《The Putrid Assassin (Complete)》Chapter #15

I bid her goodbye and walked back to my room. On the way back I thought about all the stuff I would need to complete my journey. Maybe I should make a move on noona while we were on that trip. But if I was trying to seduce her and her hood came off and I saw all those scenes of death I don't know if I would be able to keep a straight face. Then she may never talk to me again or help me.
I got to my room and fell asleep for the night. The rest of my guard duty for the week went by uneventfully with no demonic beasts coming from the forest. Only regular ones such as wolves and wild boars. But they were no match for me and were quickly dispatched.
It seemed like noona was getting more distant the closer we got to our trip.
Whenever I would try and talk to her she would give me one-word responses and wouldn't look in my direction.
It was the day before we were about to venture into the forest I sat at my guard post bored out of my mind. When suddenly I heard a noise coming from the forest.
Out charged a demon boar it seemed to be wounded. In a frenzied rage it charged me I fired two crossbow bolts one missed but the other lodged in its side. It didn't even falter for a second and kept on with its charge.
I sidestepped and slashed down its side, but in an abnormal movement, it spun its head to my side and stuck its tusk into my arm. I had dealt a lethal blow to it but a cornered beast was the most dangerous and my sword arm had a pretty bad gnash so I sprinted toward were noona was. And I used the gravestones to dodge the beasts charge.

I saw her before she saw me and she was sitting on top of a tall tombstone with her chin in her hand.
I yelled "noona I could use a little help over here"
She saw me and kicked off her tombstone and in a giant leap flew over my head and sunk her emerald dagger deep into the boar's head.
Wasn't she powerfully enough to guard the whole graveyard by herself I thought to myself? Then I came to the conclusion that my post was just to serve as bait and an alarm.
I slumped down on a tombstone and spoke " who knew you could fly through the air so far with just a single kick" she turned around and when she did her hood fell off and revealed her face. It looked like it had been sculpted from a combination of all the beauty in the world. My eyes slowly rose from her slender neckline to her eyes. And the image of an old man with half his face eroded from poison was displayed in my mind. It was so horrendous it made me look away from that face. And in the instant my eyes started to move I saw great sadness in hers.
"Noona you just look so beautiful it seemed like it would be a crime to gaze on your face any longer."
"Dax if you ever get in danger like that don't even fight the creature just run to where I am"
"Do you care about me that much noona" I asked
She walked towards me glancing at my bleeding arm.
"I would care more about you if you threw off your childish innocence and held my gaze"
I didn't expect that answer. She reached out and grabbed my arm and wrapped it with a bandage.
I reached out and held her cheek as I tilted her head slightly upward.
" give me time and I'll be able to do it" I said as I looked into her slightly dilated pupil.
I tested to see if I only looked into one of her eyes if the scenes of despair and death would still be visible. And they were so apparently that cheat didn't work.

Human in a Demon's Hide
I had recently enrolled in the military as a lowly footsoldier. Oh, before you could proceed any further, let me tell you about myself. I ain’t some patriotic soldier that’ll lay down my life for the sake of my country. Hell no! That shit is for the people with loose screws! I had only a few goals when I joined the army: March into battle, kick ass, and earn me some cash! Achieving glory on the way wouldn’t hurt. I just need the money to feed my little brother and sister. Their world is all I want to protect. The glory is for washing clean the stains that my father left on the family name. We became such a joke in the country that our mother abandoned us. I don’t know if he really did betray the country, but I don’t care. For my little siblings to suffer the same mockery and humiliation that I did is unacceptable! To protect the smiles of my only family, I would do anything. Yet, life knows to shit on you when things are just getting good. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Hello, author-san here! This is my first story, set up in a fantasy world. It's based on the medieval and steam era where magic is rare and alchemy is used widely used as a weapon by people. There would be lots of action, adventure, betrayal, tragedy, romance, etc. ahead. Warnings-The mc is a bit mean and foul-mouthed, introvert. There would be strong language and lots of monologue narration by the MC. The stories are fast-paced and progressing faster. The chapters update would be unstable, depending on my daily life. You would get fast updates... or slow. Also, English isn't my first language. So don't expect perfect grammar :( P.S. - I would like some constructive critique and feedback! It fills my motivation gauge and increases that rate of chapter/week. (/>3

Cinder Roots (Undergoing a Rewrite)
This novel is currently undergoing a major rewrite, as I noticed several plot points that needed to be revamped. I'll leave the chapters I've posted here to anyone curious to see how everything started, but I'll be posting the rewritten story as a new novel in the future. The characters will be the same, but the journey will be more understandable and hopefully, a lot more fun to read. -------- First, everything was fire, it killed, it consumed, and it gave him life. He was just a tree, born in the biggest forest that remained in the world, full of dryads, naiads, elves and treants, but he was alone. He couldn’t see. He couldn’t talk. Curiosity plagued him. He dreamed of wandering the land, but could only wonder what stood outside the reach of his roots. The tree was tired of waiting. He decided to not just dream, but to act. How could he survive against a invading empire, a grand conspiracy that threatened to shake the foundations of the world, and the raw danger that lies within these woods? With pure determination. Warning - There are quite a few POV changes in the first chapters, but that'll change after the introduction is done, as I'll be focusing on the MC perspective only.

When he takes the time out to persue her, he discovers something unexpected and it's far from disappointing. The two cross paths in the most convinient way, how does their relationship go from being strictly work to strictly personal? Neither of them can say, but I can say it's a pretty interesting story.
