《The Legacy of a Pirate》Chapter 5 Pirate City Aldine

"Allllright you dogs! Today didn't turn out the way it was supposed to..." Liam said as he frowns slightly. "But we still have our haul from earlier last week! I want that stuff unloaded quickly, so we can have some fun! Gahahaha!"
"Aye captain!"
The crew members cheered as they quickly got to work after Liam roared his orders.
Once we docked at the port, the crew members worked fast to move merchandise off the ship.
I breathed the nice familiar air of my home and started to make my way out of the crow's nest.
The official name of the entire place is called Pirate City Aldine. The city is formed by pirates who banded together to make a living together. Amazingly, the island the city sits on is able to move across the ocean as if it was alive. The constant movement of the island keeps the city safe from the Imperials as the ocean was quite massive.
The ones that frequently leave the city have to use a unique compass to lead them back. Otherwise good luck you aren't coming back home.
In the city, there is an organization of pirates, but it isn't at all what most people think.
The organization is called the Brotherhood, but we are far from being beloved brothers. We are more like acquaintances that only look for a benefit from the other and when they can't? Well...
I helped move our merchandise once I was down on the deck. However, after an hour of work I suddenly remembered something important.
"Oi, Captain I'm taking off! I promised someone that I would visit once I made it back to Aldine! I'll meet you guys at the base!" I shouted as I sped off towards the city.
"Sigh...That boy is going off to see that girl again at the hospital. And at this hour?"Liam shrugged his shoulders before he continued to order his crew around as they made their way to the Axe Lion's base of operations.

A few of the residents would say hello to me as I was a familiar face around these parts of the city.
The city of Aldine wasn't just a place for pirates, but a place for normal people who couldn't handle being under the Imperial's rule. The city has numerous businesses, schools for kids, and even laws to keep it all in order. However, there are sometimes where pirates act as if they are above the law here.
They are after all pirates...
"I-I paid you guys already for the month! I don't have anything else at the moment!"
I stopped by an incident nearby where two rough-looking pirates surrounded a frightened chubby looking man in front of his store.
"Eh? I don't remember receiving money from you yet...Did you receive money from him?"One of the pirates asked the other with a snicker.
"No, I haven't received anything and to think we have been protecting your store for years. And you accuse us of already receiving our pay? Who do you think you are?!"The pirate grabbed the chubby man by the neck, slamming him into the door of the chubby man's store.
"Agh!"The chubby man groaned in pain from the impact. It sounded as if something was broken.
The surrounding people quickly dispersed as they didn't want to get involved with the pirates.
"I-I swear that I paid...I-I even have the proof!"The man struggled to reach into his pocket, pulling out a slip of paper. However, the pirate holding him would smack it out of his hand. The paper slowly fell to the ground, and the pirate stepped on it ruthlessly.
"Oh... you should really hold onto those things better...So about that pay... let's talk inside shall wee?"The two pirates laughed at the chubby man's misery as they were about to enter the store. However, I immediately took action, and pulled out my gun, aiming it at the leg of the pirate holding the chubby man.

*BANG!*
"Ahhhhhhh!!!" The pirate immediately dropped the chubby man as he screamed in pain. He fell onto the ground while holding his leg. Blood quickly formed a small pool under him as he tightly held his leg.
(Why do I feel so angry about this!?..... I just don't like their faces that's all!)
I gradually walked over and picked up the paper, looking at its contents, "Oi, it says the man paid..." I scowled as my eyes instantly turned multicolored.
One of the things here in Aldine is that when pirates do business with ordinary citizens, there is a need for physical proof. The Brotherhood came up with that idea as one of the ways to keep other lowly pirates in their places.
(I can't even call these guys pirates they are just two stupid thugs just waiting to get killed!)
I aimed my gun at the other pirate's head, and his hands instantly went up into the air. I could see the sweat pouring from his forehead.
"A-alright kid..it was just a joke. We weren't going to do anything to man here hone-"
I placed the muzzle against the pirate's head and pushed him backward slightly.
"One more word...and I'll kill you right now!" I shouted before I looked down at the chubby beside me.
"Old man."
"Y-yes?"The chubby man answered as he continued to shiver from fear. The multicolored eyes on the boy were sending him danger signals one after the other.
"You are under our care now. The Axe Lion's will gladly take the position of protecting this store."
"Ah! R-really?!" The chubby man asked as he crawled over to me, despite the pain he was in.
I slightly nodded before I reached into my pocket, and pulled out an emblem of the Axe Lion's flag.
I handed the emblem over to the chubby man with a flick. "Keep that and visit our place tomorrow to set it up. We won't take payment until next month."
"Ahhh..." The chubby man held the emblem as if it was gold and realized how lucky he is to have met this young boy. The Axe Lions! One of four major powers of the Brotherhood!
"Now just go get yourself checked out when you can."
"Yes, savior!" I definitely will! Thank you so much!"The chubby man nodded his head gratefully as he slowly made his way into his store with a smile on his face. Once he was out of sight, I would focus on these two pirates in front of me.
"Oi, you...pick your friend up!" I shouted as waved my gun towards the fallen pirate.
"Y-yes!!" The pirate screeched in terror as he quickly helped the other one who was still bleeding up onto his feet.
"Now get out of here before I really kill you!" I shouted as I released my killing intent. The two pirates screamed in terror as they quickly disappeared from my sight.
I slowly placed my gun back into my holster and glanced at my hand. It was shaking!
(I don't understand...) I grabbed my shaking hand tightly as sweat started to drip from my brow.
"Why do I feel so...."
That was the last words I muttered before I passed out in the middle of the street.

Embrace the Blade
Born crippled, it was no surprise when James Ransom died young, but he was offered an opportunity - a mission: to go to a new world and become strong enough to kill the hidden boss behind the final boss. Now in a new world he must research and study the system to take advantage of it, find his strengths; form alliances and find party members to become strong enough to face the end. This story does use Multiple perspectives and tells stories that add to the MC's. I've been given this feedback enough that I feel the need to mention that growth (levels, skills, classes, etc.) is slow, intentionally so, but constant. Credit for the cover goes to a commission for KemptBones from DeviantArt for the cover. This book is a rewrite of the original Embrace the Blade. The timeline for this one is completely separate and you do not need to read the original to understand what is going on. If you want to check out the original you can find it here (just a warning that they are NOT good): ETB Drafts 1&2 If you came here from the original EtB, WELCOME!!

The Infinite Labyrinth
(Story complete - Book 1 "Shanghaied", 2 "Shortcuts", 3 "Secrets" and 4 "Sanctions") It is the 19th century, and war smoulders between England and France. Any hope for a quick end to Napoleon's rampage across Europe ended when the Great Gates opened in 1800. For a fortunate few, the strange world of the Infinite Labyrinth offers opportunities, strange descriptors popping in their minds, informing them of growth, and status beyond that of a mere mortal. The materials and power crystal they bring back foster a new age, both military and civilian. Aether-powered Skyships prowl the skies, as all the great nations blessed by the Gates try to turn the blessings of the Labyrinth into immediate advantages. But for Jonas, an apprentice leatherworker, his friend Ira, and so many Londoners, the fabled ones that walk the Labyrinth are distant heroes, seen from afar. They fell short when their Potential was measured, and they fill their mundane lives with distant dreams. One man wants to break the stalemate. The Tyrant of the Dominion of France, Napoleon Bonaparte, has a plan. Eighteen years after the world changed, he will force it to change again. And when civilians are caught in the fallout, the unthinkable happens. Six people, unqualified, forbidden to ever enter the Labyrinth, find themselves stranded in a distant zone, forcefully turned into Professionals. They know little of what that means, but they have to figure out the rules that are now their lot, for they have little hope to escape their predicament otherwise. They need to understand what the descriptors in their minds mean, what each of the strange piece of gear waiting in treasure chests behind terrible guardians can bring them. They have to become Professionals on their own and rejoin the Empire. They will figure out their new lives one way or another. But will there be an Empire waiting for them when the Gates re-open? Caught in a clash of empires and high tiers, they will do what little they can. They will step up and do their best. One way or another. The Infinite Labyrinth is a slice-of-life litRPG adventure set in a real historical setting. It's a hard, crunchy litrpg. Expect blue boxes everywhere, and the system itself is very mathy. It started life as a serial. I prepared some proper worldbuilding, with enough details and background for lots of different potential story arcs, but as I wrote, I realized the main story needs to have a definitive end. So, there are four books in total, for a bit under 1500 pages, plus additional side stories, and even maybe a sequel one day. The Gore tag was added as a precaution because there are a few scenes with some light gore.
