《Storm of the End》Chapter XIII.III: The Sadist

I woke up to see Jared staring out of the window. "Morning," I said after I managed to fully wake myself up.
He responded without looking away from the window, "Morning."
I got up, "Do you see anything out there?"
"Nothing, it's just..." he started to respond, then stopped himself. He seemed hesitant to talk.
"What is it, Jared? You can tell me," I asked, then I realized what must have been bothering him, "Did you have a nightmare?"
He nodded, "It was about my brother. There were dozens of those things tearing him apart outside this window here. I tried to move my body to save him, but I couldn't move my legs. I could only slam my hands against the glass and scream. Then one of them, the one that ran away, it walked over to the window, pressed its face up against the glass and spread its mouth wide. Then I woke up in a cold sweat."
"Jared, if you feel guilty about your brother..."
"I don't. I know there was nothing I could have done to save him back in Arborline. I just miss him, that's all."
"I know exactly how you feel," my voice was choked up, "An hour hasn't gone by where I don't think about what happened to my wife, and about how Aaron must feel."
Then a crash came from upstairs, one that sent a shiver through every cell in my body. For a second, there was silence, and then a low gurgling noise that sounded almost like someone was trying to talk while their throat was full of blood echoed from down the stairs.
Jared wasted no time, he instantly ran to the guns (the shotgun we had got from the old man and his own pistol). He tossed the pistol to me, we both started towards the stairs but stopped dead in our tracks when I heard a sound I hadn't heard since Arborline. The screams echoed down the stairs. I knew immediately what it was, but I couldn't believe it; it was that one that had run away after Jared shot it. Did it follow us all the way here? Was it lurking in the shadows the entire time, just outside of our range of vision? Waiting for the right moment to strike?

Another scream scrambled my thoughts, threatening to tear at my sanity. I heard the creature fumbling around on the top floor, trying to find its way through the house. Jared ran up to the stairs, and I followed after him.
"I'll get that bastard, if it's the last thing I do. I'll make him pay." I heard Jared mumbling. I found myself nodding in agreement. That thing also killed Jessica.
I hesitated for a moment, I didn't want to leave Aaron alone but he would be in even more danger if we brought him up with us. I quickly rushed to wake him up, rushed him into a little cubbyhole in the corner of the room, told him not to leave unless I came back and told him it was safe to come out.
"Will you really... be..." he started, his voice trembling.
I grabbed him by the hand, "Don't worry," I tried to say firmly, but my voice was trembling too.
He squeezed my hand, reluctantly let go, then I closed the door to the cubby and ran back to the stairs.
It took all of my willpower just to get up the stairs. Part of me screamed for me to turn around and run away, but if we ran now, it would find us again. There was only one solution; if we killed that thing, we wouldn't have to worry about it anymore. We'd be safe. Jessica would be avenged.
Full of fighting spirit, Jared and I ran ran through the living room to the stairs that led to the top floor, but stopped and stared at what we saw was waiting for us at the top.

The Abyssal Dungeon
The world of Vol, a huge, bountiful plane where the only constant is life, in its many, many forms. One such form is a dungeon core, a peculiar little gemstone, and the focus of our attention. Watch as this otherwise unremarkable gem awakens in one of the most resplendant places in Vol, an aptly named Mana Reef, and how it turns its simple hole in the ocean floor into something truly unique, all while the rest of the world is forced to deal with its growth. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ This is my first venture into writing for fun, and I'm hoping to keep this running until I run out of juice. With that said, I very much enjoy dungeon core novels, and wanted to do one a bit outside the norm. Hope you enjoy! If you want to come stop by the discord, I know we'd all be more than happy to welcome you! https://discord.gg/pcR5g5XX8h

Chaos Wave
The year is 2055. Virtual Reality has been around for nearly forty years, and the Full Sensation Dive System has been around for about thirty. The various countries of Earth have long since given up on Warring against each other in this dimension when it turned out that with the FSDS (Full Sensation Dive System) virtual worlds became real, especially once Richard Alonzo Albeque's AIQNPC (Artificial Intelligence Quest and Non-Player Character) System was released and spread like a wild virus across all the active MMOs. People vanished from their Dive system, leaving nothing behind of the person they were, and the Characters they were in game become locked out, and no longer responsive to the System. In addition to this, they are suddenly showing up on ALL servers of a game at the same time, almost as if they were now an NPC. The governments put a stop to all distribution of FSDS Technology, and keep an eye on these 'Digitized Players'. Ten years pass and one of the first ever Digitized Players, a Level 500 Catgirl by the name of Atreya the Dawnbirth, created a stable portal between their MMO and Earth. With the return of one of the players, the governments remove the bans on FSDS Technology, which has still been researched heavily while under the ban. Wars break out over control of Virtual Worlds, but these wars are all fought ON the Virtual World, so the Earth isn't polluted further. Immortality is now available to all who seek it, if you can find a World to call your own. Of course, nobody paid attention to one of the few warnings Atreya brought back with her... The NPCs sometimes became sentient and disobeyed coding laws.

Wizards of the Otherworldly Court: End of the Five, Twenty-three, and Twenty-nine Years Story
Alternate titles: - Five, Twenty-Three, Twenty-Nine Years - 5, 23, 29 "Dad? I think I got a really bad fever, why do I still feel fine?" "It feels cold..." Five years ago, Owen became a Court Wizard in search of his father who was lost to the unknown three years prior. But that wasn't the beginning of the story. Maybe it began twenty-three years ago when Ronald Bell and Joshua Ruze saved the Illyer family. Or perhaps, it all started twenty-nine years ago, when Ronald, the son of the wealthiest merchant, became a Court Wizard. Well, it doesn't matter anymore, for the story five, twenty-three, and twenty-nine years ago shall now meet its end. 2nd book written in the Wizards of the Otherworldly series. Read Wizards of the Otherworldly Court: Alicia first. This story is split into two 'Collections,' Ronald's Collection and Owen's Collection, each centering around those Court Wizards. Crossposted with WordPress site, Wattpad, Sufficient Velocity, and Rainobu. Wizards of the Otherworldly Court is a fantasy story about the Otherworldly Court, an inter-dimensional (or world-hopping, you get the idea) organization made up of people of all ages, gender, and race from many parallel or different worlds. They are granted elemental-like magic powers and called themselves 'Court Wizards'. They are tasked to watch over the many worlds they come across and step into these worlds on 'missions' to preserve the balance, life, order, anything to make said worlds better places in the shadows but may reveal themselves if necessary. However, these missions may partially or even fully oppose their nature, personal interests, and ideals. Yet, most of the Court Wizards are aware and willing to complete even the worst missions that would shatter their true selves that they will never cast aside regardless, either growing or regressing because of it. Basically, it's isekai to multiple worlds but each book after Wizards of the Otherworldly Court: Alicia focuses primarily on one world while also discussing its lore in detail. Book Alicia is the introduction containing the essential worldbuilding of the Otherworldly Court universe you need to know while shoving in as many characters and worlds as I can. Also, each book will have a different main character, sometimes more than one in a single book, like Jojo.
