《The Gods' Decree》Keeping in line

In the Fitness and Strength Gym located at the West side of a City, sat an elderly man in black with a frown on his face. Before him kneeling down were the Muscular owner of the gym Salvar and other members.
They all looked with fear and dismay at the seated figure. The elder seating in front tapped on the chair rest as he looked on his newly recruited subjects.
" Tell me.., what did I say your task was Salvar?"
He asked while looking at the Muscular gym leader Salvar.
" To... gather as many suitable recruits to test your concoction senior "
Salvar stuttered along as he saw the look of annoyance displayed on the Elder's face.
" Suitable huh...."
" What criteria were you given for your selection of candidates?"
The elder asked while he continued to tap with his fingertips on the chair.
" Senior stated they must be of supreme talent for mortals and under the age of 25"
Salvar continued to kneel while bowing his head to the elder in his chair.
" Oh, that is what I stated indeed. So let me ask, why the hell are there so many wastes before me?"
" It seems that we lack understanding as to the definition of talent"
The senior Continuously frowned as he saw the kneeling members before him.
" Senior please calm your anger as these were the best that could be recruited"
Salvar shook as he thought of the consequences of his action.
" So in a city of hundreds of thousands, this is the best that you could find, utter trash"
" I am one that hates disappointment Salvar, I gave you a task but I also offered benefits".
" Your gym is flourishing due to my concoction and influence for the last 4 years. Your members are happy with their quick gains in bodily strength and mass."

"Now in my book that is me doing my share of our agreed arrangement, and quite effectively I may add. Since this is the case, why make me upset then? I have to ask myself, does Salvar not value his puny life "
The elder looked on as his frown oddly started to turn to an evil smirk.
" Please elder, we did all that can be done. We even cooperated with the other gyms and even those vermin gangs that plague the city"
Salvar begged as he knew he was talking to a merciless being at the moment.
Die!!!!
A foot came crashing down on Salvar's head and that was the last thing he saw, as his head was crushed like meat paste.
The gym became a place of gloom and doom as everyone who witnessed Salvar's death begun to panic with fear. Not a word was dared uttered as they looked on the elderly man before them.
" who was next in charge after the recently dear departed Salvar"
The Elder man in black looked around and asked.
" I..i am senior. My name is Sara and I am second in charge of the gym activities"
A woman with red hair came up as she nervously stuttered after witnessing the death of her former boss.
" I give you a warning Sara, look at your former leader and ask yourself. Do I want the same fate?"
" If your answer after asking yourself that question is no, then do not disappoint me"
He appeared before the young looking lady named Sara and squeezed her cheeks as he warned with his scrawny fingers.
" Before he mentioned something about vermin gangs. New leader fill me in on the details"
The seat became occupied once more as he sat and surveyed the redhead leader and then questioned.

"This city is home to a numerous amount of gangs. Most members are under the age of 25 and usually are quite talented in the means of fighting. This is due to their continuous brawling in the streets"
The redhead Sara stated nervously, as she tried to answer the question as best as she possibly could without leaving any details out.
" Is that so? Hmmm.. bring these members so I can see if they have any actual use"
He shrugged while Sara went into some details about the gangs.
.....
An hour later, a group of hundreds entered the gym loudly and started to survey the room as if looking for a person. When they eyed the sitting elder they toned down their voices as a means of respect.
" Is this the gang members you mentioned I wonder?"
The Elder observed the members as they each walked in as he questioned
" Senior indeed these are the members. There are 12 gangs that are said to be the strongest in the city."
The nervous redhead Sara replied while taking note of the Elder's every expression.
" Well, this lot seems to have more promise than the others. Have them take the concoction and let me see the results"
He was ready to dismiss the group when he saw a few members with bruises and dislocated limbs.
" So this is how vicious your brawls are? I like indeed. Fear should never be a factor in wars. What gangs are you from?"
The bruise members came in front of the group. They were none other than the Eternal Death and Violet Sun.
" Sir we are both the Eternal Death and Violet Sun, gangs"
Brent the baldie took the lead and reported.
" Haha.., so who was the victor?"
For the first time, they saw the elder with a grin on his face. It was a strange sight as they never seen this man smile. Soon the two gangs became the focal point in the gym.
The two gangs, however, were not interested in the limelight and wish they could dig a hole and bury themselves.
Seeing that the members seemingly acting odd and there was no response the elder became even more intrigued. He then frowned and asked the same question with a chill in his voice.
" Senior there was no victor, rather we were all victims"
Brent sheepishly answered after seeing the elder becoming angry by their slow reply.
" Oh, where is the gang that inflicted these damages? Come forth let me see you"
He urged and looked on the hundreds of gang members. However, no one came forward after the spoken words.
After seeing the elder about to cut lose and do some unspeakable acts, Brent the baldie hurriedly replied
" Sir the victor is not in the room. In fact, it is not even a gang that did this to us but an individual. It is a youth we call The Mouse".

The Chronicles of Artharian Dagworth
Back in 2020 there were many theories on how the world would end. From the many religions apocalypses, nuclear wars that would leave the planet inhabitable, global warming doing the same, biological weapons getting out of control, viruses mutating into unstoppable diseases to the dead raising to prey on humanity, either due to a virus or just because hell filled up. Also, aliens, from the war mongering kind to the ones so advanced they didn’t see us as more than worms. And of course there was the fail proof theory that the world would end when the sun died. In a bunch of billion years give or take. Althougth some new scientist were discussing if the end would be on the take side, since when the sun started dying things would go haywire on the entire solar system and we would collide with mercury or maybe mars way before the expanding sun engulfed earth. But I digress… Now, those were the mainstream theories that the everyday Joe, who didn’t know the big secret, worried about. So, if you were to ask me which theory was correct I can tell you that I haven’t seen any little green man, at least not from another planet, and so far the sun is still shining, although it’s been only 9 years since everything went to hell, not the few billions (give or take) the scientist predicted, so that one isn’t ruled out yet. These two aside, I'd say all of them. Hey everyone, this is my first attempt at writing. I have been planning to do it for a really long time, and while this is not the one epic fantasy idea I ever wanted to write, I think it's a good one. The plan is to write an end of the world urban-fantasy series. Think a world like Dresden Files, Alex Verus, Iron druid, where magic is real but exist hidden from society meets the apocalypse. It will be written in first person in the Dresden Files style, no plans for other POV for now. As you probally alredy guessed from my style, english is not my first langague, so while google corrector helps, expect grammar errors, and I'd be gratefull for anyone to point them. I plan to write 2 to 3 chapters a week, 2000-4000 words each. Might change as I get more experience and depends on my free time. Cover image from the colections of getwallpapers.com

In Pursuit of Bark's Finest
On the frontiers of transhumanity’s expansion into the galaxy thousands of light years from the light of Sol, things can get rather chaotic. There are countless millions of nascent interstellar nations securing their interests, pirate ships prospering off plunder and deniable mercenary work, dissidents setting up their own civilizations, and other groups all trying to push an agenda. When these groups crash into each other, the results can become extremely messy and convoluted. Recently, a frontier nation calling itself the Red Star Union has found itself at the focal point of one such complication. A freighter under their protection has been sabotaged, hijacked in interstellar space, and robbed of its cargo. This would be bad enough even if all it were carrying was luxury goods, but the freighter Nebula Plow was carrying more than just normal trade goods. Indeed, her cargo of Non-Orientable Wormholes for use in starship power plants was both very expensive and very, very dangerous. Now the Red Star Union has to worry about a pirate crew running around with several extra devices capable of converting matter into antimatter with negligible energy cost. With those, the pirates could be capable of inflicting untold damage if allowed to leverage their ill-gotten gains into a stronger position, a possibility the Union finds completely intolerable. Unfortunately, all that the Red Star Union has to go on for evidence is two names; that of the captain, and that of the ship. The Captain is going by the possible pseudonym of Fuller, while the ship is named Bark’s Finest. And thus the orders came down to the Union’s Bureau of Starforce Intelligence: find more information on these pirates, conclusively identify them, and figure out where exactly they’ve gone to ground so that the fleet can crush them before they get established. Of the many agents that the bureau assigned to this mission, one would happen to play an important role: Field Agent Madeline Zargosty. This is her story. This story is entirely pre-written, and will have one chapter released per week. If you want to read it all ahead of schedule and get access to some premium-exclusive bonus content, the entire book is available for purchase; links to the appropriate storefront pages will be posted at the end of each chapter. This story is also being posted to Scribblehub.
