"There she is!" Theo's voice booms as he enters the classroom. "The head bitch of CV High."

I let out a humorless laugh as he slips into the seat next to mine. According to Samaya, ever since my brawl with Kenzie, my popularity has gone "through the roof." While I haven't noticed that, I have noticed that Kenzie didn't come to school today.

"Funny," I say, shaking my head as Theo grins at me.

"I mean, I knew that you were confident but I was not expecting that. The whole school knows your name."

Is that supposed to be a good thing? "Technically, neither one of us won," I say.

"Yeah, but we all know who the real winner was," he says. "I mean, she was ready to beat your ass. You're younger and smaller but you came out and rocked her shit."

"You were there?"

He shakes his head. "I saw a video. Pretty hot stuff."

I grimace. Of course there's a video.

"So that guy who carried you out. That your boyfriend?" Theo asks.

My thoughts shift to Nico. "No," I say. "He's... a friend."

Theo nods and smiles. "Good." Then he adds, "Wanna come to Matt K.'s party tomorrow?"

I pause. Despite what everyone says, I didn't think that Theo was interested in me as more than a friend. I don't know if I'm interested in him as more than a friend. I mean, he is attractive. Plus, it's just a party, right?

"Sure," I reply and he smiles.

"Pick you up at 10."

"There she is! The head bitch of CV High!" Samaya jokes as we walk to lunch. Oh geez. "How does it feel to suddenly be the most desirable woman in the whole school?"

I give her a look. "It feels like my best friend likes to exaggerate a lot."

"Seriously, though. I've had, like, five guys ask me for your number," she says. See, the difference between me and Samaya is that she even knows five guys.

"That's kind of disturbing," I say and she shrugs.

"I heard Brian's pissing his pants because you suddenly glo'd up. And he's stuck with Kenzie. Hah."

I shove her lightly. "At least they have each other."

She snorts. "For now. Let's see how long that lasts. Anyways, do you want me to give your number to the guys?"

"What, they can't ask me themselves?" I say. "I'm good. Plus, I'm going to Matt's party with Theo tomorrow night."

She wiggles her eyebrows. "Ooh, a date?" she sing-songs. "I guess there really is nothing going on between you and Nico then. Then again, Nico isn't the type to do exclusive relationships."

"He isn't?" I ask even though I already knew that. "Or, nevermind," I say, hoping she'll brush it off.

"Not really. Ooh, anyways. What are you gonna wear for your date?" she asks, emphasizing the word "date."

"It's not a date. It's just a party."

Samaya smiles. "Well, I'm glad. I mean, Theo's cute."

I respond with a thoughtful nod. "Yeah."

"And this is a good opportunity for you to move on. So be excited!"

"He's nice," I say. "I think... I could consider having feelings for him."

Samaya rolls her eyes. "You don't pick and choose who you have feelings for but ok. I'm just glad you're happy."

I give her a grateful smile. "You're gonna come with me, right?"

She hooks her arm in mine. "Of course. It's gonna be so much fun."
