《The Infinite Item box IS the best thing someone can have on an adventure》Chapter 46 - Dragon Duel

Jörmungandr slithered up to Nicko and opened its mouth. He moved out of the way and punched the serpent in the snout, stunning it for a while. Nicko made a cross out of his arms, as they began to be covered with scales, making that his arms were weapons.
He sharpened the blades before diving onto Jörmungandr and stabbed in between it’s eyes. The snake screamed, making Nicko lose balance and collide with a house which was perched on top of the world trees root.
He wiped off some blood from his nose, as his skin around his mouth began to change. Scales appeared, taking shape around his lips, cheeks and down to his nape. His lips shriveled, revealing a plethora of teeth, much more than a [Humans].
Nicko’s fiery aura turned orange, now surrounding his whole body. His muscles began to bulge, his eyes turned a bright orange, while his pupils became like lizards. A new [Skill] that Nicko had ever used, subconsciously activated, [Dragon Rage].
Unlike its predecessor [Draconic Rage], there was no limit, and a cooldown that lasts days. It can only be subconsciously activated when facing a strong opponent, and that was what Nicko was facing.
Nicko took a deep breath, positioning his back, and casted a [Spell] which he never used before.
“[Baby Dragon Magic: Cinder affinity: Burning Dragons Ball]!” Nicko breathed out a ball of flame which grew to be twice the size of the house, standing there.
Nicko jumped towards the burning ball and punched it, sending it flying towards Jörmungandr. Nicko’s body adapted due to [Dragon Rage], making him able to breath flames without damaging his body, adapting to the [Magic].
The snake took the hit, asking Nicko if that was all he had. What Jörmungandr didn’t know was that Nicko was in the air. The [Dragon-Kin] kept silent, heating up his blades as he was diving down towards his enemy. Jörmungandr didn’t notice until Nicko made contact, with a massive cross that was larger than Nicko’s body.
“[Baby Dragon Magic: Confer Affinity: Blade Art: Broadsword: Executioners Cross]!!” Nicko yelled, as he created a massive gash and burn mark shaped like an X.
Jörmungandr looked up, slithering his way up and eating Nicko. The [Dragon-Kin] was still alive, but was about to lose consciousness. Jörmungandr dived back down and headbutted a massive tree that laid in the middle of Jörmun.
The force would’ve killed almost anyone else at the state they were in, but Nicko survived. Jörmungandr spit Nicko out, chuckling at the [Dragon-Kins] almost lifeless body.

“I will let you go now Nicko, but you shall return, as I hope that you can last at least ten times the force of what I can muster,” Jörmungandr opened its mouth and licked Nicko, his wounds healed instantly. Jörmungandr’s burn marks were also gone, seeming that the [Dragon] was just toying around, not actually trying to fight.
Nicko woke up, seeing the tail of his enemy sink into the ground. No one was around him, but what he did notice was that the gates to the castle were open. He quickly got up and ran towards the battlefield himself.
No one knew the layout of the castle, as the guards of the royal family used [Magic] to change the rooms around so that no one could memorize it. But when Beezlebub began to command Grandage at its thorn, he kept the layout the same, instead adding something else.
Harrian led the charge, seeing more enemies blocking his path. Gripping his scythe even harder, Harrian slashed three [Demihumans] at once. It was then that the cleaved enemies began to bloat and then explode in a matter of moments.
The praying mantis that was following Harrian saw it at the last second and protected himself. He went over to Harrian and noticed that he was fine, but still, the praying mantis asked anyway.
“Ooo oo o aaa ii?” It asked.
“I’m ok, and are you developing vocal cords?”
“Yyyyyy eeeee,”
“Very simple words, it’ll develop, but I have to report?”
Harrian pressed his finger against his right temple and told [Beetle] about the self destructing insects, which he then yelled out to the rest of the revolution. They all listened and made sure to apprehend them instead, getting more cautious about the fight.
The freedom fighters had grown in numbers, with Harrians spores plaguing the battlefield, more and more of Beelzebubs troops were joining the opposing side. Everyone advanced into the castle, until they finally reached the main hall.
There three people were at the other side of the room, Beelzebub and Ligo, with some armour. The other one was the queen of Grandage before Beelzebub, Titania, the [Elf] who gave Ligo his tattoo. The army entered the main hall, the [Heroes Party] in the front, as they looked to the sides and saw horror.
People were moulded into the world tree, parts of them were sticking out, but it was horrifying. The walls and ceiling filled with them, constantly screaming in pain, their eyes rolled back, and looked like they hadn't eaten in weeks.

“Such a sight isn’t it, I mean, [Chaos Row] did all of the heavy lifting but still,” Beelzebub got up from his throne and twirled his forked spear.
Everyone saw what the spear was now, it didn’t look like Harrians weapon, not in the slightest. On the tips of the spears there seemed to be a spiral pattern that went all the way down to the end. The spirals were raised from the rest of the spear, and seemed to change form by Beelzebubs control.
Ligo began to walk forward, with his new black armor which cloaked his entire being.
“Hello everyone so great to see you again!! Harrian, Nicko, Atogin, Enar, who’s that beside you, I believe we haven’t met,”
“Allanae, that’s all you have to know,” She twirled her spear.
“So you replaced your [Elf] friend after what, a handful of weeks?”
“Quite Ligo,” Nicko clenched his fists.
“It’s Svartal now, I am now apart of the nine Yggdrasil guards,”
“Of course Beelzebub gave you that title, after all, you released him didn’t you?” Harrian said in a threatening tone.
Ligo nodded. “Oh my god, did Cordelie survive, how is she?”
“Not good thanks to you, but will be better after what I do to you,”
“Please Harrian, after becoming a Yggdrasil guard, my power has grown like yours, it will still be a fair-” Ligo didn’t finish his sentence.
Harrian had blown up the floor with [Chaos Column] propelling himself into the air. He took off his tophat, which revealed what seemed to be a forest from a very high point. Harrian fell towards Ligo, the [Dark elf], getting his crossbow, but it was to late.
His arm went through the tophat, as it sucked up the rest of him. Ligo was gone from the throne room, as he was seen through the small picture in Harrians tophat, as that also disappeared. Harrian placed his hat on his head, Beezlebub chuckling.
“So it begins, one of the most powerful [Skills] in this world, the [Infinite Item Box] makes its appearance again,” Beelzebub said, finally getting up.
“You know my hat?”
“And you weapon, although it’s been a while, I don’t know how long it was, but what I do know is that I want to help,”
“With what?”
“With the world of course, I know what you are Harrian, ‘The Creator’ sent many souls here, and for a failsafe, but restrictions on beings like me,”
“The stronger the [Players] get, the more powerful you become,”
“Exactly Harrian, and everyone else, I mean, not my armies, anyone who came from your world a short while ago,”
“We know you’re powerful Beelzebub, but can you handle an army?”
“No, I cannot, but,” Beelzebub opened his right hand, facing forward, causing a massive blast that knocked almost everyone back, everyone other than the [Heroes Party] and Allanae.
Beelzebub clicked his fingers, as all of the people on the walls were finally being absorbed into the tree completely. His veins began to pop, showing weakness, which everyone used to move forward to Harrian.
They waited for Beelzebub to do something, but the only thing that happened was a crack from behind him. The crack then spread towards the top and bottom of his spine, dropping [Chaos Row], Allanae not daring to get it.
Beelzebub then landed on his knees, showing everyone that he wasn’t crumbling, but instead shedding. A laugh came from the body of Beelzebub, as he began to come out of his skin, with an entirely new look.
His skin had become scaly and yellow, with nails that were sharpened. His shoulders were wider, as two larger wings had come from his back, still airing out, slowly growing. He opened his eyes, revealing slits and yellow iris, blinking like a bird. Opening his mouth, his teeth were jagged, and on his head, there were two antenna.
Beelzebub picked up [Chaos Row] and opened his other hand, making a gesture to come get him. Atogin and Allanae nodded, running towards him. Atogin’s legs began to glow green, as he got faster until he faced Beelzebub, Atogin kicked Beelzebub through the roof, jumping through the hole, Allanae flying through it.
Enar plunged her sword into the ground, closing her eyes and muttering words under her breath. Harrian and Nicko were on edge, but were ready for anything that was to come.

The Ingress Estate
Jonathon Eucole. Soldier. Scholar. Now an Initiate, the dedication without dedication, he finds himself both prisoner and master of an arcane edifice, the Ingress Estate, which can neither be escaped, nor controlled; only diverted, maintained, and pacified. This is a gothic fantasy story, set in a world in which gods and the afterlife are not only real and known, but were both established in living memory of some of the inhabitants after millennia of arcane warfare with the being who constructed the mundane reality the humans occupy. But this isn't the story of those who colonized the afterlife at the cost of their own humanity, but a somewhat more ordinary man, in somewhat extraordinary circumstances. This is also a LitRPG-lite, which means there's a system of sorts, fragments of which can be observed through Jonathon's eyes. Don't expect level-up screens, or statistics, or indeed numbers much at all, beyond those the inhabitants of the world itself apply to understanding their own reality. It pretty much doesn't matter to the story, I mention it so those who don't want to read LitRPG at all can successfully avoid it here. I don't have any particular plan here, just some ideas inherent in the genre. This is a character concept I toyed with some years ago; an old man, bright of mind but weighed down into apathy, both by his past and his responsibilities for a terrible estate that cannot be left without stewardship. Don't expect any kind of overarching plot or story, because that's really not what this is about. Also don't expect much dialogue. Or character development. Or much of anything, really, because I've planned nothing in the way of an actual book, here. Other relevant information, if you've read this far for some reason: The MC isn't super-powerful to begin with, and probably never will be. He's a veteran with some useful skills, and the insight on how to use them, so can deal with the world's ordinary threats reasonably well, but not too much beyond that. --- Currently on hiatus, as currently the story has a rather poor ratio of effort-to-personal-payoff. I may return to this once I have a clear idea of how to get the stories where I want them. I've started a more standard LitRPG using the same system. But if you like intelligence characters who cleverly min-max their classes, it probably isn't the story for you; it's the story of a rather ordinary guy who winds up in a very similar universe.
