heard sniffling, causing my eyes to shoot back open. Jason sat staring at me, about read to sob. I reach my arms out, offering a hug. He pounced on top of me, forcing the air out of my lungs. Instead of mine this time, his sobs echoed through the room. "Shhhh. I'm here. Anthony is here. You were so strong Jason and I'm so proud of you." My words only seemed to worsen his cries, so I just held onto him, letting him let it out.
Jason fell asleep after crying. I begged him to sleep with me on the bed, but he was to scared to hurt me. He pulled up the couch near the hospital window by the bed, and just like old times, held onto my hand while we slept. Just hoping for a better day tomorrow.
