When we arrived home after taking Gabriel to the hospital, Kiara was bouncing up and down happily.

"They're so cute together!" She squealed.

I laughed, watching her get excited for Gabriel.

"And I met everyone!" She giggled.

"You did. I'm so proud of you." I said, grabbing her and kissing her forehead.

"Can you put me in the group chat now?" She asked me, still unable to contain her excitement.

"I think Remi wanted to do that, should I text him and tell him to do it?" I asked her.

"Yes, but why did he want to add me?" She laughed.

"Apparently, he was going to give you a special welcome speech." I chuckled.

"A special welcome speech?" She giggled.

"Yeah." I nodded, texting my brother.

Kiara started bouncing up and down again and she went to the kitchen and started stress eating some brownies.

"Why are you stress eating?" I asked her.

"Uhm.... I'm not stressed. Just nervous." She told me.

I laughed, grabbing her and pulling her to the couch, I started receiving texts and I let her read them.

R: Ladies and Gentlemen

R: I am honoured to present to you, a new member of this family.

R: The kind, sweet, funny, cute, talented, intelligent, beautiful, generous, fantabulous....

And then both of our phones went off and she smiled. She was officially in the group chat.

R: Cupcake!

R: Well, most know her as Kiara.... but she's Cupcake.

Everyone started sending welcome texts and Kiara sat in my lap giggling as a huge wave of texts arrived and she texted back and thanked everyone. She enjoyed this new experience for sure.

She was adorable, just texting back and giggling at Remi's silliness. Then I texted Remi asking why he wasn't working. He told me leave him alone and continued to talk amongst everyone.

After that Kiara said she was going to go get something to eat and the texting died down. It was great to see her that way, talking to everyone so freely. She knew them all now. She got along with everyone and everyone loved her.

"Let's have some food." I said to her.

"Will you cook for me?" She asked, crawling into my lap.

"Of course. What do you want to eat?" I asked her.

"That garlic bread and the soup I had in my first night at the mansion with you." She said to me.

I smiled and brushed her hair away from her face with a smile.

"Come here." I said, pulling her into my arms and carrying her like I always used to.

I took her to the kitchen, plopped her on the counter and took a kiwi out of the fridge. I prepared it for her and I gave it to her on a plate with some strawberries. She ate them, swinging her feet back and forth happily and then I started on the soup and garlic bread.

"Remember when food was hard to eat?" I asked her.

"Mhm. I'm so happy that's over. I love food!" She said, smiling at me as she popped a strawberry in her mouth.

I chuckled and kissed her forehead.

"I'm supposed to get weighed today." She said.

"Yeah, you are. You still wanna do it?" I asked her.

"I don't know." She shrugged, looking down at her swinging feet.

"There's no reason to be nervous. We have all the time in the world to gain that weight and reach your goals." I said to her.

I was secretly hoping that she had already reached her goal because Remi and Arabella were planning a surprise party and I told them to plan it on her birthday. September fifteenth. She was turning twenty three. I was also hoping that at this party we could also celebrate her reaching her goal. She needed the encouragement.

"Your birthday is coming up." I said to her.

She nodded her head.

"Are you excited?" I asked her.

"For what?" She asked.

"Your birthday." I told her.

"Why would I be excited... it's just a regular day." She said.

"No, it isn't. It's the day my Kiwi was born." I said, kissing her forehead.

"Do people do special things on their birthdays?" She asked.

"Not everyone. But in this family we always celebrate birthdays. Everyone will probably get you a gift." I said to her.

"Oh no.... why? Please tell them not to. I don't need anything." She said.

"Hey, don't worry about it, ok? Everyone is going to get you a gift regardless of what you want. They all love you and they love buying gifts." I told her.

"I don't know all their birthdays... can you tell me when everyone's birthday is? I want to get them gifts too." She said to me.

I nodded, kissing her forehead.

"Alright. Maybe let's get weighed now.... before the meal." I said to her.

She nodded, rushing off to the bathroom. But she was really nervous because she knew both of us were hoping she would hit her goal.

"Kiara. It's ok if you're a little under. Don't worry about it." I said to her.

She shook her head.

"Hey, look at me, Kiwi." I said to her.

"I don't want to be under! You said one hundred and eight pounds and I've been trying for so long! I just want to reach the goal." She said.

"Alright. But it's ok if you're a little under. We have time." I said to her.

"I know, but it's gonna be so sad if I didn't reach the goal." She sighed.

"I know, baby. I know. But you shouldn't be so sad. Or nervous. Let's just see what your weight is and then we'll discuss." I said to her, taking her hand and kissing the back of it.

She took a deep breath and then she stepped onto the scale. She closed her eyes and looked straight ahead.

I watched the numbers rise until it reached one hundred and six pounds. I felt so bad seeing that number and knowing I had to tell Kiara that she hadn't met the goal.

"Done?" She asked me.

"Yup." I said to her, smiling.

"What? What is it?" She asked me.

"I'm so proud of you, Kiara. It's one hundred and six." I told her.

That's when she turned and left the room in anger. She was really upset. She truly had worked hard on reached this new goal. She was officially eating everything that she needed without needing supplements.

"Kiwi! You're doing so well, baby!" I called out as I approached the bedroom.

I heard her sobbing her heart out in there and I sighed, opening the door and finding her in bed with the blankets thrown over her.

"Kiwi." I said softly.

"No." She mumbled.

"Come on, baby. You did so well. You've gained seven pounds since last time." I told her.

"It should've been ten!" She growled.

"Kiara. This isn't a big deal, baby. Come on. You should be so proud of yourself." I said to her.

"No!" She growled.

"Kiwi... will you at least come eat the meal I made you?" I asked her.

"You better have put extra butter on that garlic bread, Vidal!" She growled, getting up and stomping to the kitchen. She pulled the garlic bread out of the oven and she started eating even with tears streaming down her cute face.

"Stop it. Kiara. There's nothing to cry about." I said to her, getting on my knees in front of her while she sat in a chair with her arms crossed.

I wiped away her tears and she put the garlic bread down, throwing herself into my lap and crying over my shoulder.

"Aw, baby." I said, rubbing her back.

"I wanna get better." She cried.

"You are better." I said, kissing her on her cheek.

"No. I wanna get better and be a healthy weight." She cried.

"You're getting there. Remember what I said last time when your weight wasn't quite what we expected? It's ok to struggle and for things not to go as planned. If you keep working hard, you'll get there. You're so close." I said to her.

"It's not fair." She sobbed, clutching my shirt tightly in her delicate hands.

"I know, baby. I know." I said, kissing her forehead.

She cried for another few minutes, but I just wanted my happy girl back.

"Come back to me, Kiwi." I said softly.

"B-but I'm right he-here." She said softly.

"No, I want my happy kiwi back." I said to her.

"I'm the same Kiwi... just a sad version." She cried.

"No. My kiwi sees the good side to everything, where is she?" I asked. "Come back to me, Kiwi."

"I'm just sad." She said, plopping against my chest.

"And it's ok to be sad. But, baby, we've had such a good day. There's no need to be sad right now. Let's just keep having a fun day, alright?" I asked her.

"And do what?" She asked me.

"Hm... how about you finish that garlic bread, I'll get you some soup and eat with you. Then we can go out, baby." I said to her, kissing her forehead.

"The beach?" She asked me.

"Sure thing, the winter's coming and we won't have the opportunity to go to the beach as much unless we fly to the island.... might as well make the most of this good weather." I told her.

"When can we move there, Vivi?!" She asked me, suddenly remembering it.

"As soon as things settle down a little more with the company." I said to her.

"You're gonna start the business soon?" She asked me.

"Yup. After your birthday, I think I'll start working on it for real, right now it's just preparation, maybe we'll try to find a building." I told her.

"Why after my birthday?" She asked me.

"I don't know. I just need time to plan everything out and I was thinking around your birthday I'd have everything sorted." I told her.

"Ok... and I can do some work with you?" She asked me.

"Of course. As much as you want, my little smart kiwi." I smiled, kissing all over her face and making her giggle.

"Now let's eat and I'll pamper you all day, how does that sound, Kiwi?" I asked her.

"I'm not complaining." She giggled.

"Alright. We'll eat, then I'll brush my kiwi's hair out like old times, then we can get dressed and go to the beach, if you want we can do that cliff jumping if it's calm enough out there. After that we'll get you some tasty ice cream, we can go visit Aunt Em and get some clothes.... Then we can go pick up your shampoo from Nana, and get some food at Angel's.... then we can go visit the bunnies and then go stargazing... and once we get home, I'll give my kiwi a massage and we can get you some warm cuddles before bed. How does that sound, Amore?" I asked her.

"Amore?" She asked.

"Don't worry about it. It's just a nickname." I said to her, kissing her forehead.

"Ok....? I want to do all that... it sounds perfect. As long as you have fun too." She said to me.

"Will you smile for me? Will you enjoy yourself and try to have the best day ever?" I asked her.

"Yes." She giggled.

"Then I'm going to have fun." I smiled, kissing her cheeks as she giggled and hid in my embrace.

I proceeded to carry her around all day and baby her. Which seemed to be exactly what she needed after the disappointment she'd had. My poor baby just needed lots of cuddles. God, she was so cute!
