《Democracy in Cultivation World》32 - Blood Debt

"Do you want to be my disciple boy."
"What!"
"What!"
Both Majid and Fanli were stunned, actually, everyone looked at Guoro in shock. The latter didn't seem to care. It wasn't some random nonsense, he contemplated carefully before he came up to this decision. The boy's cultivation was ruined indeed, he can't achieve much in this path, but cultivation wasn't the only way one can take. With his intelligence, maybe he can follow a scholarly job, there a lot of decent ones that didn't have high cultivation requirements. The headmaster was a good example of this, he didn't have much talent but that didn't stop him from making a name for himself. Even his cultivation was carried along the way, with the resources he provided for himself.
"Guoro, what do you mean by this," Fanli shot him a spiteful stare, "are you adamant on opposing me today."
"What do you mean by that Fanli," Guoro gave him a furious stare of his own unfazed, "were you gonna ignore me and pursue the matter behind my back."
"I mean why would you take this crippled animal as a disciple for, if not to oppose me," Fanli heaved his chest angerly.
"As a member of the divine hammer yourself, you know better than anyone that talent for cultivation isn't everything-"
"Cultivation is not everything, but nothing big can be done without cultivation!" said Fanli, shouting impatiently.
"We will see about that, besides you have chosen quite a number for yourself, what gives the right to butt in my business," Fanli interpreted him in disrespect, so he wasn't gonna waste any more breath on him anymore, "Boy follow me, let's talk privately for a moment," Majid looked at Fanli with a smirk before he followed after Guoro.
They walked outside, away from the gathering, Majid could hear Fanli roaring, "if any of you leaked what happened today, you would have to deal with me, do you understand!"
Majid couldn't help but chuckle, I'm gonna leak it what are you gonna do about it. He came to his senses as he felt Master Guoro's attention was on him.
"Boy, while our job is to recruit top talents for the royal sect, and supervise the school. We have a small faction of our own here, it grants you an inner disciple status in the school like those chosen by the sects. Among other privileges, you would be protected on the school grounds and even on the city to some extent."
The Head Master was indignant to see a lot of good talent rotting as they escaped the sects' radar because of their humble origins. He made a branch of his own, without the royal sect financial support to groom these talents. They were able to raise many disciples to the royal sect's standards, at the end of the 3 years period until graduation. The royal sect recognized their work, it started to support this program so it becomes an official arrangement. Though the disciples' status was lower than even the outer disciple of the royal sect, it was still better than being a rogue cultivator. Other than the royal sect and the great clans' disciples, these graduates were the first choice to work under the City Lords. Many school Headmasters of different cities followed his example,
Only the great talents or the hard-working disciples became core disciples and get the HeadMaster full support. Otherwise, the inner disciples of their faction while better than outer disciples students, their resources are lower compared to those supported by the sects.

"What do you think, while the other sects could offer more benefits, even if you make it past, once they know of your condition, no one knows how they would react. But one thing is for sure, you would be expelled."
Majid was taken aback, normally as a crippled, if ever some gave him a chance it's from the position of a benefactor, yet this Guoro went to the extent of persuading him. His opinion of this guy grew, even more, he never expected he would be associated with the royals. He planned on trying his luck on other halls before leaving the city, but now, it doesn't look like a bad idea to join this camp for the time being.
"Many thanks, Master Guoro, this disciple will be under your care," Majid bowed sincerely to this good man.
Rings!
[Congratulations on completing the quest,
you successfully get into a faction of the royal sect.
Reward: low-level free choice]
[Chain Quest:
Get into the royal sect's main branch.
Reward: high-level free choice.]
That's great but why didn't you generate another quest for his predicament just now. Though he was delighted at his gains, he was pissed off at the same time, he really can't understand what triggers a quest. It can't be that you ruled it too easy to be a quest, damn it. My life and cultivation were at stake yet no quest was generated, bullshit.
Guoro chuckled as he looked at the boy. Though it wasn't necessary, most disciples he took before kowtowed before him. Only a handful of prideful genius refrains from doing so, yet this little nasty boy carries himself like one. He didn't mind it though, he actually liked the boy more, he didn't appreciate those who easily lower themself to suck up to him.
"Han Bai came her," a tall boy hurried and stood before Guoro, he was a little bit skinny, with protruding ears.
"Help your junior register, show him around, and fill him in the ins and outs. Do you understand?"
"Understood Master," the boy straightened all he needed is a military salute.
After registering at the Main Hall, Majid stopped Han Bai, "Senior Han, can we bring our servants with us?"
Han Bai was taken aback, he sized him up and down, "do you mean you have a servant, junior Maoji," no matter how he looked at him, he didn't look the part, a young master aside, he doesn't even look like a servant of one.
"Not quite so, it's an assistant to be precise," Majid knew it looked ridiculous so he tried to moderate it a bit.
The latter wonder didn't leave his face, "yeah one of the privileges as an inner disciple is the right to bring up to 2 people with you. Some brought servants, their family or friends to help them concentrate on their cultivation."
"Great so senior instead of showing me around, I will ask you for a small favor," he hit the iron while it's hot, "can you help me bring my assistant from the city, with you, Master Fanli won't make a move hastily."
Han Bai can't ignore his Master's order, he could only stick with him. Along the way, Majid launched a series of relentless inquiries, bound by his duty Han Bai could only explain, and he has nothing to do anyway. First, of course, he asked about their allowance, it was 10 spirit stones a month and 10 mid-grade Viscera refining pills. This was the treatment Xiaode received as a core disciple back in his clan. If he could make it to the core circle, he would receive 30 each and the headmaster direct support. The school offers many facilities, such as the training field, and pagodas, like the pagoda of wisdom, cultivation, alchemy...

"Does the wisdom pagoda has any special rules," this pagoda apparently is the library.
"The wisdom pagoda has 4 flours, you can enter the first flour for 10 contribution points for general knowledge, 100 contribution points to pick one manual of low earth grade or 500 for mid earth grade manual from the second floor. 1000 for high earth grade manual from the third floor, and 10000 for a low sky book on the 4th floor."
It wasn't good news for him that the facilities work on the basis of contribution, his novels data point that he need to leave the city for monsters hunt, or bandits' subjugation, something along these lines, meaning he needs to leave the city.
"Senior, is there a way to make contribution points, without leaving the city,"
"Since the school is made for cultivating young talents of the kingdom, you can make contribution points by studying, every 4 hours you spend on any of the facilities grant you one contribution point."
Majid made some mental calculations, providing he made it until graduation after 3 years. If he busied himself for 24 hours a day, he would barely make between 6 to 7 thousand points. It was obvious that the school encouraged real contributing activities, otherwise, no one would be able to get a sky grade manual for 10 thousand points. The school, after all, needs many ways of financing to keep running. But that wasn't a problem for him, all he needed now is common knowledge, and few earth techniques are enough for reference, he already has his sky techniques to train. Majid needs to make as much knowledge for his own research and for the system growth as well.
"What about the cultivation pagoda?"
"Well, the floors cost 2, 4, 8,16 points from the first to the 4th floor per hour. But each outer disciple is granted 2 free hours per day to the first floor, while the inner disciples are granted 2 entries at the first, and 2 hours for the second floor. The same rule repeat for the core disciples, and then the teachers.
"So I can spend as long as I want for each entry on the first floor," Majid was delighted at this news, this cultivation pagoda deploy some arrays to gather Qi, it seems his worries about his cultivation speed was baseless.
"Yeah, but what use is that for," no one would spend more than an hour or so before going to the training field to temper their bodies, the only exception was the ones trying to break through to the Core Formation Realm. Han Bai widened his eyes as he remembered his special situation, "Junior, I knew you want to breakthrough, but Master Fanli is right, you better wait until you temper your body first."
"I understand Senior Han, don't worry."
-----
"Is here where you reside Junior Maoji," looking at the rundown inn, Han Bi couldn't help but roll his eyes at Majid, servant you said, my ass. This was the lowest of the low inns in the city, no cultivator would settle in this place, even most mortals find it beneath themselves. How does this dirty poor guy have the nerves to defy Master Fanli, he could only shake his head as he looked at him disappearing inside.
"Teemao I made it to the school but not before I made an enmity with the Divine Hammer School Hall Master because of what happened yesterday." Majid looked seriously at him, "anyway, I can bring you with me, do you want to come along."
"Maoji, I told the day I accepted your invitation, I embarked-"
"Ok, ok, I got it, collect your things fast, a senior is waiting for us outside," Teemao seemed to flew into action as he heard about the senior, so Majid looked at the little fox.
"Foxy get in, we need to move again," Foxy wasn't able yet to communicate even though he broke through to the second layer. Though he wasn't at his mother's level yet Majid speculated it had nothing to do with it, but the soul instead.
Majid could sense someones following them, most likely sent by Fanli, but it didn't seem like they would make a move. Once they made it back to the school Han Bai excused himself like promised.
"Ok, Teemao let's get you registered first,"
They were walking toward the main hall when suddenly Maoji jerked Teemo to the side.
"You better give me the money I owe you,"
Teemao was taken aback, "What are you talking about,"
"Don't play dumb with me," Majid winked at him, accustomed to his ways, Teemao collected himself as he recognized something was off. At the corner of his eye, he could see a group of 3 people passing by their side. He gasped as he made out their identity, and cold sweat beaded on his forehead, he swang his head to the other side.
The boy in the middle looked at them briefly, his eyes sized them up before he looked away, look at this dirty beggars, "I wonder why would the school mix us with trash." he shook his head as he went past not bothering to hide his contempt.
Majid suddenly froze in his place, before he turned his neck following the departing boy, there was a fur cape on his back, a fur he knew all too well. Blood boiled in his vines as his eyes turned red, fixating on the boy.
"So it was really you Xugao," Majid has his doubts before, but now he was sure, with this their blood debt was set in stone.
Xugao felt something odd, he looked back and found one of the boys looking at him, he couldn't make out his face clearly under the hood, but his dark eyes were furious, staring back at him. Look at this guy, pride is it, it looks like I need to make my position clear here.
He didn't look at his subordinates as he walked past them, " find an appropriate chance and make sure to discipline that trash for me, I don't want to face a similar situation again." He knew better than to act up, his clan amount to nothing here, but he can't be careful even when stepping on weeds and ants.
"Understood Young Master Xugao," both of them looked at Majid threateningly burning him in their mind, before they followed their master.
"You're all together, great, I will wait for you," Majid heard what they said as Xugao didn't make an effort to hide his intention. He recognized those two as well, as Xugao accomplices in murdering Xiaode. Kids or whatnot, karma is ripe, he decided these guys shall be his first sacrifice in his path of cultivation. Sooner or later they would find out his identity, better lunch on them before they dine on him.
"Teemao let's go," Majid walked away with his blood bubbling and urgency to increase his power, only then Teemao got ahold of himself and followed after him. Leaving behind an orange sun falling on the horizon.
