《Come Back To Me, Kiwi.》Chapter 50 - Gabriel and Doctors

The day had finally come. I was going to meet Gabriel and I would get the last number I needed and get added to the family group chat. I was so excited.

When he finally arrived, Vivi was still showering, so I answered and let him in. He looked kind of pale though.

"Hey." I said softly, watching him smile in discomfort.

He just waved slightly, coming in.

"You ok?" I asked him.

"Yeah.... c-can.... water?" He asked.

"Yeah, sit down." I said, gesturing to the couches in concern.

He sat on the couches and put his hand on his stomach, the other arm thrown across his forehead.

"What's wrong?" I asked him.

"I don't feel good." He groaned.

"Did you eat something bad?" I asked.

He nodded his head.

"Here, have some water." I said, handing him some water.

He drank it all down and then seemed to feel a little better.

"You ok now?" I asked him.

"I'm good. Thank you." He smiled.

"You ate something bad?" I asked him.

"Not bad, just different." He explained.

"You didn't like it?" I asked him.

"No it's not that. I just... I've eaten Soph's cooking for my entire life and I never really eat anything that isn't her recipe and stuff. My stomach just can't handle things that are slightly off. So I went to a cafe and had a muffin and it messed my stomach up. I just have a really sensitive stomach, basically." He told me.

"Oh, I see.... why'd you go to the cafe? You could've just gotten something from Sophie." I said.

"Ava wanted a muffin from the cafe." He sighed, his hand finding his stomach again.

"Ava?! Doctor girl!" I giggled.

"I see you've had several conversations with Ari." He laughed, his hand suddenly flying to his mouth. As he ran to the bathroom and threw up.

"Vivi!" I called out, not really knowing what to do.

"What happened?" Vidal asked, walking out of the bedroom shirtless, his hair still wet.

"Vidal! Put a shirt on. Your uncle Gabriel is sick, help me... I don't know what to do." I said, following Gabe to the bathroom and trying not to get distracted by Vidal's incredibly attractive body at a time like this.

Gabriel flushed the toilet as I approached and he looked over at me. His eyes watering from the horrible experience he just had.

"More water?" I asked him.

"Yes please." He said, his voice strained.

I went to the kitchen and got him another glass of water. He exited the bathroom and went towards the couch as he drank the water down.

"I'll call Coco." I said.

"No... no... take me to the hospital." He said, his lip twitching up on one side.

"You just want to see her again." I said, rolling my eyes.

"Of course." He smiled.

"Vidal! We're taking Uncle Gabe to the hospital." I called out.

"You don't have to call me Uncle Gabe, Gabe is fine." He told me.

I nodded with a smile and helped him up. I helped him towards the door and helped him get his shoes on. Vidal came out with his car keys and we took Gabriel to the hospital.

The second I saw Ava, I knew she was the one Ari was talking about. She was so pretty and she was walking around like a true boss. She was super kind to everyone, but she gave orders and they clearly knew to follow all of them perfectly.

When her eyes landed on us, I saw her expression change completely, she was very concerned. She hurried over and put her hand over Gabe's forehead.

"What happened?" She asked. "Your stomach still hurts?"

He nodded, acting weaker on purpose and loving the attention she was giving him.

"Go to room three, it's right over there." She said, pointing to a room.

We helped Gabe get there and he laid down on the bed. She gave him a bag to throw up in if he needed to and then she came back with some tools.

"I'm going to draw some blood and see if you have some sort of infection." She told him.

"He doesn't have an infection." Vidal said in annoyance.

Ava raised an eyebrow at Vidal as if to ask who the heck he was.

"He just has a sensitive stomach... he always gets like this." Vidal said.

"Ava... this is my nephew, Vidal." Gabe said.

"Your nephew?" She asked, raising an eyebrow at him.

"Yes." Gabriel nodded.

Ava looked at me as if to ask what these crazy boys where going on about. I giggled and nodded.

"It's true." I smiled. "Gabe is very young compared to his sister and her husband as well as everyone else their age in the family."

Ava smiled at me and nodded.

"I'm calling Dr. Ferrari." Ava said.

"No, Ava... stay." Gabe said, grabbing her arm.

"What made your stomach act up like this?" She asked him.

"The muffin." He told her.

"Then, why did you eat it?!" She growled, smacking him with her clipboard.

"I didn't know this would happen. Besides, I wanted one too." He said.

"He knew it would happen." Vivi said.

"Will you shut up, idiot?" Gabe said to Vivi who just laughed.

"You're so stupid sometimes, Gabriel." Ava said, shaking her head.

"You wanted me not to take you to that cafe and get us something to eat after all this time of trying to get you to acknowledge me?" He asked her.

"Just stop it." She said, shaking her head and going to get Coco.

I felt bad about how this went. It seemed like she was really scared to let him in. I wondered if things would ever work for them. Clearly they both liked each other.

We left to go get the car closer to the door for when Gabe was ready to come out and go home. Vivi and I found the car, brought it to the door, and I went in to get Gabriel. It had taken us quite a while to remember where we left the car, and so by the time we got back, Coco had definitely finished with Gabe. I went in to find Ava with him.

They seemed to be having a heated discussion, so I just turned around and went to sit on the bench and wait for him.

A few minutes later, Ava came out of the room in shock. Her cheeks were tinted pink and she looked confused. She smiled at me and then she ran off. This was pretty confusing, but I was just going to let it happen and watch from afar. I didn't want to butt in and ruin anything.

A little while later, Ava came rushing back to the room and entered it. I didn't hear anything but she looked like she get guilty for something. They were in there for two minutes before they both came out and both of them had red cheeks and smiles on their faces.

"What happened?" I laughed.

"I have a girlfriend." Gabe said.

"Shut up, no you don't." Ava said, smacking him with a clipboard again.

"Fine. I'm a step closer to having a girlfriend." He said.

"Yes, and you're miraculously feeling better now?" I asked him.

"No. Rico gave me some weird thing to drink." He shrugged.

"Oh... it was nice to meet you, Ava." I smiled.

She nodded her head.

"Wanna give me your number so you can complain about him to me when he's stupid?" I asked, handing her my phone.

She smiled and took my phone, entering her number into it. After that, the watch around her wrist made a sound and she looked down at it.

"I have to go. I'll see you guys later." She said, waving.

"Bye, beautiful." Gabe said, making her glare back at him.

"You're unbelievable." I laughed.

"Let's go home." He smiled, taking my hand.

On the drive home, he told me everything there is to know about Ava and how stubborn she is. He told me about how he's a teacher and he even told me about his students.

He was a cutie, because of course, all the members of this family had to be. I feel like it was probably a requirement. He was funny, he liked to joke around. He was smart and kind and super committed. He told me about the after school programs he had for the kids.

He was just a great guy, and he was so close to finally getting the girl. The happiness on his face was beyond anything I'd ever seen. He was so overjoyed that things were progressing with Ava. After two whole years, she was finally giving him more than an eye roll or a shake of the head.

I was almost more excited for them than they were. Ava was so sweet but incredibly strong. And she was absolutely perfect for Gabriel.

When we got him to the mansion, where Nana Lucie and Papa Devan were, he got out to leave and I remembered how I needed his number.

"Hey, Gabe!" I called.

"Yeah?" He asked.

"Can I have your number?" I asked him.

"Oh yes, sure thing." He smiled.

He took my phone and he wrote his number and name into it. When he handed it back, he said goodbye and ran off.

I looked down at the name and saw that he had written 'Ava's Husband' on it with a winky face. I laughed and decided to leave it that way. Maybe one day it would be an accurate description of who he was.
