《Angel | ✓》30 - The Basement

I scream as I hear the bang sound, but I instantly shoot my head up as my yell is drowned out by another's.
Conner's.
Quickly taking in the scene, I see Francis had burst open the door and had Connor in a choke hold on the floor.
There were veins bulging out of his neck in anger as he commanded the guards behind him to round up the guests here and search their rooms to search for accomplices.
I stand there dumbfound from what just happened and as I see Connor's eyes slowly closing from the lack of oxygen, I spring into action and push Francis off the body.
The gang leader looks up to me, there was fury in his eyes that made me cower back, but I stop to check if Connor was alive.
I put two fingers on his neck and let out a sigh of relief at the feel of his slowed heartbeat, he was still unconscious though.
When I look back at Francis, he's standing there sending a death glare towards me before pulling me up by the arm and making me face him directly.
"Why the hell did you save him?!" he yells into my ear, making me squint my eyes from the noise. "He was going to kill you and you still save him from death!"
He shakes me, but I wait from him to stop so that I could speak. I held my patience, knowing that it was his disorder making him think like this, irrationally.
"Connor was forced to do this," I say confidently. "When he was holding the gun, he was trembling and scared. If someone wanted to kill me they would do it with pride. He didn't want to do it. He said he needed to. Someone made him do this."
As I finish my assumption, my arm is released from the rough grasp and I see him, running over the evidence in my head. "It makes sense." he utters, and I wearily smile at him, making his eyes sting with regret.
"I'm sorry Angel." he says admittedly and takes my hand in his, showering it with kisses.
I laugh weakly and look past him to ask a worker to take the unconscious killer on the floor to the hospital, but after I said hospital, he glances at Francis before nodding and taking him away.
When I tried to walk out of the room, I was still being covered by Francis. I could tell he was too skittish to leave me alone right now. Glancing frequently at me, his grasp on my hand tightened as we walked by the guests who were being ushered to leave.

I caught a glimpse of Sienna, but before I could get her attention, I noticed a scowl on her face and hatred in her eyes, and her hand wrapped around a wine glass as if it was a neck.
Francis led me away, to our room and laid me in the bed. I moved over for him to lay down next to me but that only made him chuckle quietly. "Sorry love, but I need to deal with what just happened." he explained, sounding sincere and I nod as he walks out of the room.
And as soon as I close my eye, I drift into sleep.
When I leave Valentina, I can't hold in my anger any more.
I crack my fists against each other, and my wings come out instinctively.
How dare someone try to hurt her.
On her special night.
On the night that was supposed to be centred around her but that bastard had to go and pull a gun to her head.
I arrive to the basement doors and swings the doors open, frightening even the guards at the door, making me scoff.
The halls of this basement was filled with screams and wails of pain, music to my ears.
Walking past numerous cells, there were people locked up. They were lunging at the bars in attempt to scare me, but I couldn't care less. All I wanted was to get answers.
Sliding the door opened, I was welcomed with the stench of blood and a smile crawl over my face as I see him tied to the wall, clothes stained with blood and skin covered in bruises. Both wrists look dislocated and so does one of his knees.
I got one of my men to take care of him, Alex. His specialty was giving a victim near death, make them feel like they could die at any second, but they never do. I love it.
Alex is standing over the body with a devious smirk on his face and he nods as greeting. My eyes fill with disgust as I looked down at the disgusting rat and I grab a fist full of his hair and yank it up, forcing him to look at me.
"Why did you do it, you little fuck?" I demand in a low tone and when I looked into his eyes they're filled with anger, but I could see the fear he was covering up, the information he knew.
"I'm not telling you shit!" he yelled and tried to spit at me, but it falls short into his lap. This doesn't affect him however as his psychotic laugh sounds in the room. But it stops as I upper hook is chest, making him cough out blood.

"I'll give you credit for the acting, Connor." I pause at the name.
"Connor." I chuckle, and it escalates to a laugh. "Really Aaron? Connor was the best name you could think of!" I ask with a cackle and he looks me in the eye as he spits out blood, showing me the blood swelling in his mouth and staining his teeth.
I walk around the room and finally turn and sit on the chair in front of him.
"Also, you still owe me that twenty thousand for heroine I gave you," My tone was dangerous, but he stays silent.
I had talked to Aaron a few times and he had worked as a hitman for me for a while until he proved himself unloyal by stealing form me and I banished him from my gang.
"But onto the topic, hm?" I signal to Alex to unchain Aaron, knowing that he would be too weak to walk, let alone escape.
As predicted he drops to the floor, groaning and I pick him up by the collar and raise him in the air. "Who hired you as a hitman."
"No-no one. I-I did it myself" Aaron gasps out, struggling to breath, but I just scoff.
"Death is a few seconds away Aaron. Tell me or I'll make it harder." I hiss and I see the panic flare in his eyes.
"That whore made me do it!" he choked out, spitting blood along with the words. "She threatened me!" I dropped him to the floor.
"Who-" I tried to ask him, but I'm interrupted by him spluttering and coughing up blood, too much for my liking. The room is loud one second, but then quiet the other second.
Moving my foot to his face, I tilt it off the ground and stare at his lifeless eyes.
"We'll have to find out another way now." I groan and run my hand through my hair in annoyance.
Alex nods and slings the corpse over his shoulder but not before nudging me with a smirk on his face. "So, you and Ms Val, huh?" he chuckles, and I glare at him but nod.
"I'm glad you did it man, but just don't screw it up." he says casually, and I double take when walking down the basement with him.
"What do you mean by that?" I ask quickly, agitated that he would question my actions toward my love.
He puts his hands up playfully but seriousness in his eyes. "You've seen the history of gang leader's with Queens, man. They are faithful to their girl, but after a few weeks they go off to fuck someone else." he says.
I part ways with Alex, his words echoing around my head. Don't screw it up- don't screw it up- My fists curl as I think of hurting her. I would never do it accidentally, never mind intentionally.
My mind drains as I open the door and find her lying in bed peacefully. There's a gentle breeze brushing her face that's coming from the open balcony door. I smiled and closed the glass door, not wanting for her to catch a cold.
As I got into bed, her eyelashes shift slightly so she can see it's me. At the sight she smiles, making me pulled her closer, and I rest my head next to her stomach, allowing her to run her fingers through my hair softly.
It was the best feeling. To have her this close to me, to have anyone touch me like this. But at the thought of her being gone, it scared me. Would I mess it all up?
I look up to my Angel and see her eyes are closed but her lips are parted with a smile, I furrow my eyebrows. I pull myself up so I can rest my head on her neck.
"You know I would never hurt you intentionally.. right?" I ask quietly, patient for her response as I feel her hands stop in my hair.
She hums before speaking. "Yes, I know." she whispers, probably too tired to talk properly.
I smile and kiss her neck multiple times, wanting to feel her soft skin against my lips. It escalates and I softly suck on the skin, leaving more and more marks on her skin. She groans quietly under my breath, and she weakly tries to push me off, to which I comply to.
Her eyes are open weakly but still full of life. "What was that for?" she giggles quietly, and I turn her, so her back is against my chest.
"To serve as a reminder that you belong to me, and I belong to you."
