《Shy One (Completed)》Chapter 17

"Die!" Phoebe lunged and lashed again, but out of sheer instinct I evaded her.
It was like my body was moving on its own.
Especially as she thrusted her knife forward.
I expertly moved out of the way, gripping her wrist harshly. Somehow I proceeded to twist her arm behind her back, latching my foot on her ankles and pulling them back, making her lose balance and slam harshly on the ground. I pinned her with her arm behind her back, twisting her arm and making her release the knife.
In all of that action I didn't notice Axel standing in the doorway, gaping at me as well as Brennon who had wet hair and no shirt.
"Axel!" Phoebe finally noticed her boyfriend staring horrifically at us. "Help! She's trying to kill me." She let out a sob, struggling more as I practically sat on her.
I looked up at Axel with wide eyes, trying to see what his judgement was.
Soon pack members began crowding my doorway, trying to get a look at what was happening inside my room.
"Axel!" Phoebe cried again, struggling more to no avail to my newfound strength. I wasn't even able to do a pushup but here I am holding down someone who is about 5 inches taller than me and definitely heavier.
I was silent through the whole thing, even when Brennon rushed forward and lifted me off Phoebe, pulling me to the far side of the room and lifting my arm.
"I heard that someone was smelling blood coming from your room and I came straight away." He examined my ruined sleeve, seeing how it was drenched in my blood. He pulled my sleeve down, looking at the perfectly healed arm. "What the -" He looked at me and I was probably having the same shocked expression.
"I don't know." I whimpered, not sure what to say to him until Clint finally pushed through the crowd.
Axel had already helped Phoebe up, but never took his eyes off of me.

"Are you okay?" Clint took my arm from Brennon, examining it closely, "I didn't expect the medicine to kick in this quickly." He rubbed some of the blood from my arm, looking at how spotless my forearm was, "This is excellent pro-" Clint was quickly cut off with a screech that made all of us flinch.
"I swear she tried to kill me!" Phoebe screamed, clinging to Axel's shirt while pointing at me, "She needs to be banished! S-she tried to murder your luna!" She looked to the skeptical crowd that formed at my doorway who were all whispering amongst themselves. "She should be punished!" She looked to the crowd, still looking crazed. "Right?!"
"If she was the one trying to kill you why is the smell of her blood the only one here?" Rachel popped out from the crowd, staring colding at Phoebe who was breathing heavily. -
"Be-because I defended myself!" Phoebe unlatched from Axel and gripped Rachel's shoulders violently, shaking her a little enough for Rachel's face to blanche.
Within seconds Brennon was next to them, prying Phoebe off his possible-mate and growled at Phoebe. "Don't touch her, Nova." Brennon's voice was so much gruffer and deeper, his animal side was coming out.
"Nova?" Axel questioned out loud, finally ripping his eyes away from me and looking at Phoebe who was frozen, standing in the middle of my room while staring at Brennon in shock.
"Y-you remember? Y-you were never supposed to remember." She stumbling backwards, her foot hitting the silver knife. "Th-they promised me you will never remember."
"Who?" Brennon was intrigued but still stood protectively in front of Rachel, especially since Phoebe was so close to one of the only weapons that can kill a werewolf.
Phoebe glanced back at me briefly, suddenly dropping down and scooping up the knife.
"N-no!" She swung it in front of her defensively, awkwardly holding it with both her hands, swinging towards people who approached her. "I worked too hard for all of this to fall apart now!" She looked at me again, a murderous glint in her eyes. "You!" She charged, aiming straight for my throat, but not before Axel jumped in front of her as she thrusted the knife forward.

It was like the world was moving in slow motion.
Axel blocked me with his mountainous form as I slipped my arm from Clint's gentle hold. I found myself ducking under Axel's arms as he tried to hold me behind him and I rushed in front of him.
My arm moved on its own as I threw it forward, grabbing the blade with my bare hands and ripping it from her hold. Still in the same motion I took a step forward, driving my empty hand into her stomach.
Her eyes bulged out of their sockets before they rolled into her head and collapsed.
Still holding the knife by its blade I felt my blood dripping from my fingers and onto the floor.
I stared down at the now unconscious Phoebe, or Nova, her hair was in complete disarray and her skin was sickly pale.
I only looked away when Axel lifted my arm gently, taking the knife slowly from me and throwing it away. Then suddenly I was engulfed in a hug, feeling him nuzzle in my neck.
"When I smelled your blood," he whispered, "I was so worried."
"I'm sorry alpha." I had my arms lifelessly by my side, feeling drained all of the sudden, leaning on Axel to stand upright. "I'm so tired." I mumble into his chest, since that was the only thing I could reach.
"Look at her hand." I heard Rachel whisper, well she more of less shouted that.
I lifted my hand, just so I could peer over Axel's arm, and saw that where there should have been a cut was just drying blood.
"How?" Axel partially released me, lifting up my hand closer to his face so he could examine it closely.
I look over to Clint to see if he was going to say anything and all he did was nod at me.
"Everyone," Clint began, his voice loud and clear for everyone who was slowly filtering into my room. "I have something to tell everyone regarding Miss Vennett."
Everyone turned to Clint, waiting for their delta to say something.
"Mable is under arrest on behalf of the council," he spoke, walking over to me only to be stopped by Axel's form blocking him from me.
"On what charges?" Axel growled, keeping a hold on me by pressing me into his broad back.
Clint sighed, looking at me apologetically.
"For attacking a member of the River Side Pack by using her dangerous abilities as a black wolf, and as you should know alpha," Clint walked closer, briefly making eye contact with me, "Black wolves are illegal without council approval." He finally looked me in the eye, "I'm sorry Mable, but you need to come with me."
"She's not going anywhere with you, council mutt." Axel pressed me harder, it was comforting yet utterly terrifying.
"She has to come with me, or you'll face council punishment." Clint's lifeless and monotone voice was scaring me, yet Clint seemed reluctant to move any closer. "Don't make this any harder Axel. Besides, once the council evaluates her she can come back to the pack and live here for the rest of her life."
Axel's whole form was shaking, I could feel the anger coming off of him in waves.
I needed to calm him down.
And fast.
So I wrapped my arms around his torso, burying my face in his shoulder blade.
"It's okay Axel," I mumbled, feeling him relax, "I won't be too long."
