《Cuore Mio》Chapter Fifty Two - Decipher

Once I clicked on the file, a dialog box opened. It asked for a master password. In other words, if we don't put the correct one, it will self-destruct. There was a hint in a fine font at the bottom:
My little one ? Where have I heard that before ? It sounded familiar.
"It's Elijah. He's alive." I said with relief. Dom and Noah looked at me like I was crazy.
So I explained to them, "When Elijah told me about everything on that day, he referred to me as his little one. This is him; it has to be."
"Now, all we have to do is crack this thing open." Dom said, looking at the screen.
"He did give us a clue." Noah said. "It said that it would always be you. What does that mean ?"
"Always be me...what if the password is my name ?" I asked.
"There's only one way to find out." Dom shrugged.
I counted the number of dashes in the space bar. There were 14 spaces; the same number of letters in my name.
"Alright. Let's do this." I said, typing my name. After I did, I pressed the enter key and closed my eyes at the same time because I was afraid that it would be wrong.
Slowly opening one of my eyes, I saw a map of Louisiana open up. There was no marking or anything. Nothing that could help me find out what this meant.
After thinking for what felt like an eternity, I realized what Elijah had said to me when we were escaping from Dmitri's warehouse.
'It will help you, when you need to find me.' Was what he said when he gave a the necklace.
That's when I put two and two together. Those numbers on the locket do not form a phone number; they're coordinates.

"The coordinates of where he is." I said and they nodded, understanding what I had meant.
I removed the necklace from around my neck and counted the numbers. There were fifteen decimal digits right of the decimal points.
I typed in the coordinates on the map and it lead to a location in New Orleans.
"An abandoned house ? Why would he be there ?" Noah questioned, looking at the satellite view of the map.
"Maybe it just looks like that." Dom guessed. "This place," He said, gesturing to the warehouse we were in right now,"looks the same on the map."
"We'll have to go check it out." I concluded, wearing the necklace. Maybe he's actually alive.
"We can go today. Dante went to work, so he won't be back until later in the evening." Noah suggested.
"Alright. I'll tell him." I said, pulling out my phone to call Dante.
He picked up the phone after just half a ring.
"Ciao, bella." Dante's husky voice spoke through the phone.
"Hi !" I blushed, at how he greeted me.
"How is my Stellina ?" He asks.
"I swear, if you don't stop calling me a damn meatball..." I threatened.
"What are you going to do ?" He teased.
"You wouldn't want to know." I replied in a seductive voice.
He cleared his throat. "Well, uh, what did you need ?"
I smiled victoriously. "Well, we know where Elijah is. I think he's been laying low for a while, trying to keep away from Dmitri. His men have already got to few of Elijah's men."
"Okay. When are we going there ?" He asks.
"Not we. Dom, Noah and I are going since you are busy. Liz let me go early because she had an event to go to." I explained.

"No, Azalea. I'm coming, you need to be safe. Where are you ?" He denies.
"Dante, I'll be fine." I assure him. "Plus, it's not like I'm going alone. Dom and Noah will be coming with me too."
He sighed, "Are you sure ?"
"Yeah, I'm sure. We'll be back in a few hours. I promise." I ensured.
"Alright, then. Take care of yourself. Come soon." Dante said, his voice holding affection.
"Alright, doofus. Byee !" I said into the phone and disconnected the call.
"Well ?" Dom asked, wondering if Dante agreed with our plan or not.
"We can go." I informed, picking up my purse from the table. "Road trip, here we come !"
They chuckled at my behavior and soon all three of us were on the road, towards my....dad.
That feels weird to say.
An hour later, we were standing in front of a huge house, correction, mansion. This looked nothing like the picture we had seen on the satellite map.
"Are you sure that this the right place ?" I asked Dom who was staring at his phone with a frown on his face.
When he didn't answer me, I nudged him with my elbow.
"Owieeee !" He said, rubbing the side of his abdomen. "What, you crazy woman ?"
"She asked whether this was the right place." Noah replied.
"Yes, it is. At least that's where the GPS lead m-" Before he could finish that sentence, I heard his voice.
"I see you got my message and solved the puzzle. Nice." Elijah said, nodding. He looked a little different than when I had first seen him two weeks back.
Today, he was dressed up in, not a suit, but a casual shirt with blue jeans.
At his appearance, both Noah as well as Dom, drew their guns out of their holsters and aimed it at him.
"Put them down !" I whisper shouted at both of them.
"No." Both of them said in unison.
"It's alright." Elijah butted in. "They just care for your safety."
"Let's get you out of here." I smiled.
He nodded and followed me to the car. When he proceeded to open the door of the backseat, Noah stopped him.
"Please sit in the passenger's seat." He said, politely.
"It'll be easier to keep an eye and a gun at you." Dom clarified, getting into the driver's side of the car.
I huffed and was about say something but Elijah beat me to it. "Alright, I understand. I know it's going to be difficult to trust me but just know that all I'm here for is to be with my children. That's all."
I sat next to Noah in the backseat while going back. After a few minutes of silence, Elijah spoke up, "Um, I have something to say."
My attention was drawn towards him now, curious as to what he wanted to say. Seeing that we all looked at him, he continued.
"I found Zane. I know where he is."
Holy crap !
"Where ? Where has he been all this while ?" I asked, almost falling off my seat in anticipation.
"He's been staying in a small apartment." Elijah stated.
"Then why haven't Dmitri's men been able to find him ?" Dom asked, his eyes still on the road.
"It's because they don't know where Azalea used to live."
Wow...I'm shook...

An Unwavering Craftsman
Given the hereditary nature of classes, everyone expects Damien—the child of two high-tiered adventurers—to be granted a high-tier combat class of his own. Expectations are betrayed, however, when Damien finds himself instead saddled with a crafting class of the lowest possible tier: [Neophyte Tailor]. Left practically crippled compared to those with better classes, Damien wants to avoid becoming a pawn in the machinations of the nobility, desiring only to grind his level in peace while wondering why the usual rules of inheritance were broken. Was it his desire to excel by his own effort, rather than an unearned blessing from a god? Did the Five take offence at his opinions on the unfairness of hereditary classes? Or maybe it was something to do with the alien voice that intruded on his ceremony? A voice that offers great power, and freedom from the tyranny of the Five, but that never names its price. This story is litRPG-lite. While the class someone possesses controls most of their lives, people don't get dinged at for every level they gain, nor can they see their status without undergoing a special ritual. The MC has no romantic interest. Crafting is merely a way to game the system, and doesn't feature heavily in the story, aside from a few descriptions on how they're carrying out the system abuse. There is, on one unfortunate occasion, maths. The pace is quick. This was a participant in the Spring 2022 writathon. (i.e. it was posted as-written at high speed. I may give it another editing pass in the future.)
