《Love Me? Like You Do.》Chapter 21

The car was waiting and ready. Arthur, Jack's father and Brielle were already seated at the back, as Jack climbed in beside the driver's seat. A white uniform clad chauffeur was seated at the wheel.
"This is Markos." said Jack introducing the chauffeur. "He's been driving me around for years, without complaints. He didn't quit when we ran out of money either."
"It's a pleasure working under such wonderful people," said Markos magnanimously as he started the engine.
Dixon Senior was merrily humming a tune under his breath. All occupants of the car were perplexed as to why he was so happy.
"Dad?" asked Jack finally when they stopped at a red light. "Are you going to tell me why you are going to Frankfurt all of a sudden?"
"No." said the old man absently playing Candy Crush on his phone. "I might if you tell me why you are going to Thailand."
That shut Jack up. He didn't want to give away his reason and neither did his father. Brielle and Arthur sighed. It was obvious where Jack's stubbornness came from.
She was still dazed from her kiss with Jack earlier. He had handed her a bag containing a new pair of jeans and a brand new T-shirt, both of which fitted her perfectly. The words GAP was written on them. No way these clothes could ever have belonged to her. She wondered how he knew her size?
But there had been no time for questions and answers. She had hurried to get changed and in the car she felt awkward talking about this in the presence of young Arthur, Markos and Dixon Senior.
The drive to the airport was barely fifteen minutes. Brielle barely had time to process her thoughts than the car door was opened for her to get out.
She got out in a hurry and immediately tripped on the edge, falling and grazing her knee.
"Miss Brielle!" exclaimed Arthur as he rushed out to help her to her feet. "Are you alright?"
"I'm okay." she said with a smile. "The antibiotics have made me a bit dizzy."
"Maybe you shouldn't have come." said Dixon Senior sagely. "Jack never told me why you need the antibiotics. But if you're sick you need to rest."
Jack cursed under his breath. There was no way, unwell or not he was leaving Brielle behind. The fire he had seen filled his heart with fear. What if something had happened to her? What if someone like Zachary tried to hurt her again and he was too far away to help? He didn't know what h would do.

"You slept all day." said Jack irritably. "That is too much rest. Anyway I don't have time for all this."
He bent down and scooped Brielle onto his strong arms, as she let out a cry of surprise. Dixion Sr and Arthur raised eyebrows at one another, as Jack carried her inside the airport.
"Jack? I'm fine really." she whispered in his ear, feeling awkward when the other commuters stared. "Put me down?"
"You're feeling conscious?" he laughed. His dark eyes lit up in amusement. He really should smile more often, she thought as she noticed a dimple on the corner of his mouth.
"Hold my arm." he said putting her down on her feet. "Stay close. Tell me immediately if you are feeling dizzy."
She nodded as she looped her arm around Jack's. Within minutes a woman arrived and guided them through luggage screening and body checks. She worked efficiently as though used to dealing with VIPs.
"I never thought I could ever afford to ride in a plane." thought Brielle as she recieved her ticket. She looked at it and gasped. "That too business class." she added.
They hurried onto a little bus that dropped them off at the entrance to a jumbo plane. Dixon Airways lit up the white body of the majestic airplane. Brielle admired at how elegant it looked. Almost like a beautiful bird.
Jack put an arm around her waist as they walked up the stairs to get inside the plane. Two beautiful air hostesses greeted them. Brielle smiled widely, she had never been this respectfully greeted before. Jack guided her towards the business class seats. It was obvious how often he traveled, his movement was so natural and unforced as though it was second nature to him.
Within a couple of minutes he found their seats. A couple of seats were joined together by the window in a row. There were many rows after them, each separated by a generous distance, and a covering curtain. It was possible to pull the curtains around the two seats and pull down the seats to make it flat like a bed. How comfortable that would be. Brielle was already fantasizing about another nap.
But it was her first plane ride. It wouldn't do to fall asleep. She could sleep when they returned to land.
"Are we sitting together?" she asked as Arthur and Dixon Sr finally caught up with them. They fumbled for a moment before moving towards the seats right behind where Jack and Brielle were standing.

"Obviously." said Jack tersely. There was no way he was letting her sit for 22 hours with a hormonal teenage boy, who obviously had a crush on her, or his aging father, who would no doubt tell her to marry Jack and have grandkids soon.
"Can I sit by the window?" asked Brielle suddenly. The expression on Jack's face was priceless. He looked surprised and amused at the same time. No one seemed to have asked this to him before.
"Whatever." he said as he let her take the seat she wanted. She looked like a child being handed an ice cream. She strained her neck to look out of the stationary plane. She felt an elation run through her body, all dizziness forgotten.
A few minutes later, the plane started to move, and Brielle's insides twirled. She unconsciously grasped Jack's wrist as he was typing on his laptop.
"Jack?" she asked in a frightened voice.
"It'll be alright." he said understandingly. He shut away his laptop and turned around. Arthur was sitting with his eyes shut tight and fists clenched so tight he could see the whiteness on the knuckles. "You're not alone. It's Arthur's first time as well."
"Oh." said Brielle looking too. The poor boy was more scared than her. Dixon Sr was snoring loudly beside Arthur.
"Brielle?" asked Jack getting up from his seat. "I'm sending Arthur to my seat. Sit with him for the take-off. My Dad's as useful as a broken pencil in comforting people."
"Okay." she said as he got up.
"Just breathe. Swallow continuously during take-off to clear your ears. There are ear plus in the cabinet. Don't worry, I'm right here." he said before walking off.
Arthur arrived to sit beside Brielle and immediately put on his seatbelt.
"Miss Brielle?" he said nervously opening his palm. She nodded and grabbed his hand. The plane started moving really fast all of a sudden and Brielle felt like a rocket was taking off. Her eyes shut tight and she felt a suffocating sensation.
Breathe, swallow. Breathe, swallow. Breathe, swallow.
When she finally opened her eyes, she saw the city in tiny blocks below her. She poked Arthur who was still sitting with his eyes shut.
"Its so small." said Arthur. "I feel like a giant."
"Me too." she said, as she let go of his hand. Arthur looked disappointed for a second.
"You may now use electronic gadgets and use the washroom." said a handsome air host. "Lunch will be served soon."
"Miss Brielle, you are very pretty." said Arthur. Brielle smiled. He was such a sweetheart.
"Thank you dear." she said kissing his cheek. Arthur was still blushing when he felt someone tap on his shoulder.
"Hey kiddo, back to your seat." said Jack with a frown. Arthur gave him a knowing smirk as he got up.
"Enjoy your trip Sir." said Arthur with a wink. Jack scowled at him, so he shut up and went to sit beside Dixon Sr. He quickly became engrossed with the menu.
"Jack?" asked Brielle when sat down beside her again. "I need to talk to you."
"About what?" he asked.
"You---me, its not making any sense." she said waving her hands around her head.
"What do you mean?" he asked feigning obliviousness.
"What are we Jack?" she asked quietly. Jack pressed a button on his seat and immediately deep blue curtains surrounded their seats protecting them from the gaze of others.
"Brielle, do you regret being with me?" he asked pulling her close and looking into her eyes.
She was lost for words. "N-no. But it would be nice if we established some things. Why am I not allowed to go home? We keep kissing, but what are we? Are we in a relationship or what? Arthur said you are going to Thailand to save a woman's honour. The other waitresses at work told me you had a secret girlfriend, the one you would marry soon. It's not right to keep kissing me when you have a girlfriend. It's cheating and its wrong. If you love her you shouldn't be---"
In a flash her seatbelt was opened and Jack pulled her onto his lap, silencing her with a passionate kiss, his hands running through her sweet smelling hair, her own finally touching his well chiseled chest.
