《Catch You》4| Ride

It's something unpredictable, but in the end it's right
-Green Day
"I'm not getting on that-that monster." I said to him, shivering just by looking at the motorbike. It would kill me, I was sure of it.
"Come on, you're hurting his feelings." Theo whined.
"His? It's a he?" I raised an eyebrow.
He cleared his throat. "Mia, meet Monique. Monique, Mia."
"You named your bike Monique?"
He looked at me, rolled his eyes, and turned back to the bike. Then he swung his right leg over to the other side, sitting down on it. Then he looked at me, "Get on."
"No."
"I won't let anything happen to you. I'm a good biker."
"No."
He sighed, "Get on Mia, we literally have nothing else to do. Plus, I'm taking you to my secret place."
Did I want to go to his secret place? Yes, definitely.
Did I want to sit on that and risk my life? No, absolutely not.
Right, this is the changed you. Still so fucking scared of trying anything new. My subconscious mocked at me. That was all it took, for me swing my right leg to the other side and get on the bike.
"If you drop me, I swear-"
"Hold tight, angel." His voice told me he was smirking because he won.
And before I could say anything, the engine roared and we were out of the parking, speeding down the roads. My hands automatically coiled around his waist, clinging for support. The wind was whipping past my face, strands of my hair coming out of the ponytail I'd tied, my hands sweating.
Jesus, I was fucking scared.
I buried my face in his back, my hands tightening around his stomach. I'd never sat on something moving this fast. The air was zipping past my ears, and there was a tingling feeling inside my stomach. I didn't know if it was because of the wind or because my hands were touching him. Either way, I felt nauseous. I don't know how long I sat like that, or how long it had been since we'd started.
"Mia," Theo whispered after a while, glancing behind at me, "Hey, we're there. Are you okay?"
I uncoiled my hands from his waist, getting up from the bike.
"Mia-"
And then I wobbled, falling straight on my butt.
And he burst out laughing. I huffed, getting up, giving him my best glare, "I'm fine."
He raised in hands, "I'm sure you are."
Then I turned around to look at my surroundings. And I was awestruck. We were on top of a hill, so high, that I could see the entire city around me. But that wasn't why I was awestruck. Directly beneath the hill was a lake, its water so clear and pure, flowing at its path. I could hear the sound of water flowing, birds chirping. I could see the sun shining so bright. I could feel at peace.
"It's beautiful, isn't it?" I turned my head around to look at him sitting down beneath a huge banyan tree. He patted the spot next to him, glancing at me.

I walked over, removing my shoes, and sitting down on the grass. Even sitting, the entire city was visible beneath me.
"This is my favorite place in the city." He said after a while. "The quiet, the peace, I don't really get much of that at home. I come here to think, to give myself some time."
"Why did you bring me here?" I asked him.
He shrugged. "I don't know."
"Well, thank you for sharing it with me." I smiled.
He looked at me. "Thank you for coming." He smiled back.
"Why did you move back?" He asked suddenly.
I took a deep breath. "I moved to Canada for a change. But it was never home, it never felt like home. I came back because I wanted to come home."
Theo nodded. "I understand the feeling."
I didn't ask further. Not because I didn't want to know, but because I didn't want to escalate the topic further. I didn't want to answer questions which I was sure would arise once this topic started. My moving to Canada was a sore subject, something I was neither comfortable nor willing to discuss.
"I remember Bridget once mentioned you to me." He said after a while, a smile playing on his lips. "But she'd said you were a brunette. Pitch black hair, cat blue eyes."
I chuckled. "I was. But I just, I was tired. I wanted a change, a fresh start, something new. So I dyed my hair. It's a part of the new me."
"So when will I get to meet the old you?" Theo asked.
"Well, hopefully, never. The old Amelia would never sit on a bike, let alone explore secret places with a stranger."
"Ouch, and here I thought we were getting to know each other." He chuckled.
Talking to him was easy. He was a good listener, he didn't interrupt or ask questions in between, he listened peacefully till the end. We had these easy conversations, he told me about his life, about his goals, his hobbies, his family. And then he made me laugh, so hard I'd never laughed in my entire life, that I felt my cheeks hurting and my stomach beginning to protest. He didn't ask me about my family, maybe he understood I didn't want to talk about it, or maybe it just didn't come up. Either way, I was grateful.
"When do you start classes?" He asked me.
"Tomorrow," I nodded. "Post lunch."
"Well, I could show you around, if you want." He added the last part hastily.
I glanced at him from the corner of my eye and smiled, "I think I'd like that."
I was going crazy.
I was losing my mind.
Her intoxicating scent was all I could smell right now. And it was driving me wild. She was sitting with her legs crossed, her torso upright, playing with the grass beneath her legs. Her eyebrows were scrunched as if thinking something, and I wanted to know what it was. I wanted to know everything that was going on in her head.

It was times like these when I wished I was Edward Cullen. But then she would probably be Bella, and the whole purpose of my being Edward Cullen would be wasted.
I didn't know what this was. I didn't know what I was feeling or why I was feeling it. All I knew was that she intrigued me so fucking much that I just wanted to be close to her, get to know her, give her my company.
I don't think she has a boyfriend.
Jesus fucking Christ.
I'd never once cared if a girl had a boyfriend or not. If I wanted someone, I would have her, I always knew that. Boyfriend or not, girls always willingly came to me. But right now, I did care if she had one or not. I didn't want to know what I would feel or do if she did.
I wanted her. So fucking much.
"What's your biggest dream?" I asked her.
Her face suddenly brightened. "Travelling the world. I have a kind of wanderlust. I want to see each and every corner of this world, every single thing. My parents and I-" she broke off.
She never once talked about her parents. Even when I told her about my family, she never once brought the topic of hers. And I didn't want to force her to tell me something she wasn't comfortable with or ready for, so I didn't ask.
"My parents and I were going to do that." She whispered.
I chose my words very carefully. "I'm sure you'll do it. With someone, anyone, I know you will."
She smiled at me but didn't say anything. Her mood had turned somber, I could feel it. And I didn't like that. I didn't like it at all. I wanted her to be happy and smiling again.
So I got up, dusted my pants, looked down at her and gave her my hand. She looked at it, confused, contemplating, then placed her hand in mine.
It felt fucking fantastic.
We walked over to the edge of the cliff, looking down at the clear water as I proceeded to take my shirt off.
"What-what are you doing?" Mia squeaked. Her cheeks were tinged pink, her eyes looking down at my bare chest, then in my eyes, then back to my chest.
I smiled, she was affected by me. "We're going cliff jumping."
"What?" She shouted. "I'm not jumping."
"Didn't you just tell me that you're a changed person now who isn't afraid of trying new things?" I unbuttoned my jeans.
She squeaked again, covering her eyes. "I love my life. I'm not jumping and letting myself die."
I chuckled, "You don't have to exaggerate everything so much. I do it all the time. And I'm fine, aren't I? I didn't die."
"No."
"Well, fine. I'll go first. Then you come."
"No."
"Yes."
"Theo-"
I jumped down before she could say anything else. Then I heard screaming. And it was a confusion because I never screamed while jumping. I fucking loved jumping from the cliff to the lake. It had become a routine, a practice, so I didn't even realize when I hit the surface of the water and plunged into the lake. I pumped up, pulling my body up to the surface, shaking my head to get rid of the water in my hair.
"Mia." I called out looking up. "You can stop screaming, I'm fine. See."
She looked down at me hesitantly, "Theo?"
"Come on angel, live a little. You'll love it, trust me. The feeling of letting go and falling down, it's amazing. Plus I'm here to catch you, I won't let anything happen to you."
She still looked scared.
"Just try, try once. Then I promise I won't ever ask you to do something you don't like. But you'll love this."
She still had a scared look on her face, but she proceeded to remove her t-shirt. I smiled, but it vanished when she took off her jeans as well.
Instead, there was hunger inside me. Primal, wild hunger to possess her, mark her, make her mine. The way her black bra clung to her chest was making me hard. And her lacy panties were teasing me, taunting me. The raw need inside me to worship her was growing.
"I-I'm scared." She said timidly.
"Nothing will happen to you, I promise. At 3, okay?" I kept my voice as soft as I could. She needed to know I would never let anything happen to her, that I would always protect her.
"One."
"Two."
"Thr-"
She jumped before I could finish. And she hit the surface of the water before I could understand the situation. That was the beauty of falling. It happened so fast that you did not have time to be scared. It finishes the moment it starts. But those seconds, those couple of beautiful seconds are something you remember for the rest of your life. Those seconds make you feel the most free you've ever felt.
She emerged from beneath the water, gasping, panting. Her hand came up to push back her soaked hair. I couldn't look away, the way the water drops slid down her face, down to her chin, her neck, the way her chest was heaving up and down, I was mesmerized.
She coughed and wheezed. I looked at her in alarm. Her eyes met mine, so many emotions flowing in her deep blue eyes.
Then she flung her arms around my neck, burying her face in my shoulder, her legs coming up to wrap around my waist. I stilled for a second, the feel of her against me just too good to be true, but then wrapping my arms around her waist after gaining consciousness.
That was the moment everything clicked into place. Her body wrapped into me, my arms around her, that was the exact moment everything made sense.
Everything started making perfect sense.

IMPORTANT
This scene has a very significant part in Mia and Theo's story because it is the moment when Mia's trust in him develops to a whole new level. It is also the moment when Theo realizes that the feelings he has for her are more than just lust, that they run much much deeper.

Ars Magica
Our vision comes back into focus. Our eyes, while being able to perceive the immediate surroundings, still leave us with our minds uncomprehending towards what is actually occurring. Sure, there are definitive things that we can focus on, like the fact that we're either out upon the open sea or the open ocean, there not being much of a difference with no land in sight, as well as the fact that we appear to be upon a haphazardly constructed metal boat, whose seams are barely able to keep a hold of themselves in the crashing waves. However, that does not let us understand what exactly is causing the waves in the first place. If we were to rewind time, we'd find ourselves upon a calm sea under a peaceful sky with the only difference, being a small whirlpool that would be the precursor towards this uproar around the boat. Lightning flashes in the sky, with no clouds being near, and anyone actually manning the boat has either died towards the cause of the smashing tides in the first place, or are fighting amongst the flashes of lightning, all while trying not to become devoured, demolished, and utterly decimated by the beast roiling in the whirling waves. To better understand exactly what is happening here, there is one singular event that needs to be understood, that needs to be explained, and that is the arrival of a creature named Dave. Stepping back from current events and going towards this creature's first appearance in the world, we begin to hear the sound of water slowly dripping across rocky ground. The cavern is utterly silent except for this one constant, its cause feeding channels downwards, sloping towards cracks in the rubble along the floor from broken stalagmites and stalactites. And there, lying on top of something which had fallen over recently, judging from its cracks, is a person, the creature named Dave. His form is fast asleep, either from the impact or from an intoxication, judging from the smell upon its breath. A bright light suffuses into it for a second, giving life towards the pale skin, before it slowly dies down back to the comfortable black of the cave that it's within. Before this moment in time, Dave did not exist in the physical world. At least, not in the reality that he finds himself born into. We do not know whether or not his existence is simply a cosmic joke, or something that is being played out on purpose. All that we do know, is that one moment, the body was not in the cave, and simply formed in the next. The actual earliest time that we know Dave exists, is the interpolation of the memories of J-209, which we'll begin looking into shortly to gain context towards the coming narrative that is being written and hastily trying to keep itself written. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Warning: This story has several things which might turn its readers away. The first is that this story has shifting points of perspective. Don't worry about that previous sentence too much though, as the main character will always have a first person perspective associated with them. However, any other character from which we're viewing the story from will either be in third-person, as we are not necessarily in their shoes at the moment, or in first person, given that the narrator is an actual physical presence within the story. For the most part, chapters will be self-contained with their perspectives, so there will not be an abundance of switching perspectives within the same chapter. The most that an average reader would have to worry about is the fact that perspectives can switch between chapters. The second thing is that the main character is a bit on the 'special' side of things. He's not exactly mentally there most of the time, so there will be some times that his personality or his thoughts do not actively align with his actions. The third, and final thing of importance, is the fact that past the first couple of chapters, nothing has been planned in advance. There are arcs and plots that I want to do, want to implement, or have already been set into motion from our main character's introduction to the world, but the method that I use for my story writing and generating leads towards a bit more random chance being enabled. Basically...there's a lot of dice rolling behind the scenes. To not complicate the story further than its regular LitRPG elements, the rolls will not be publicly available. However, there will be knowledge within the author's notes on whether or not there were positive or negative critical rolls that had occurred within the chapter. You have been warned. Updates: Mondays & Fridays (Schedule permitting) Typical Chapter Length: (2,000-3,000)
