《The King of Fighters》Chapter 25

Finishing up with them, Naruto met up with Poison and told them that he would be gone for few days. He had also been training them using his clones with the same training that Laura and others went through.
They needed to become a lot stronger if they he wanted to use them in his goals. With their current strength they would fodder that would get one shotted.
After seeing their progress, Naruto met up with Mary and the others as they were going to travel to a different country.
The base they found was in the Kunlun Mountains in China. There was definitely a base in Japan but it hadn't been located yet and it was lucky they finally found a base.
Since it was in China, it was going to be a big one. They were going to fly to over the waters to China before going by foot to avoid getting spotted.
At the airport they walked to the private plane for this operation and he met someone unexpected, Kyo Kusanagi. He looked different from his videos, meaning he might have gone through changes in between as it had been more than half a year since he disappeared from the spotlight.
"Thank you for coming guys and as you can see, Kyo has decided to join us. He wasn't available so I never mentioned him, but he just returned home last night from his training trip." Mary showed her gratitude to them as she greeted them near the plane.
--------------
Kyo was the heir of the Kusanagi clan, one of the three clans that sealed the legendary snake entity, Orochi, 1,800 years ago. His clan wields pyrokinetic powers, an inherited power that few members obtain. They, along with the Yasakani and Yata clans, keep one of the three sacred treasures used to contain Orochi long ago. His family's treasure was the Kusanagi Sword, and his family crest was the sun, represented in a stylized halo of fire. His official nickname was Scion of the Flame or The Cleansing Exorcising Flame.
Kyo was the over-confident but well meaning friend, more interested in enjoying life than having to partake in any particular responsibilities. He was quick to dismiss subjects that didn't interest him and would often carry out his actions with a devil-may-care attitude. Despite his seemingly arrogant and rude demeanor, he treasured his friends and family, enjoying their presence and particularly doting on his girlfriend, Yuki. His extreme disinterest in studies had led to his chronic inability to graduate from high school (which has become subject to in-jokes). Although he was confident in his poetic talent, most of his poems weren't considered to be good by his listeners.

Kyo took his clan's responsibilities on a more personal level, disregarding ancient legends and predestined events as any reason for his actions. His strong sense of justice and his zeal to fight stronger opponents are what he believed to drive him to carry out his destiny. His rivalry with Iori was one of mutual hatred and was hardly spurred by their clans' history. When Kyo and Iori join forces, it was often begrudgingly and as a last resort solution to the conflict at hand.
But since the KOF tournament he had changed greatly as his father had almost died and his friends had almost died.
His father was crippled now and could barely use Ki because of the experiments that NEST had done on him.
He had seen the wider world for the first time and almost lost many of his fights. They barely won against Terry because he had gone through difficult fights and had no team mates left while his team was fine. Even then they almost lost.
Then against his mind controlled father, they had to fight without killing him. Then finally there was Rugal who almost killed them but lost due to his arrogance.
Going through such harrowing experiences, Kyo decided to take a page out of Akuma's notebook and act a little bit crazy. He focused on training and dropped out of school since he only went there to have fun with the normal kids.
With his father by his side, Kyo utilized his potential completely. He was born with the potential to return to the level of his ancestor but never pushed himself too far as things came easily to him and he no reason.
Unlike fighters like Ryo and Ryu, he was a natural born genius.
In the last six months he had spent in magma, powering up his flames to a higher level and his Ki as well. He had gone deeper into the earth to increase his power as the surface level heat wasn't enough for him.
Within six months he had doubled his power and his flames were three times hotter than before. He could melt metal with a snap.
He was now strong enough to easily take down his rival and he had done just that, he had gone and beat him up before coming here.
It had been a satisfying experience and he had made Iori taste dirt. Plus it ensured that his rival was going to grow stronger to keep up with him.
Just like Kyo, who didn't train to the best of his capabilities, Iori also didn't train to the best of his abilities because of fear of losing control.
-------------
"Hey, how have you guys been doing? I hope you missed my beautiful mug." Kyo greeted them in a chill manner and started with Robert.

"Where have you been? I thought you might have hidden away like a rat after the tournament." Robert hugged him and joked.
"Dude, that's not funny. The tournament was so damn dangerous, I doubt I was the only one affected by it." Kyo punched him playfully as he moved to Ryo.
"You are right. But we were used to such things so it only affected kids like you. Regardless, you did very well and I enjoyed our fight. I hope we can have rematch soon." Ryo's team had been the strongest team Kyo had fought before fighting Terry.
"Let's fight after we finish the mission. I am gonna make you surrender this time." Kyo gave a cocky grin as he moved to King.
"Don't act like a big shot. I didn't even surrender against Geese Howard so that's a big order."
"We will see." Kyo turned to King and shook her hand.
"I see you are doing well, Kyo."
"Yeah, fine and dandy. Just missing the city life these few months, I can't believe Ryu can do this boring life." Kyo answered and his eyes landed on Naruto.
"Everyone is different and Ryu has always lived such a life."
"You are right and it's too difficult for us modern peeps." Kyo muttered as he walked to Naruto and they shook hands.
"I have seen your videos Naruto. I hope we can fight later." Kyo said with a challenging gaze as his fighting spirit was all time high at the moment. He was raring to test his new powers against powerful foes.
"I look forward to it but, are you strong enough for a good fight." Naruto replied as he squeezed his hand and Kyo smiled at his words as he squeezed back.
"I will let you decide." Kyo muttered as his hand was on fire. He knew Naruto had ignored Laura's lighting easily and that was her strongest aspect for the super fights.
Naruto had covered his hand in chakra and he still felt the heat burning him. It was stronger than lava, beyond 5000 degrees Celsius.
"I am looking forward to it." Naruto smiled as he broke his hand.
Kyo felt his bone fracture from the force. His fighting style utilized flames so he wasn't a strong physical strike like Ryu or Terry.
----------
He was the master of the Kusanagi style that focused on flames not on total physical domination. The Kusanagi style of ancient martial arts was the main fighting style of the Kusanagi family. Originally, due to their family's treasure, it had weapon-based origins but it was adapted over the years to focus on utilizing the user's fists for their Pyrokinesis abilities. It remains a legacy amongst the family's members and was traditionally handed down with each passing generation. The exception to this was Shingo, who was taught albeit jokingly by Kyo, and then later by Saisyu.
The style was shared by their family's friend, the former Yasakani clan. Thus, alongside the Yata clan, the most distinct trait for all of their techniques amongst the three clans was their naming being numbered via styles/methods (e.g. 88 Shiki/Method 88, 132 Shiki/Method 132, etc.) that may or may not have extended names (e.g. 182 Shiki vs. 108 Shiki: Yami Barai). "Ge Shiki" (Outer Method) moves tend to be more unique attacks within a specific spectrum, while the "Ura Shiki" (Reverse Method) techniques were normally stronger version of their base versions. In some sources, even the practioners' normal attacks were named as such.
However, after the Yasakani subjected themselves to Orochi's blood and changed their name to the Yagami clan, their styles began to deviate from one another, with the Yagami adding the "Kin Shiki" (Forbidden Method) naming to their arsenal. Likewise, the last member of the Yagami clan, Iori Yagami, used the most amounts of "Reverse Method" techniques within his take on the Yagami-style.
This martial art is very much like traditional Japanese karate style by adding Chinese kung fu in it. Kyo put his own spin on the style by incorporating Kenpo.
The Kusanagi style also harbors a dark side that potentially transforms the practitioner into a mindless berserker, not very different from the Riot of the Blood and Satsui no Hado. Careless practitioners of the Kusanagi bloodline may end up falling to this path if they lose themselves to its darker side but ignoring it also meant that you could never reach the summit. Kyo was looking for ways to handle the transformation as he didn't want to become a monster like Iori or Ryu when they went berserk.
---------
Kyo's flame burned golden and his bone healed itself back to normal.
"Payback for the flames, is it?" Kyo didn't mind as he had started it and he could easily heal up such small injuries.
"Get in the plane already, you can talk inside." Mary pushed them towards the plane as they were having a bromance moment and all of them boarded. With that the plan few towards their destination where they would meet Leona's team.
