“Biito are you in there?” The girl's voice called out from the hallway. I silently looked over to Byte, who was pale as the blanket of snow spread on the ground outside the dorm. At that moment I knew who was at the door, it had to be Mei. ‘This could not possibly get any worse. I'm here at Bytes dorm, at night, and his still girlfriend is at the door. What is she going to say if she sees us? Another girl is here with her boyfriend, she is definitely going to freak out!’I thought. I started to scramble for a place to hide, but before I could we heard a muffled voice from behind the door.

“I'm coming in” she announced in a casual tone of voice, and before we had time to react, the door was open. There we were, caught red handed.

“Mei, what're you doing here so late?” Byte asked as his eyes darted around the room.

I was right on the money. ‘So this is Mei Suzuki’ I thought to myself. I could see why she was popular, her face was a porcelain tone and her hair was fairly long. Her hair was a deep shade of black and her frame was slender. She was picture perfect. Mei studied us with her eyes for a few moments before replying. “I just wanted to come spend some time with my boyfriend for the night, is that such a weird thing to do? Besides, I should be asking her that very same question” she quipped as she pointed her finger at me.

“It's not what it looks like, I promise, but I do need to speak with you” Byte explained as he looked at Mei.

“Go ahead Biito, spill it” Mei fired back as she looked at the both of us.

“I don't think I comprehend what it means to like someone or be in love with someone yet. It's not that I don't like you, or think you are pretty, or something along those lines, but I dont think I'm ready for a romantic partner yet. I'm really sorry Mei” Byte stated.

I was surprised at how easily the words fell from his mouth, compared how he was just a few minutes prior when he was preparing to call her, he seems to have steeled his resolve, and said exactly how he felt.

“I cannot believe this is happening right now, first I walk in on my boyfriend with some other girl in his room. Then he tells me that he's breaking up with me?” Mei sniffled as tears began to form in her eyes.

“Wait, Erika was just…” Byte began to say before immediately halting.

“Oh my god, you mean this is her, the girl who threw you out of her house?” Mei questioned while wiping her eyes. I could not believe the drama that was happening before my eyes, it was like something from a soap opera that my grandparents would watch. Suddenly Mei fell to her knees and continued quietly crying. Byte acted as if he wanted to go over and console her, but he stopped in his tracks and looked down at the ground, as if he felt the guilt looming over him. I felt bad for her as I watched her cry, and I even began to sympathize with her, but as her quiet sobs ran on they started to change. Before we knew it, an eerie sound was being produced that we recognized wasn't weeping, but laughter. She slowly slithered up from the floor, like a cobra to a snake charmer's flute, and swept aside the long black hair from her eyes, revealing a dark grin.

“Listen here you bitch, I will have my boyfriend, he's mine, he belongs to me” she sneered with her head turned to the side while looking at me. My blood ran cold, it was like she was an entirely different person all of a sudden. Any sympathy I felt for her had been flung out the window.

“And you listen to me my sweet. You will proclaim your love for me around campus for anyone and everyone you run into. And dont think thats all. You are also going to erase every scrap of evidence that you have that you ever lived with, hung out, or even associated with this wench, and you will have till tomorrow to do so. If you dont then...I just suppose I'll have to go to the dean with the information that I've collected here today...and that would just be too bad” Mei giggled as she turned her smile into a frown with her fingers. “I'd hate to have to get my boyfriend and his little ‘ex’ expelled.” Mei then turned on her heel and walked toward the door.

“I'll see you after school tomorrow, my sweet” Mei said as she shut the door slowly. Byte then sat on his bed and hung his head in his hands, most likely thinking the same thing I was. ‘How on earth are we going to get out of this mess?’
