《The Putrid Assassin (Complete)》Chapter #19

Another volley came flying through the air. This time I swept out and swung with my hand effectively blowing away the arrows. We closed in on the wall and with a short leap and we flew over it. As I was in the air I look down and saw hundreds of pebble-like eyes looking up at me. She said that this was a village. But it seems more like a small town. I saw them pull back their bows again. and with the swing of my foot, I knocked everyone off the wall.
" dax watch out things aren't as simple as they look,” lexie said
I heard a voice almost like a whisper yell charge and to my astonishment, a horde of foot high soldiers ran out my legs. They were divided into two companies. One unit had grappling hooks and the other was equipped with spears. I swiped at them with my sword cleaving the lives of hundreds of midgets. A few grappling hooks were thrown onto my shoulder. But I tore them off and sent the midgets flying along with the hook. We got away from the wall so he wouldn't have to deal with the fire from the archers. I'd already been fighting you for quite some time and head a few dozen toothpick arrows lodged in various parts of my body. By this time we were in the middle of the village as we fought our way through, I saw women and children staring out of the tiny houses at us it felt odd. The thoughts they must have had when they watched us defeat there and fathers and sons.
“we're almost there Dax don't give up now” Lexi yelled
I saw her begin to Sprint and I followed. I could see the pass up ahead. We begin to enter the pass and suddenly from the cliffs above us tiny men started jumping off and landing on us. Strapped on them were explosives that would detonate. What the hell is this I thought to myself? They want to protect this place way too much. A few explosions went off but my armor stopped most of it but one managed to crawl under my armpit and blow a good hole in me. I felt like a lion being killed by hundreds of ants. We finally charged through and made it out the other side. It was a lush forest with plants growing so densely you couldn't take five steps.

“did we make it” I asked Lexie
“yeah, we made it the poison vine should be here. Are you sure you're okay?” she said if she stared at my armpit
“I should be fine as long as it's bandaged.” I said
“okay we can rest here for a while,” she said as she stared at the blood dripping down my arm.
She set up the tent and said “We should adventure in the forest tomorrow that's where your poison vine should be”
“Are there going to be any more dangerous us?” I asked
“No from here there's not a single living creature” she responded
“so it's just the two of us,” I said
“he's only been just the two of us” she responded
“I want to stay by your side dax” she said in a tone of voice that was heavy with emotion.
“well I can't guarantee that I'll come back alive I'm going to kill those Nobles. So for now we're going to have to put any dreams on hold.”
I said.
“Well, what if I refuse to help you anymore. And we get stuck in this land alone forever?” she replied
“If you do that I'll find whatever Vine looks like the poison vine and fight my way out of here,” I said
“you're not capable of it you'll die the path is treacherous and you don't know the beasts movement patterns." She said
"You never know I've gotten lucky before," I said as I stared off into the distance
Quicker than I could react she threw herself against my chest and spoke
" you would rather kill yourself than stay here with me?'

I Don't Seem So Bright in a Well-Lit Room
The universe is a very strange place. It will take even stranger heroes to save it."Absurd. Existential. Ridiculous. Tragic. Comic. The antiheroes of "I Don't Seem So Bright in a Well-Lit Room" are a kind of Rosencrantz and Guildenstern with space packs, inadvertently colliding with their destinies against a starry background of witty wordplay. With a vision as sprawling and limitless as the loveably goofy universe in which it's set, Browning's wit, wisdom and heart are always at play, combining to form a wonderfully panoramic and very silly heroes' journey that visits every trope of its overlapping genres and draws moustaches on all of them."- Marcel St. Pierre, author of "Vengeful Hank" and "Cliché and Wind Go Hitchhiking".(Sci-fi /Dark Humour/Absurd) *Completed!
