《Uzziye became a florist》Chapter 7 - Anxious

“There’s water over there for you to bathe. You can sleep in that room.”
“Thank you very much. My name is Uzziye Bakker. What’s yours?”
He ignores me and leaves the house.
So this is the room where I’ll sleep. Well, it’s better than sleeping in the cold forest surrounded by monsters. Who am I fooling? This place is terrible and smells like shit. Literally.
The bath isn’t as bad, but there is no towel. I approach the water to see its temperature. Cold.
I search the house for a towel and wood to heat the water. I see wood outside the house through the window in the kitchen. I pick some and start a fire.
I tie my hair into a bun. ‘Cause there’s no towel, I can’t wash my hair. My hair is long; it reaches my butt. I can’t be walking around or sleeping with my hair wet in this cold. But I clean myself as best as I can. I use my hands to wash the back of my ears, my face, my boobs, the spaces between my fingers.
In short, I bathe for half an hour. I use the back of my hand to wipe myself.
Yes, I’m stupid. I forgot to bring a towel with me. But who doesn’t have one? Aside from me.
Towel or not, I’m clean and ready to sleep. I go to my room and cover myself in the dirty blankets.
I’m tired, but I don’t feel like sleeping. I need to continue my journey. There’s nothing good waiting for me in this place. But when will it be good enough? How should my ideal place be? A city? A town? Where is a good place to start a family? What?! How can someone like me think of having a family? I’ve been wanting one since my parents died! I endured that abyss called orphanage just to have a family again!

What happened there is a story for another time. Or rather, I don’t want to mention it again.
What was I at? Oh, right. Do I prefer cold or warm weather? But thinking about those things is useless if I can’t get pregnant. First, I need a man, or a few of them, that have the blessings of the gods. I need someone exceptional. You probably think I’m the problem; I thought that too, so I went to check myself. Everything is okay; my period is normal, once every two months like everyone.
If I had to choose between a kid or a partner, I’d choose a kid. I want to marry and be taken care of, but I prefer to spoil and take care of my baby.
While I’m lost in my thoughts, I hear the door open.
These creepy bastards. I hope he’s decent enough to wake me up. I don’t see the appeal to have sex with a sleeping person; it’s like doing it with a corpse. What a disgusting taste. The joy of having sex is in knowing more about the other person and share pleasure and love between them. It pisses me off to wake up with semen coming out of me. Who was it? Did they like it? I’ll never know. Bastards.
Why do I keep pretending to be sleeping if I hate it? ‘Cause I want to get pregnant. I know these villagers are weak and probably can’t impregnate me, but one never knows.
Wait a moment, I can hear him moving my things. He doesn’t want sex?! He came to steal!
I open my eyes and sit.
“Can I help you?”
He stumbles and drops my things.
I can’t believe it. Though I should have noticed since I reached this place. When I traveled with other adventurer teams to other towns, people approached me and touched me all over. There were kisses too; and, of course, sex. But these people didn’t stare at me with their mouths open, ‘cause for them, survival comes first. They want to steal from me!

I stand and approach him.
“Stealing is bad, you know? Please leave.”
“Get her!”
“What?”
I turn around and see three other men approaching with a rope. The other man takes my bow and aims towards me. I take just a second to analyze the situation and come up with a strategy. I raise my hands and surrender.
“Please, don’t hurt me.”
I can’t believe I didn’t notice the other men.
I could escape. Leaving this place without fighting and hurting people is easy. But I can’t leave without my saber. My adoptive father entrusted me with something I can’t do, but at the very least, I can take care of the last saber. I can find someone who inherits it. And as long as they don’t hurt me, this kind of play isn’t as bad. They also look so weak I don’t think they’ll last more than two days.
Just as a reference, I can have sex for a week with two hours of sleep daily. Amazing, isn’t it?
They tie me and take me out of the house. I walk nervously. I didn’t expect the entire village to want to have sex with me. They look at me with hope in their eyes.
I’m confused. I may be like a goddess in their eyes, but sex is just sharing love. There’s no more to it. Well, kids. But sex can’t give hope. If it did, I wouldn’t be like this. Though being the goddess of these villagers seems exciting.
We continue walking towards the edge of the village. Then the villagers started chanting. I don’t like this.
“‘Hark at tu. Ters pre ra. Hark at tu. Ters pre ra.’”
“Wait! What are you going to do?!”
I struggle to break free and run. They catch me and punch me. One of them wraps the rope around my neck and strangles me. The villagers drag me towards the forest and tie me into a tree.

The Girl from the Mountain
Alexandra Bedford is a weapon, a young woman with telekinetic powers capable of leveling entire cities, born to fight in the desolate remains of post-apocalyptic North America. There is only one problem: she may be losing control of her abilities. Sixteen years after a global pandemic devastated the earth’s population, the lines in the old United States have been drawn between the Cheyenne Directorate in Colorado and the New England Alliance on the East Coast. The Directorate, of which Alexandra is a part, is a small but powerful organization dedicated to returning the country to its former glory. However, when a diplomatic mission to the New England Alliance goes wrong, Alexandra finds herself at the center of a bloody civil war. Battles are fought on the old highways and in dilapidated towns and once-great cities. And as the conflict escalates, all of North America faces the threat of being burnt away by nuclear fire. Against this backdrop of war, Alexandra tries to uncover the long-hidden secrets behind the plague, her abilities, and the two men fighting to decide the fate of the United States - Henry Bedford, Alexandra's father and leader of the Directorate, and John Martin, the mysterious figure at the heart of the New England Alliance who may hold the key to everything she seeks. None of this will matter, however, unless Alexandra can prevent the power growing inside her from taking over and consuming the very world she is fighting to save. Author's Notes: I appreciate you taking a look at my novel, The Girl from the Mountain. If you're a fan of post-apocalyptic fiction, military thrillers, and/or cosmic horror, I think you'll enjoy this story. I completed the novel's first draft back in 2011 and made significant changes in 2016. Since then, I've more-or-less sat on the manuscript while working on other projects. Thanks to a bit of prodding, I've decided to send this story out into the wild with some touch-ups and additional revisions. I welcome any comments or criticisms, and I hope you enjoy The Girl from the Mountain!
