I woke up the next morning and lay in bed for a few minutes as I didn't want to get up so fast. Like I mean come on who wants to get out of bed so freaking fast in the morning.

Well that lasted until my mum walked in and made me get up for breakfast.

I walked down stairs and into the kitchen.

"Morning sel"my dad came from the living room and signed to me.

"Morning dad"I signed back as I grabbed a bowl and filled it with yogurt and fresh strawberries on the top.

"So what are you both planning to do today" my mum signed to me and Cohen as he made the same breakfast as me.

"Well I'm thinking I might go shopping for some new clothes for school and also I need some school supplies" I say and signed to both my parents.

"That's a great idea, Cohen why don't you go with her you need some school supplies too."my mum said to him.

" um sure I guess I wasn't really planning on doing anything today but I need some school stuff too."Cohen said looking at me so I could read his lips.

Because clearly he's to lazy to sign.

After breakfast I went upstairs to have a shower and change.

I put on a black denim skirt, a white T-shirt tucked in and my dr martens boots. I threw my curly hair up into a messy bun and applied a bit of mascara and lip gloss.

A bright red light went of around my room and I went to go and let whoever it was in.

"Hey Stelly are you done because I was done like 20 minutes ago so let's go now before I leave you to go on your own"Cohen signed to me.

I rolled my eyes and walked out my room not before grabbing my phone and bag with my money inside.

"Mum were going now Cohens driving and we will be back soon" I say and sign to her.

"Okay watch where your going and stay safe"she said to both of us. We nodded and walked out.

We got into the car and set of to the closest shopping centre. Which wasn't very far it was only about a 15 minute drive.

"Stel will you be alright on your own or do you want me to come with you"Cohen said to me as he parked up.

"I'll be fine go ahead and do what you want to do and I will meet you back here in about two hours" I signed to him and he just signed an okay.

We both got out of the car and walked to the entrance. The shopping centre was pretty much the same as it was back in the UK , lots and lots of shops.

I went into Calvin Klein and picked up some new T-shirt's. I looked around in that store but I couldn't find anything else I really wanted so i paid for them and went into the next shop.

I went into Hollister and started to look around the shop for anything I liked. I ended up finding a really nice pair or denim shorts and some new swim bikinis ( I just couldn't help myself they were so pretty).

Just as I was turning the corner I bumped into someone and all of my things fell to the floor.

"Oh my god I'm so sorry I didn't mean to, here let me help you" the girl I bumped into said frantically bending down to help me collect my things.

After I got all of my things we both stood up and I looked at the girl I bumped into she was a really pretty girl with light blonde hair and blue eyes.

"No I'm sorry that was totally my fault" I said and signed to her. She looked at me for a moment confused and then spoke.

"It's okay, I love your accent where are you from" she said to me.

I probably look like a creep right now staring at her lips trying to figure out what she's saying.

"Oh thank you I'm from England" I said and signed to her again.

"That's cool I'm Charlotte are you new here" she said.

"Yes I moved here yesterday, I'm Stella" I said and signed to her.

She held out her hand and said "nice to meet you"

I shook it and said the same thing back.

"I don't want to sound really nosey but are you" I cut her off before she finished

"Deaf yes, I have been most of my life" I said and signed before she could.

She just smiled at me and then said "my cousin is deaf too so I know it can be a struggle sometimes"

I nodded and smiled

"So i better go my mom is waiting in the parking lot for me but I hope to see you again sometime, will you be attending Lake View High" she said

"Ye i start next Monday do you to there"I asked a little hopeful .

" yes so I will see you next Monday then" she said happily as she began to walk of

" sure" I said returning the same happiness and beginning to walk the opposite way.

I then paid for my things and walked out of the shop and decided that I want to go home so I walked to the car park to see if Cohen was there already.

Luckily enough he was.

"Hey where have you been I've been here for like 20 minutes"he said clearly annoyed

"Well I'm here now and for your information I might of met a friend that goes to Lake View High"I signed to him with a smile on my face as I explained it.

"What seriously?"he asked surprised

"Yup she's called Charlotte and she's really nice she doesn't care that I'm deaf" I signed

"I'm so proud of you Stel I told you, you could make some friends here" he signed back

"I guess you were right for once" I said and signed laughing

"Hey I'm always right" he sighed laughing

On the way back I made Cohen stop at Starbucks because I wanted coffee. When I got my coffee and he got his we headed back home.

"Mum , dad we're home" Cohen shouted

"Oh hi did you guys get everything" mum signed and asked both of us.

"Nearly I got the clothes side of it but I just need to go tomorrow to get stationary" I signed back

Cohen agreed

It was about 4 pm when we got back so I just went upstairs to put my new clothes away and I just relaxed on my bed watching friends before tea was ready.

The bright red light went of and my dad walked in telling me tea was done and we both went downstairs.

"I'm starving"Cohen said and signed

"Cohen shut up" I signed

"What it's true I'm so hungry a big man like me need to eat lots of food" Cohen signed to me

"Well you can't be that hungry considering your not a 'big man'" I signed

"Whatever Stella believe what you want" he signed

"I will because I believe in the truth" I said and signed back laughing slightly

"Okay tea's done come and get it" my mum signed and said to all of us

"What is it ?"I asked

"Burgers and sweet potato fries" my mum signed

" nice" I said and got up to get my food

After tea we all decided to watch a film in the movie room. We ended up watching IT.

"Oh my god Georgie don't put your hand down" I said

"Ahh he did it I can't look" my mum said signing .

Sometimes my mum signs whilst she's speaking because she's that used to doing it with me she doesn't even realise she's doing it on her own.

An hour later the film was over and we all decided to go to bed.

Later that night it started to rain. It's times like this I wish I could hear things like the rain or my family laughing. I don't even remember the sound of my own voice I have a vague memory of me shouting for my mummy in the back of the destroyed car. The doctors said I will never get my hearing back but I've learned to deal with it. I do get sad from time to time but I just think that it could be worse I could've got it worse in the car accident and I'm lucky I am just deaf.

I got up from the window and changed into my pyjamas. I climbed into bed and let sleep take over.
