《Cuore Mio》Chapter Forty Seven - Familiar

"I'm feeling hungryyy...." Dante whined.
"Yeah. Even I need to feed Budapest." Alex stated.
The five of us glanced at Alex; Dante, Noah, Dom, Kim and me. When Dante was in the hospital, Alex had called Kim and explained everything to her.
She arrived about an hour ago with the guards assigned to her by Alex. Speaking of guards, now even I am going to have them follow me everywhere I go.
I had explained everything that Elijah told me. They said that he could've lied to me, but I convinced them to at least consider the things I told them.
Looking at all of our confused faces, he explained, "I named my stomach Budapest because it's capital is Hungary. As in, you know, hungry."
"What a weirdo." Dom said, giving him the 'are you crazy ?' look.
"That was a good one." Noah said, pointing at Alex.
"What ? No. Don't encourage this dumb-bum !" Kim exclaimed.
"Rude, much." Alex mumbled.
Now, all of us were planning on how to find Dmitri, if he wasn't dead, that is, and Zane too, and yes I am calling him that from now onward. Zane is his actual name, not what Dmitri named him.
The thing is, Dmitri is quite smart. If he did realize that Elijah wasn't on his side, he would have tried to get rid of him, for sure. Also, he wouldn't have been dumb enough to wait until the whole warehouse exploded.
So, we have concluded that Dmitri could be alive, though we're not sure about Elijah. I mean, yes, he could have escaped. But there's not much of a chance that he knew about the explosion.
About the traitor, Liam, he was the same one who called Dante, saying that I was hurt. He's also the the reason that the recorders we planted in their cars hadn't worked.

"I'll get you something to eat." I said, kissing his forehead.
"What about Budapest ?" Alex shouted and all of laughed at his question.
"Don't worry, I'll bring something for all of us." I assured and went to where Dom was sitting, holding my hand out.
"What ?" He asked.
"I'll need money to buy food." I explained.
"Why do you need money from me ?" Dom questioned, raising his eyebrows.
"Well, maybe because it's because I was kidnapped a few hours back and don't have my purse with me right now." I said, sarcastically.
Dom huffed and pulled his wallet out from the pocket of his jeans. I expected him to pull out some money and give me but instead he gave the whole thing. "I'm trusting you, Zae."
I swear, I have so many nicknames now. Everyone just seems to make their own for me.
"Oooo....thanks." I smiled and walked away, leaving everyone in the room surprised at Dom's action. To be honest, the only reason that he did so was because I knew his secret.
He has a girlfriend but nobody knows about it because it's a long distance relationship. So you're probably wondering how I know.
Well, it's because one day when I was playing a game on his phone, 'cause I had forgotten mine, he had gotten a message from a girl named 'Mia' with a red heart emoji.
At first, I thought it was maybe his sister or something but then a few days later, I heard him talking on the phone saying, "I love you too, Mia. Goodnight, Babe." And that's how I came to know.
Later that day, I confronted him about it and he did agree to it but wanted me to keep it a secret.

I would never tell anyone, even if he wouldn't be extra nice to me but I'm not gonna lie; it did feel nice to be treated like I was special.
After taking directions from the receptionist, I walked towards the cafe and bought six butter croissants for all of us. When I was walking back to Dante's room, I bumped into someone by mistake.
Looking up at the person I bumped into, I was bedazzled. He was quite tall, like maybe about 6'2. His chestnut brown colored hair was curly, making the ends of his hair brush over his eyes.
His eyes were ocean blue, just like mine. Something about him seemed so familiar.
"Are you alright, Azalea ?" He asked bending a little because I was that short.
"Yeah, I'm good." I smiled and walked away.
I walked a little and then I realized. He said it. He said my name. He said 'Azalea'. Could that be....no way !
I quickly turned around but to my sorrow, I didn't see him. He wasn't there. I walked a little further, trying the find him but I couldn't.
It's probably just your mind playing tricks on you, Az. My conscience reminded me.
Yeah. That's it. I haven't slept properly for almost a day and I'm stressed too. That's it. Nothing else. I said these sentences repeatedly in my mind, trying to convince myself.
When I walked into Dante's room, everyone turned their heads towards me.
"What took you so long ? I was starting to get worried." Dante said, his voice laced with concern.
"I'm fine. There was a long queue." I replied.
"Yeah, Alex was getting worried. Poor Budapest." Noah teased.
All of us laughed at Noah's statement. I gave them the bag and sat next to Dante, who was resting his head on the headboard of the bed.
"Are you sure you're alright ? You look pale." Dante said, putting his arm around my shoulder.
"Yeah. Don't worry about me, I'm just tired." I gave an assuring smile. "Here. Eat." I said, giving him one of the two remaining croissants.
"I'm not well right now." He pouted. I guess, you'll have to feed me like how you did when I was shot once."
I smiled and fed him, while eating mine with my other hand.
"Go get a room !" Noah exclaimed.
I felt my cheeks turn red in embarrassment. I don't think that I'm ready for any of that right now.
"Don't worry, Stellina. He's just kidding. Unless..." Dante's voice trailed off.
"Na-uh." I denied, slapping the back of his head. "Nope."

Vast Asleep
The story of Kingard the Binder in the aftermath of Broken This short story is the epilogue of Broken, the second book of the Chronicles of Mother's Gate series. It’s a great follow-up to the novel, a bonus story that adds extra layers but is set apart from the full-length narrative. Vast Asleep follows the story of Kingard, who finds himself caught in a world called Mother's realm, bathed in glowing light but strangely stuck in place. He encounters his greatson Varyan there, and learns that his experiences are likely dreams. As he grows more accustomed to the loving realm around him, Kingard remembers fear and trepidation about the face of the world, and he loses contact with his companion. This story answers the question, Is Kingard really dead? with a tentative no, and new mysteries brewing. It also raises the question, What's happening while he's awake? and includes an excerpt from the sister story Ride Awake, about Kingard's situation with the Colkh'rak. Praise for Tales of the Known World Bookends: Loved it. The difference between the two stories is great! The difference between the epilogue and prologue is astounding. So much light and love in the first story. You feel safe reading it. Healing. The second, so much darkness, pain and despair. The choice of vocabulary is awesome and makes an impact. And this set of short stories ties the two books together so well. -- Dana V. of Texas ★★★★★

Sacrificed in Thirty Seconds
A somewhat unusual reincarnation story, where the main character is thrown into a new world and tries to survive. It is a combination of survival/adventure. I wrote it as a fast-paced, action driven story. If you like slice of life, or extensive descriptions, it is probably not for you. This is my first book here, I will not remove it, but do not expect anything special.
