《Risky Sailing》Chapter nine: Aftermath.

Gabe didn't worry about Colin, he was a life Channeler after all, one of the celestial elements. and as a Life Chaneler he would naturally poses good Innate healing. The over Cautious servant would be back up in no time. But until then Gabe would need to carry him. As he spread ointment on both of their charred bodies he was surprised by just how much more damage Colin had taken in the blow than himself. They had both used protection moves on each other in that finale second, and braced themselves behind trees, yet Colin took a lot more damage, he was bleeding from everywhere, and likely had several broken bones. But Gabe was only half as hurt, with just a cracked rib or Two and full body burns, it hurt like hell and he could barely move without groaning, but it wasn’t nearly as bad… Was it luck? Or maybe his beast traits… he did have three endurance beast gifts from his breakthrough, and Three strength traits, was he really tougher than Colin? Six beast traits was nothing to scoff at, but could it really make him jump a whole realm in power? what Gabe did not Know at that time was that those three weak endurance traits he saw as nothing much on their own were in fact a trait set. As they all came from undead zombies, and were all the exact same trait. They combined into a much more powerful endurance boost then any other low level or even mid level beat could give. But trait sets were a mystery that not even the wisest sages on primeway were aware of. Only the spirit giving dragon, the oldest being in the world had heard of such a thing.
When he finished treating what he could of his and Colin’s wounds, Gabe also noticed something else. The surrounding area was mostly charred black stumps and soot now, with ash slowly raining down from the sky, only three Powerful tree spirits were still intact in the blast radius and all the other trees still standing were clearly dead. These remaining Tree spirits were Trees with the Blood and life of a beast. Some trees like this could become extremely powerful, but it often took them even longer then normal beasts, much longer in fact. To the point where any tree that cultivated above the champion realm was a rare treasure. Most were valued only for their wood and cut down long before they could mature, the wood of a spirit tree being many times harder then normal wood, but some rare Tree spirits grew Ancient Treasure fruits. These fruits came with various gifts, but all were Highly sought after as it usually took thousands of years to grow just a single one. Gabe wasn’t paying any mind to these uncommon trees however, he was looking at a blood colored leaf under the ash a long distance away that was completely untouched. And what was weird was he couldn't sense anything from it. He put the Jar of Healing Salve he was finished with in his Pouch and walked over to the red leaf. There was a little pile of ash on it and as he dusted it off he found that a whole plant had survived, unharmed in the least. The plant was small only about a foot high and had red stems to match it's red leaves, it looked and felt just like an average worthless plant but only a fool would think a normal plant could survive such an explosion. Anything that could survive the blast of a Gold fairy dust grenade had to be strong and strength meant value. He quickly dug it up and shoved its root and all into his pouch. He was about to go back to the prone the laying Colin of the ground when he had another thought. If this one plant had been here maybe there were more in the blast zone he could find. He started walking the circle blast radius, heading further into the center where a crater marred the land. He soon spotted another plant that had survived the Blast, directly in the center of the crater… his jaw dropped in confusion. This plant was not only untouched like the last, but its roots were still planted. It was almost as if it had just sprouted up a second ago, fore how else could it have stayed planted when a crater was made and all the dirt was blasted away… whatever this mystery was Gabe could smell the value of this plant. It was completely red, even its roots, and had no presence. Gabe got the feeling that even a master Channeler would not be able to sense anything from it. He also got the feeling that these plants had not been here before the explosion. They had come here after it somehow. It must have something to do with the gold fairy dust he’d used to make it… he quickly fond another red plant after searching diligently and then another. All of them were the same red type herb. Gabe had almost no knowledge of alchemy, but it didn't take much effort to dig these plants up. If they were valuable he would have to ask a master alchemist, and then maybe they would help pay for some of his loss when he used up the last of his Gold Fairy dust, which had been sad to use for such a basic explosion rune. He quickly collected six of the odd surviving plants, most only a few yards from where the grenade went off hiding under the ash in the crater. It was a wounder what could survive such an explosion as a gold fairy dust bomb. Before long though his search was interrupted by three Channelers flying into the sky above. Gabe looked up and a bit of both fear and hope entered his heart. These three Channelers were all at Elder Realm cultivation the Sixth realm of power, and one was riding on the back of a Death sparrow. Riding on a soul beast was not something anyone with a flying Creature could do. Your soul beast and their attacks would go straight through you if you tried to touch it when it was summoned. Only those who unlocked the Pacific trait to do so could ride their beast. And it was considered a rare and very Valuable ability as beasts could often fly much faster then humans of the same cultivation level. Humans gained flight the moment they passed the Elder realm of power. It was defined as the midway point of a Channeler's life as the elder realm was the middle of the ten realms of power. Which were embryo, tyke, apprentice, champion, master, elder, ancestor, totem, avatar, and the most powerful of them all Deity.

The three Channelers flew down when the sensed Gabe and landed in front of him with their arms crossed. The two in the back were muscular women with scornful expressions and power exerting from them in waves. The one in the front who led them was a short and balding man who looked at Gabe like he was a bug. "What happened here?" He demanded. Gabe shrugged. "I don't know, me and my servant were near by. When we heard shouting, and what sounded like a battle. Then everything exploded." Gabe did his best to sound desperate, making his voice Crack and his shoulders slump. He didn't want them to know that he had been involved with the explosion because then they would ask him how he did it and that would open a big can of problems he didn't need right now. He already looked the part, covered from head to toe in ash and burns and only wearing some torn clothes as it was all he had left after his garments being burned. "Please help him, I think his arm is broken. I was going to... going to ask someone from the city to help." To these people he was just a weak helpless Teenager and that was all he wanted to be right now. "Ha!" The red headed woman to the left scoffed. "You'd be lucky to find someone in the city who didn't rob you on the spot." She said. The man sighed. "Where is your servant?" Gabe pointed behind him. "Just a little ways back." The balding man looked back to his counterparts. "You two sweep the area, and take a close look at the blast point. Try to find out who did this and why. If you see anyone who might be responsible don't contact them, call me." The women took back up into the air, one riding the crow and the other with her arms out to her sides and a green aura around her. The man looked down on Gabe with curious eyes. "Now son, take me to your friend. And tell me exactly what you heard."
Gabe explained the explosion to the man as they walked and tried to fabricate as little as possible. When they reached Colin the man picked him up in his arms and looked him over. "He's a Life Channeler, he'll be okay." The man said. Gabe smiled slightly at the man. "Good, I don't know what I'd do without him." That part was true. The Man threw Colin over his shoulder like a sack of beans and waved his right hand over the ash covered ground. Instantly two black clouds appeared. "Get on kid." He ordered, and Gabe compiled. The moment he did him and the Man holding Colin rocketed into the air. Flying over fifty yards above the ground. "Where are we going." Gabe asked as they zoomed westward. The man pointed ahead of them. "We're from the city. That explosion was felt by over half the population." Gabe suddenly understood who they were. Every city had Over watchers called City enforcement, Channelers powerful enough to defend the city if need be. He felt relieved, the city enforcement was most often sworn under a code and wouldn't harm anyone without good reason. As they flew at incredible speed the city came into view. It's clear energy Dome stretching over the distance. This Farming city was a relatively small one, only a few dozen square miles as a whole. The energy dome was a shield and would block anyone who tried to teleport in and reroute them to the gates. This was done to protect the city from Evil beasts And corrupt souls. The buildings of the city were a mish mash of several cultures on primeway. from one area to another millions of people of various backrounds were walking in the flat dirt roads. And plenty of Flying Chanelers were busy in the sky transporting goods or patrolling for crime. The enforcement guard flew Gabe and Colin down to one of the hundreds of gates in the city wall, dumped them their like luggage and flew away without a word. Gabe wanted to thank the man but he was already gone by then.

The city gate was just a square hole in the wall with hundreds of runes drawn on edges. These runes would alert the authorities if someone with a corrupt soul, or a powerful Beast tried to enter. The also preformed a scan for contraband items, and well known criminals. Most big cities also checked identity and made sure only those from certain families and bloodlines were admitted, but Farming cities were free for everyone. As a place for the weak and mundane to live, and help the Families that founded the city at the same time as all taxes and fees were paid to them. After waiting behind thirty travelers, who all looked much stronger and more capable then Gabe and Colin, and who ignored then like bugs, they finally made it to the front of the line. Gabe carried Colin through the gate which took thirty seconds to complete its magic and let them through. in the buzzing city no’one was still. Everyone had somewhere to go and some place to be. Many poor looking individuals carried heavy loads with them as they walked the wide streets. Gabe was used to all this movement and quickly fell into the rhythm of the traffic as he lugged Colin with him gently as not to open his wounds back up. He also made sure to stay in very public view, not taking any of the dark ally shortcuts, or turning into any poor scarce looking neighborhoods. After asking a stranger with torn clothes and rugged hair for directions he walked straight to the nearest Inn a few blocks from the gate he entered from a thin shabby door and found a quiet small lobby with wood floors and a quiet almost shy atmosphere. Behind a desk in the middle of the lobby there was a mundane. Mundane humans were those who had no ability to bond with Beasts or so little talent that they would never make it out of the Embryo Realm and it was better to stay mundane and live a regular life. Most were enslaved to one family or the other, or led poor hungry lives. The inn had a thick woody smell and was lit by rune lamps that hung from the wall. The mundane stood up to great him with a kind smile, he was a middle aged Large man with a long beard and callous hands. "Can I help you gentlemen?" He asked. Gabe nodded. "I need a room for me and my friend here." The inn keeper looked at the burnt Colin with a wince. "Sure thing, hope he gets better. You can have the first one off the stairs for just five copper rings.” The money on Primeway was universally accepted as Copper rings, silver rings, and Gold rings. Each piece was an inch sized coin with a circle cut out of the middle like a doughnut. Fifty Copper rings equaled one silver, and fifty Silver equaled one Gold. To get any higher then that, Rich families would trade pure Spirit crystals. Which were worth a thousand gold rings each.
Gabe paid for the room with some of the money him and Colin had saved up in the last city they visited almost a year ago. He carried his servant up to the room and laid him on the bed. Then pulled the only chair up close to him and started to cultivate while Colin healed. They didn’t have the money for a doctor who could help Colin, but Gabe had read a book or two on basic aid. Colin would heal just fine. Though he’d be in even more pain than Gabe was when he woke up. Gabe himself could only focus on cultivating through shear will as waves of burning and stinging were shocking through his system constantly.

Twoen
The struggle for an interesting game has been the story of my life for quite some time. Every game I find is either too easy, not interesting or too short. Luckily, my two brothers who match my level of skill, albeit in different areas, tend to spice things up. When I look at my older brother I have no idea how he gets anything done when he's such an idiot. Still it doesn't detract from my respect for him as a gamer, though maybe a little. When I look at my younger brother I marvel at the monster that my older brother and I created. Deadliness, craftiness and quiet, both in what he does and how he is. When it's just us three we tend to destory everything in our path. So normally we tend to compete rather than team. Although that isn't to say we're just good as individuals. When we work together our effectiveness multiplies rather than lowering. Well enough about us dorks. Anyway a new VR game came out, apparently in development for quite some time. Of course my older brother decided to drive out and buy three copies. What would this one be missing? Difficulty? Depth? Length? In any case I plan to reach the top before my brothers do. It was a competition after all. Twoen had all three things I normally yearn for in spades. Something I did not foresee. A keeper
