Chapter 4
T0 - Pain Resistance (Lvl 12) (Common)
+ Improves ability to resist pain
Solar sat on the ground and stared straight into the wall without blinking. They had given him a bowl of something that looked like a mix of rat-meat and something unknown, but he could hardly care right now.
His mind was a mess. The pain that he had experienced had changed him. He didn't even know there was a pain as terrifying as that. He had cried for hours and had barely got any sleep.
"Should I just kill myself?" The young man was desperate.
"Nooo...I will survive this. I don't know how, but I will." He tried to convince himself; he wasn't going to die like this. The pain had frightened him, but it had also made him tougher.
Minutes turned into hours, and hours turned into days. Solar had grown slightly accustomed to being in the cell. He wanted to become stronger, so he trained everything in his arsenal that would make him be able to survive.
Creeaaak...Creaaaaak...Creaaaak...
The resolve that he had built the last couple of days faltered. His heart began to beat faster and faster. His hands got sweaty, and he had a hard time to breath.
"Focus...Focus..." The breathed out, trying to get his nerves under control. The Fairy and the Elder Ent came like last time.
The door opened, and the Ents entered the room. They spread out and covered the whole space. The Fairy examined the humanoid: his frightening expression and the way he had unconsciously escaped into the corner made her heart quiver. She sent an order to the Ents to capture him slowly.
The blood fairy would savour every moment of his horror. She became excited as they began to move.

Noo..No...Nooo!" Solar became desperate as he didn't know what to do. Just as the Ents were going to corner solar, he leapt forward towards the Fairy.
The Fairy was surprised at the charge, but fluttered her wings and avoided his improvised ambush with ease. He didn't come further as the Elder Ent caught his ankle with its branches. He let out a scream as he was dragged back.
He used everything in his arsenal: he kicked, screamed and tried to burn the branches, but to no avail. The Ent didn't flinch as it's extended limps became burnt.
Solar's heat which wasn't even fire was too was nothing against the Ent, and it didn't take more than seconds before he was in the same X position as last time.
The Fairy landed on the Ents shoulder and giggled before she loaded the trinket with mana and put it on his chest. She had somewhere to go today, so the process had to be quick.
The pain came swiftly this time.
"ARGHHHH!" It was mind-breaking. His pain resistance did almost nothing to alleviate his pain. He tried to use mediation, but he couldn't even start the process before he failed. He searched inwards for help. A memory. Someone. Something to think about to ease the pain.
Halfway through the process, he found something deeply buried in his heart. Rage. Why? Why are they hurting me? What have I done? Fuck this. Fuck them. I kill them. I'll fucking kill them!"
His rage bubbled up inside of him like a raging volcano. It pushed back the fear and erupted, "Fuck you! I'll fucking kill you! You fucking shit!"
The pain continued, but it only boosted his rage as he cursed, screamed and tried to wrestle his way out. It didn't take long before his strength left him as more and more blood was drained from him.

Thud.
The process finally stopped and he dropped to the ground. He couldn't even lift a finger, and the only thing he could do was glare at her with hatred.
The Fairy became provoked; she who was used to being worshipped with fear was met with resistance? The longer she stared at the weak being, the more enraged she became.
"You think I can't break you?" The Fairy snorted and spun around and flew away without even waiting for the Ents, "Filthy weak creature, let's see if you can look at me with those eyes after I'm done with you..."
...
.......
..........
Shrieek.
Shrieeeek.
Shrieeek.
Solar didn't get a lot of sleep as the sound of rats woke him up. He heard scurrying noise as they entered the cell, their claws scraping the rocky floor.
T0 - Blood Rat lvl 6
Broken and corrupted
T0 - Blood Rat 7
Broken and corrupted
T0 - Blood Rat 5
Broken and corrupted
"Broken and currupted, did she send them?Fucking bitch.." Solar's became angry, "Why does that monster want toture me? She can't even let me sleep?"
"3 rats huh..." There was no hesitation as he tried to use his skill points. He really didn't know what so he decided to level up his unarmed combat.
Wish to use skill point on T0 - unarmed combat?
Cost: 1 skill point, Y/N
His skill rose to level 10 and something changed. He felt more in control with his body. He didn't have time to check, and dumped the rest of the skill points in his Body of Rock. His assumption was right: It's level correlated with the amount of endurance and vitality he recieved.
Fighting Insticts (Uncommon) gained!
The Rats lounged upon him. He growled and unleashed a punch towards the first one. He somehow knew the right angle and timing for the punch to be perfect. There was a crunch from breaking bones. The second came from the side, and he elbowed it with enough force so that it flew straight into the wall. The third rat had bit down on his leg, but it only left a superficialwound before he gripped it's neck and crushed it with his bare hands. The other rats yelped as he made he's way to them killed them. He looked at his hands covered in blood and became aware of what had happened. What is going on with me?
"How did I get so strong?" Solar was shocked at his brutality and sudden gain in strenght, and forgot his anger for second, "Do stats and skills really make that much of a difference? What is this uncontrollable anger dwelling inside of me?

But when an object of great and malevolent power promises to make good on all the promises the mages broke to him Mar is thrust into the world of magic. Mar will find that fate had something more than a life confined to the library planned for him after all. Authors Notes: I consider this to be a comming-of-age Sword and Sorcery story based mostly on the style of classic western fantasies. So if that's your thing then I encourage you to take a peek. Something I want to mention though is that the main character starts of pretty wimpy, and that might not be your thing. That being said, if you stick with him he's got a long way to grow. Also, while this version of the story is meant to be fully readable, more dicerning readers may want to wait until I move out of rough draft phase. There may be some inconsistancies with character and plot while I am still in the rough draft phase. I'm sorry for this, but this is my first web novel and from what I've read the best way to get a good novel out is to write write write, and then edit ruthlessly after you're finished with the book, so that's the plan I'm going to follow. Again, this is a rough draft. Everything you are reading is subject to change, including the name, title, and cover photo. This may no longer be the case once I've decided I know where this fiction is going and I have a reasonable understanding of the characters and their behavior. You're reading what comes off my keyboard as it's made, with very limited editing. There will be mistakes in the text. I do a quick spell check to take out the worst of the errors, but there will be some I miss. You can point them out in the comments if they are particularly confusing or glaring and I will try to fix them, however I am not overly concerned about minor errors as this is not the final draft by any means.
