He.sat.next.to.me
My mind was going crazy. The movie was coming to an end. I wasn't sure I could hold out until the credits. He wasn't saying anything and I wasn't saying anything either. If he did what would I say?
The final scene was playing out. I tightened my grip on my bag strap. Should I just get up?
"What did you think of the movie?" He suddenly spoke in his deep voice.
That surprised me. What do I say?
I turned to face him and I realized he was so.close.to.me
I turned my head away. "What?"
"What did you think of the movie?" He turned his head towards the screen.
"I liked it. It's one of my favorites." I answered my heart beating like crazy and my air running out.
"Do you think you would have gotten off the train if you were in her place?" He asked so gently and nonchalantly yet I felt like he asked a very important question.
"I would." I cleared my throat. "If I have a connection with someone like she had on the train, I would. I don't want to have any regrets in life."
What were we doing? Why was he asking me this and making it even more awkward? It's not like we didn't know each other. I mean we didn't know each other, heck I don't even know his name but..
Argh.. Should I mention Momo? But I feel like it would break whatever it is that we are doing right now and somehow it doesn't feel right stopping it.
What am I even thinking? I'm going mental.
"Would um..would you ask someone to get off the train with you like that?" I asked not sure why.

He turned his head towards me and I could see it at the corner of my eye, but I focused on the projector screen.
"Yes." He answered and then turned back at the screen speaking so low only I could hear him. "I liked the movie as well. I think what I like most about it is how realistic it is."
That's exactly what I thought. The movie is so realistic to the point that I wonder if it was scripted.
He glanced back at me. "I think, people that, when they like someone so much they choke on their words around them, really have the best chemistry. People try to skip over that embarrassment too fast."
I glanced back my eyes meeting his.
"And um.. when they get so self-aware yet they can't stop themselves from acting foolish. Makes it seem way more special than saying the right thing all the time." I whispered.
The lights on the projector went off and the movie was done. The waiters started taking the chairs back on their places.
There was an awkward silence between us.
"Would you.." He started and stopped mid sentence.
"Yes?" I asked, wanting to hear it. Anything he had to say.
"Would you like to spend the day with me?" His eyes searched mine for answers.
He was waiting for a "no". I could tell. But he wasn't telling me to "forget about it either". He waited.
"Yes." I said. I did it. I said yes.
He moved a bit closer. "But I have a condition."
I waited.
"Only for today. Until sunset. No names, no personal stories. Just one day as strangers. If they can do it in the movie, why can't we." He said.
My heartbeat really fast. "Alright."
