"Are we ready to go?" Jack got up from a bench in front of the school. He was waiting for me outside while I finalized a few things inside.
We cleaned up the front of the school right after the bake sale. It was fun while it lasted. But it's back to normal again next week. I still have to finish planning out the lesson plan though. Right after I take a well deserved break.
Jack came by again. He was mostly standing by the stalls I was in. I didn't mind his presence at all. It was a little weird, but it's nice having him as company for a while. He insisted on waiting for me the whole time.
Somehow, he had convinced me to give him a tour around the town right after the bake sale so here we are right now.
"Yep." I replied, popping the p. I secured my hand bag on my shoulder. "I'm sorry to keep you waiting. I thought I would finish a bit earlier."
He dusted his pants. "It's alright. I can wait."
I smiled. "Then let's go."
We started walking side by side to my car. Jack told me that he was just dropped off by one of the people that he works with. We decided that we will use my car while I drive him around town and stop by a few places since I was the one familiar with it obviously.
"I can carry your bag if you want to?" He offered.
Nostalgia hit me straight up in the face. During back then, he's the one always bringing my bag whether it was my school bag or what not. He'd always be the one to get my bag first and hold on to it for most of the time. Most of the time, I try to tell him that wasn't necessary, he was a persistent one. And like muscle memory, I found myself handing my bag over to him.

Since the last day of the event was a half-day, it was now lunch. I drove the both of us to one of my favorite restaurants I have dined in. We spent a good two hours in the restaurant before leaving.
I then brought him to a few well-known places that I've been to before. We walked and looked around the outlet place, checking out the interesting things they were selling.
While walking, we came across a café that was selling a wide variety of pastries and drinks inside. We were also getting quite hungry because of our walk. We took our absolute sweet time in picking the ones we really want to eat.
I ordered three pastries and an iced latte. Jack did the same, but he had a frappuccino instead. We were fighting over who was going to pay. Jack won and paid for it himself since his excuse was I already paid for our lunch a while ago. It was the least that he could do. We cut our pastries all in half so we can each have a taste. All I can say is that it was a food-filled afternoon and I was stuffed.
To burn off some calories, we walked around again. Jack led us to a camera shop where he bought a few film rolls for his film camera.
Besides his love for music and singing, he also had his fair share of having talents in photography. He always says that he has the need to capture every little moment passing by.
I thought nothing of it at first, but I guess he was right. It was nice looking back at pictures because they are like a physical form of a memory. I don't really find myself scrolling and looking at pictures, especially with my mom in it, because I usually end up crying when I start reminiscing about those old times and how I wish I could just go back and cherish those moments a little more before they're all gone.

"I'm done." Jack announced, walking over to where I was. "Do you have other places you need to go to?"
I thought about it and I do have somewhere to go.
"I do." I answered. "I have to go to the grocery store because I would most likely be starving later on for dinner because I have close to nothing left inside my fridge. I can drop you off where you want and I'll be on my way."
"C-Can I come with y-you instead?" He hesitated, scratching the back of his neck. A thing he does whenever he's nervous or shy.
I was slightly taken aback by his question. "You want to go with me?"
He nodded, smiling sheepishly. "If you want. I-It's okay if you don't want me to. I was just asking if I could."
I chuckled. "You can come with me if you really want to. But aren't you getting tired?"
"Pfft! Me? Tired?" He scoffed loudly. "Of course not! I can even run three miles straight for you."
"Hold your horses. Okay, you can go with me. It's best if we leave now so we'll finish earlier."
I drove us to the same grocery store where we bumped into each other after so long. I have been craving lasagna and garlic bread lately so that's the dish I will be making later for dinner. I should make a large serving of it for more leftovers for me to eat.
I already saved a list of all the things I need to buy in my phone's note app. Most of my trips to the store are fairly quick. I toss everything that I need in the cart and go pay for it, but today is quite different. I seem to take everything quite slow. I was even comparing the prices and checking the nutrition facts of the products like I haven't even bought them before.
It's maybe because Jack is here and...I don't really want the day to end and say goodbye.
Entering the pasta aisle, I can hear Jack clearing his throat loudly before asking something.
"So, uhm, h-have you...d-dated someone after you know," He was making all of these awkward hand gestures.
My eyes widen in a fraction. I let out a fake cough. "No. I, uh, haven't- I'm not really looking for a relationship. With you know my mom and all that, plus with college then having to find a job. It wasn't, and still not, my main priority. But I'm not totally against the idea of it."
"That's good to hear."
