4 hours have passed and I was still driving. Me, Kai and Leo were supposed to take turns driving, but they were asleep in the back. All of them were asleep except me.
I heard whimpers and mumbling beside me and I turned my head towards Athena as she furrowed her eyebrows asleep. Tears were streaming down her face.
Should I wake her up? I was contemplating my options right now.
I slowed down the car and tapped her shoulder carefully. She mumbled something and started stirring around. I tapped her shoulder again but putting more pressure this time. Her eyes flew open revealing her mesmerizing green eyes.
"Are you okay?" I asked, slowing down and stopping it at the side, I turned my head to look at her tear stained cheeks.
She looked at me and furrowed her eyebrows, "What? Yeah I'm okay. Why?"
I raised an eyebrow. "You're crying..."
She narrowed her eyes as she took out her phone and checked herself in the camera and her eyes widened in realization. Shit, I'm not good comforting people.
"Uh do you maybe wanna talk about it?"I asked clearing my throat.
She stayed silent and instead she walked out the car as I trailed behind her. We both sat down on the sidewalk seeing the view of the green mountains as the clouds hovered over them.
She must've took my silence as a answer as she started talking.
"Seven..." she broke the silence still staring at the view in front of us.
"What?"
"I was seven when my..."she trailed of but stopped herself. She clenched her fist and closed her eyes. "It's was my birthday, we were returning home from a restaurant."
"That night was the last night I slept at peace." She whispered. "Even if I did try, the nightmares follow."

Her voice was steady but her eyes said otherwise. They were filled with such emotion.
"It was late, very late. My mom grabbed my hand and took me to a hidden room we had." She said, grabbing the strands of her hair and fidgeting with them. "My dad was left alone in the living room. She told me to stay where I was and to not make a sound." Her voice cracked at the mention of her parents making me realize what was about to happen.
"She gave me this necklace. Two charms, one of my dad, one of my mom. A dagger and a computer. She told me to carry this necklace everywhere because they were always with me wherever I was." She closed her eyes only to open them second later.
"I wanted to scream but I didn't for the sake of my life and what my mother told me. I heard yells and then two gunshots rang out. My mom and my dad. Two bullets."
She lifted her knees up to her chest as she rested her head there.
"I was left with nothing. I was by myself." She said shaking her head. "I don't even know who killed them."
Without thinking I grabbed her and wrapped my hands around her. If I didn't know what to say I might as well use my actions. She tensed for a moment but she quickly relaxed, wrapping her small arms around me.
"You know, just because I'm hugging you doesn't mean we're friends." I joked slightly laughing.
She shuffled in my arms and raised her head to look at me. She chuckled, "Yeah, I know. Let's pretend this never happened for the sake of our ego." She whispered.
I laughed and nodded. She slowly released her hold on me and stood still staring at me. Until now I noticed the way her eyes slightly widened when she was happy and the way she fidgets with her hair when she's nervous. She backed away turning back to the car. I averted my eyes and looked at the view.
"Thanks, ."
I turned my head to the side. "For what?"
"For listening to me." Was the last thing I heard before she left.
