《Sun Collector》Chapter #30 A Grand Adventure

I got back and passed out in my bed. Lately, it seemed like my days had consisted fo eating and sleeping and that was all.
But I knew I had made some major accomplishments.
If the looter squad went well then they would be a great source of strength for the base.
And grand elder probably couldn't die as long as he didn't run into a mutated heart beast or a thousand-year-old.
I decided that I would wake up early and watch elder's entire trip out into the forest.
I put on the glasses and readied myself.
The scenery around me was that of the walls of the outpost.
I had tuned in at the perfect time he was just about to start his adventure.
I could see the clearing stretching out from the walls. It blended into the forest so beautifully. If one didn't know there were vicious beasts in the forest it would almost seem magical.
I saw the sky for a second and then running feet I had left the outpost and was sprinting towards the forest.
The game was afoot.
The scenery seemed to blur as the speed increased.
Elder was fast already just on sheer strength without ability rings.
Today he ventured into the opposite direction of the sand bar.
There was nothing out of the ordinary about this area but I could tell that he was being more cautious.
There was a fruit tree up ahead with a single moon-shaped fruit hanging down from it.
Not only did grand elder not try to pick it he actively avoided the area.
Apparently, he already had a destination in mind.
He did however pick berries that grew in the forest in bushes.
He continued along in a straight line until he reached a mountain that looked like it went almost straight up.

Apparently, he had been this way before because he was quickly able to find a goat trail that leads up.
I was surprised at how fast he could move he simply seemed to fly up the mountain.
I guess it was all the years of looting in the forest that made him so fast.
As he neared the top the environment seemed too change. The air that came out of his mouth started to form into clouds and the ground was blanketed in white.
Up ahead looked like a path of large white bison.
My entertainment abruptly stopped as elder seemed to have seen something and quickly hid himself watching the bison.
He waited there for what seemed like thirty minutes until a creature that walked on two legs twice the size of a man with a jet black horn rushed out. It tore its way into one of the bison.
The rest of the heard tried to help out but it was already too late.
Elder still waited, he waited until the yeti had feasted, and then he cautiously approached the half eaten carcass. With nobody around, he put the whole thing into his bag and ran back down the mountain.
That must be the limit to how much his bag could carry because he didn't pick up anything else on the way back.
I took off the glasses, it looked like I would be eating bison for a while.
I went to pick up my meal it was a hundred-year food that increased regen.
With food and sitting in the sunlight all day I could average about 80 mana.
But I didn't want to stunt my growth like that so I went to practice fighting again.
Using knives was like a blade dance I thought to myself.
"Now remember when fighting me only focus on defending."

That's what my drill instructor had told me while I stood there trying to dodge his strikes.
I couldn't dodge a single one even though my body was significantly faster than his.
"When using knives you have to learn to divert your enemy's momentum or you will never be a good fighter. Unless you're a genius who can develop his own way of fighting. But you clearly are not."
He didn't have to rub it in. It was already annoying enough that I couldn't dodge a single strike.
"Aren't there other ways to use kunai?" I asked hoping for something more fun.
"There are a variety of ways to use them but unless you can block you'll just end up dead."
That was true enough I guess.
The practice session ended with me being unable to dodge a single blow.
I went home in defeat.
As I walked through my door there was a note there.
Dear sun collector
The rings that you gave us work super well. We haven't been caught while under the stealth buff yet. The danger alert ring always warns us while we retreat under stealth. We were able to gather twice the amount of resources we normally do on our own. We even ran into a very powerful heartbeast but we were able to retreat safely. I am very thankful to you. After having seen the results of our first expedition my team is solidified.
Thank You
