《Cuore Mio》Chapter Forty Five - Escape

Azalea's POV:
As I walked towards where Dante was being held, Elijah closely followed behind me, giving me directions.
Just because he claimed that he is my real father, I wasn't going to let my guard down. He could be playing me for all I know.
"I'll go talk to Dmitri and distract him. You go free Dante. Alright ?" Elijah whispers.
"Okay. What about you ?" I asked.
"Don't worry. I'll handle everything." He said. "I'll go in first. Then you follow."
He took a step in the front but turned around. Taking something out from his suit pocket, he placed it in my hand. "Keep this with you. It will help you when you need to find me."
I nodded in agreement and looked at my palm. It was a silver necklace with a heart shaped locket. As I was about to ask him about it, he had already walked away. Shrugging, I put it in my pocket.
I know I shouldn't trust him but this is my only chance. Yes, he is not my favorite person on earth right now but I have to save Dante.
Elijah went in a room but left the door slightly open so I would be able to hear and see what was going on in there.
"We need to talk." He tells Dmitri. Dmitri smiles widely, busy enjoying the fact that Dante is being beaten up.
On the day that Dmitri attacked the house, I couldn't see him properly but now I do.
Dmitri was wearing a black suit which looked a little too small in his stout and portly figure. Although he is said to be in his late 50's, he looks much older than that.
It's probably one of the side effects of the cigarette that he is smoking right now.
Listening to what Elijah said, he nods with his tattooed bald head and threw a bloodied knife on the floor while walking out of the room through the other exit.
Thank God that he didn't come here. This could be a trap after all but I wouldn't let my fear come in between of Dante's freedom.

I quietly tiptoed into the dim-lit musty room and saw Dante's hands and legs tied to a metal chair.
His head was down so he hadn't seen me yet. The first few buttons of his shirt were unbuttoned which showed his toned chest covered in blood and sweat but I could still see lacerations on his skin.
Oh, Dmitri better watch his back. I'm gonna get him one day.
I slowly walked towards him and said, "Wanna get out of here, doofus ?"
As soon as I said those words, his head snapped upwards and smiled looking at me.
But looking at his face, I frowned. Dante had blood dripping from his nose which meant that Dmitri had punched him repeatedly.
"Are you alright, Azalea ? Did they hurt you ?" Dante asked. His voice although husky and tired, I could still sense how worried he was.
"Don't worry about me. Now sit still, I'll cut the ropes." I said, peeking at the door to see if anyone was walking by.
I cut the ropes that were holding his arms and legs and then helped him walk by putting his arm around my shoulder and wrapped mine around the back of his waist.
Although he limped slowly, we were still able to get out of that room. Now all I had to worry about is not to get caught by the thousand guards on this floor. No biggie.
Note the sarcasm...
Just then I heard the voices of a few people coming towards us. As they got closer, I could hear soft thuds. Heh ?
I helped Dante move to a corner and the both of us stood still, not saying a word.
"What the hell is wrong with you, Alex ? We're on a mission to find our missing Don and probably Donna and you're here wondering if the sky is falling down ?" A voice shouted.
Wait..I know that voice. Is that...Dom ?
"Dazalea will be fine." I heard another voice.
That is definitely Alex. I know it's him.
"You already have a ship name for them ?" A person asked, their voice held surprise.

Aaandd....that's Noah.
I looked at Dante and he seemed to have the same look as I did; happiness.
I peeked a little to get a better view and to my surprise, I saw Alex, Noah and Dom tip-toeing in the corridor with guns in their hands. They found us !
Without wasting another second, I took a step forward which made us both visible to them.
Dom and Noah seemed to be looking around for any threats but Alex looked straight towards our direction.
"Wow." Alex said, looking at us up and down. "I found them."
Dom and Noah jolted towards Alex and then at us.
"I see you're hurt." Alex said, staring at Dante.
"Thanks, Captain Obvious. I wouldn't have known otherwise." Dante sarcastically replied.
"Come on. Let's get you both out of here. The way that we came from will be easier because Alex here," Noah said, pointing at Alex, "went on a killing spree."
Alex looked at all of us and smiled sheepishly. "Oops ?"
Dom came towards us and held Dante's shoulder, giving him support. "Walk in front. I'll help Dante." He said, and I obeyed.
When all of us quietly walked together and had finally reached the exit without having to deal with any guards.
I sighed in relief but three of them suddenly appeared out of nowhere.
What the hell ? Think about the devils, in this case, guards, and they shall appear...
All of us stopped in our tracks and looked at all of the black suited men aiming their guns at us; surrounding us and blocking the exit.
Time to use put those training skills to use. I thought to myself.
Since Dom was supporting Dante, I told him to get somewhere safe; away from here. At first he hesitated but then he agreed.
Three of the guards attacked each of us. Alex and Noah fought them off like ninjas and so did I.
Initially, it was a little difficult for me to get hard punches on them because, one, they were tall; something I'm not and two, they had much more experience.
So I took advantage of my height. I swung and punched the guy in his abdomen multiple times, making him weaker by the second.
He tried pulling g my hair to make me fall.
Wrong move, dude ! Not the hair.
When it looked like he was losing his strength, I kneed him right where the sun doesn't shine.
That's literally all that I had to do. In a moment, he fell on his knees and I gave him a hard hit on the back of his head. In an instant, he dropped down to the floor.
Looking up, I saw Dom and Noah who were staring at me. "What ?" I asked.
"Nothing." Both of them mumbled. I smiled at them and turned around.
"Dom ? Dante ?" I searched for them.
"We're here." Dom panted out. "He's losing consciousness. We need to get him to a hospital. Now."
All of us nodded and ran to a Noah's car that was parked outside the warehouse.
As we did so, I sat in the car and at the warehouse. My heart secretly hoped that Elijah was safe.
I turned around to see that Dom was struggling to get Dante into the car. I helped him.
All of a sudden, the car shook a little and a loud and sharp bang, followed by a long, thundering growl was heard.
That sound, that feeling. No...I slowly turned my head towards the warehouse. It was gone.
The building was no longer there. All that could be seen was the rubble.
The fire looked brighter than a thousand suns that consumed the whole place.
There was black smoke and a plasticky smell which only became stronger by the second making it difficult to breathe.
Realization hit me like a truck. Elijah. He was still in there, wasn't he ?

Forgotten Dungeon
Death comes quickly and without warning. Even for such little personage as him. It's quite hard to start as a dungeon core. Quite harder when divine bureaucracy simply dumps you in the a** end of nowhere because of their incompetence and because of your agent status as a Fallen Angel. Yet Uno (temporary name) is used to working with subpar materials and making the best of circumstances. It doesn't help that his personality was cut down to size, but he tries to overcome the system with ingenuity and a healthy dose of duct tape. Or the local equivalent of such. *** An audiobook of the Forgotten Dungeon story has been made by Agro Squerrils and is available on YouTube, under this link: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLcfzFNUhrNS3Z7DfjN5pMWn-CI1uKg3s2 He has my permission and full support for doing so, so don't be shy and check it out! *** Hello people! It's a story about a dungeon. Or maybe the dungeon? Who knows. Dumped in a hostile world, working hard to overcome circumstances. There is an RPG system in place, but I'll try to make it not number-heavy. I would be more focused on skills - at least from the perspective of the sentient races. Dungeons will have their own little playground. I'll try to make MC not overpowered - it always irks me how the stories tend to go from zero to hero in a few minutes. I hope y'all will enjoy the ride! *** Also, a Discord server has been made recently: https://discord.gg/sK2pam3 Join and share your opinions, if interested! :)

Jalan Suram : The 100 Fire Holders
"Why us?" Still staring at the unusually stationary fire of the candle he was holding, Agung voiced the questions in our mind. Holding our own candle tightly, we resolved to ignore them and continued our discussion. It was a matter of life or death after all. More than half of the initial participants had fallen and the building became more crowded as the result. There were now more ghosts than the living and each step was filled with danger from the unknown.
