《The Story Of Ash》Chapter 4 : The Prison Break : Part 2

The old guy and I have been walking for about 10 minutes and I relished in the fact that I have something to do now, I just cannot handle doing nothing. I look at the old guy who was hesitant at first to leave his cell, but now his eyes are shining like a kid who got his first taste of chocolate. I wonder what the old guy's name was but is it not too late to ask him? Oh maybe I will just name him?!. I think that my idea is probably one of the greatest ideas known to man so I say to him
"Old man I am going to call you Graham from now on, So learn to live with it" I laugh quite loudly at my great naming scene.
The old man looks at me like he has spotted a special kind of person and starts speaking.
"My name is edward thank you very much" Graham says with a proud expression
"Nah your name is Graham now, So you are going to have to find a way to change your name because all I am going to do is remember Graham"
"This little shit" and Graham started complaining while we were walking through this prison.
The prison is huge and has the size of the city above, I am just wondering why I have no seen one guard while we were on our way out. Seeing the look on my face graham sigh and answer the question which is about to leave my lips.
"There are no guards because no one is stupid enough to come down here, see the huge door over there?." I look over and a massive door is blocking the next part of where we need to go.
"Beyond that door, they have put little monsters who you could defeat quite easily and one big monster futher down, which for you would be a cake walk".
"Then how does this prison hold people? If the monsters are so weak?" I am slightly skeptical of this system.
"Ash there is no monster around this newbie village that can be your match, i am still extremely curious about how you were so weak you got put it here?"
" Just never fall from the sky Graham it is never fun"
He looks at me like I am special again, I cast of his gaze and the door which is honestly freaking huge. The bunny on my head has started making growling noises, He seems to be alerting me to the monsters on the other side. (What a nice bunny) Considering I do not know my own strength or how to hold back, I put my leg up and use my ultimate skill which i used on the jaguar back in my old world. I booted the door and to my continued surprise it flew to the opposite side with creaked hinges and a foot print and all I hear are huge cries coming from under the massive door. Then I hear the ever so present 'DING'
System Notification: You have killed x30 Level 6 wolves and have reached level 6. +10 all stats per level
'DING'
System Notification: For killing so many without mercy you have unlocked the title 'No mercy monster killer' monster will look at you like you killed their first born child and want to attack you regardless of power differences.

" hahhaha just like I thought boy! This low level place is not suited for you to grow! Haha you already eliminated all the little ones with a kick now all that is left is the boss! Hhaha " Graham looks a couple years younger now.
"Is this not a bit easy Graham?" I am actually getting bored again..... Maybe I should take a nap?
"Boy, what do you expect from a newbie village?! but be careful every time you use a portal to go to the next village you will understand levels are meaningless" Graham has a wise look on his face like he has seen some things.
"I guess what your saying makes sense, In my own world I did not have any levels and I already have become the strongest their,""I should just follow my own rules to become the strongest here".
Graham nods his head at me like he was expecting such an answer. "You have a good way of looking at things boy, and maybe you will survive these Villages".
"Hey Graham what do you mean by portal to the next village?" I cannot hide the excitement in my voice for the thought of something next.
"It is quite simple really, in each village when you reach a certain strength you can walk through a village portal which is located in the church and that will allow you to go to the next village, Only bandits merchants or demons come from outside the village, of course, there are exemptions in the rule like, Adventures are people who hunt but they have a bracelet when they leave so they can be identified on the way in and not be attacked".
"Oohhhh So is why they attacked me without hearing my side of the story". I felt a bit better after coming to this conclusion.
"Hey Graham how do get magic skills and skills to see the monsters or peoples' level?" I say while stepping over the door I removed from its position.
" I can give you the inspect skill which let you see other people and monster stats but for anything else you need to find the books for magic or stealth or find a qualified teacher".
He looks at me annoyed and adds
"AND MY NAME IS EDWARD NOT GRAHAM" He says with a huge vein coming out of his head.
" Ok ok Graham now give me the inspect skill so I can see everyone stats" I moved my hand moving my hair out of my face so i look angry but i cannot pull it off.
" You morherbeeeping #########" Graham really likes his new name
He raises his hand and with a white light comes out and goes towards my head and I hear the ever so present DING
System Notification: You have unlocked the skill Inspect. When straining your eyes to look at something you can see the people's status, You can also Inspect obeject or items by straining your eyes.
While I am happy I got my second skill ever I thought about my first skill Pressure Switch which I have not used yet, I think the boss will be a good chance to try that skill of mine.

We have walked for about 5 mins and we have finally found the boss room, I know this because their are stairs behind the boss which lead to the outside world. I look at this boss really hard straining my eyes so my skill will activate
Wolf King (BOSS) - Bronze Boss
Level: 10
Strength: 500
Def: 500
Speed: 700
Stamina: 500
Title : Wolf King, Hater of Humans
Description : King of the wolves, Vicious and deadly, Hates all humans for locking him away from the moon and will not let any humans pass by him without a fight.
"Is that not to much Strength Speed Stamina for his level?" I am quite confused about the leveling system of this world, But once again I am reminded that levels are not omnipotent
"There are Bronze,Silver,Gold Classes of monster which are stronger then the rest, I have even heard stories on my travels that their are classes about gold which no one has ever slain. Apparently they give myth and legendary Items to the user if slain.
While we are having a nice chat the wolf looks at me with such bloodlust it makes me step back a bit, I wonder if this is the work of my new title or that the wolf is just this angry by nature.
I look at the wolf and I decide to Activate Pressure Switch, as soon as use this skill I feel like all my feelings and little annoyance and also the bloodlust I never new I had came rolling out of me and turned into pressure which smashed into the wolfs mind. I look at the wolf and I can see the legs shaking and it looks like it is about to black out, I quickly run up to it at a speed that the wolf cannot help but tremble in fear at, and before the wolf can even move on it's shaky legs I put both my hand on each side of the wolfs head and twist. SNAP and just like that the wolfs head is twisted the wrong way and the light has gone out of the wolf's eyes. I did not really think it would be a fight when I used my skill and saw the shaky legs
I look down at the corpse which has a book their, I look at it for a few second and start to pick it as soon as I am about to pick it up I hear Ding.
System Notification: You have slain the Wolf King and have earned the title "Wolf Slayer". any wolves that come across you are more likely to not pick a fight with their kings killer.
Ding.
System Notification: You have slained the Bronze Boss 'Wolf King' and Have leveled to level 10. Bonus exp was added for slaining a Boss level creature.
While reading all the notification I have a smile on my face because as soon as I go to other village I will have even stronger monsters, I lean down and grab the book I could not before and as soon as I touch it, It morphs into a weapon and I hear the Ding
System Notification: For slaying the Bronze Boss 'Wolf King' You have been given the wolf Scythe weapon.
I grabed the scythe with ease and quickly strain my eyes to see what kinda weapon it was.
Wolf Scythe (Bronze rare weapon)
Weapon type : Scythe
Attack: 350
Def: 250
Speed: 600
Description: The wolf king was slain and a worthy weapon was made from his ashes.
I laugh at my new weapon, I have no training to use this weapon, but I will use it until I find something better, I do not think, I should be using my fist for everything.
While Inspecting my new weapon I notice that Graham has been quiet, I turn around to find him face first on the ground and it looks like he has fainted, I use this time to inspect a human to see if there are any differences.
Edward Lockheart
Level : 80
Attack: 1500
Def: 1000
Stamina : 700
Mana: 8000
Status: Fainted (By the pressure switch)
Titles: The last of the lockhearts, The heirloom keeper,The old man known as Graham
Description: An old man who was a mage for the lockhearted family, Their family was tricked by the royal city family to give up their family heirloom and killed, Edward is the last of the lockhearts
I look at the old man with a few feelings, He has had it quite hard with the royal city family and this heirloom, I pick up the old man who looks like his down on his luck and start ascending the stairs to freedom, There was another huge door which was open and had light shining in which looked like to be the exit but unlike anywhere else I had been this had as many as 100 guards there but they all look like they are either drinking or playing a varient of the game poker. I use the muscles in my legs to get ready for a made dash to the exit and my quickest speed for a dash to freedom. I am painfully aware I do not have the smarts and the skills to get put them which is why I went for the approach of brute strength, I smashed of the ground with a BOOOM! and as soon as blinked I was already outside of not only the prison but even the city.
I quickly get my bearings and climb up a hill which is quite easy for me to do and look down at the city and I see the prison's exit which as over 80 bodies out side which looks like a massive gust of wind smashed them all out. And looking at the city it is in not better state, In a straight line from where I was running at full power are collapsed building and even the wall that protects the city has been smashed down from wear I ran out.... 'Awh shit" I swear I did not do it on purpose as I look at the mess I made just from trying to get out.

Dreams or Another World - Not a Zero (Update 09/19/21)
(Updated 09/19/21) Hello and welcome. If you made it this far and the book title sounds interesting, I'm hoping you'll read a few chapters. Here's a sample from chapter 1 of "Dreams or Another World - Not a Zero."Slowly starting to wake up, I become aware. It's like coming out of a fog.Head hurts.Body hurts. There's a conversation in the room. This isn't my bed. Someone is touching my arm. I crack my eyes to look. She doesn't notice. Is she praying for me? Her hands do feel good…do feel... Slipping back unconscious, my eyes slowly close. I didn't notice the soft green glow under Jenn’s hands.*******************"It does look like he saved them or at least stalled them long enough for us to get there." says the man dressed more like a park ranger than an officer of the law. "I did think he was part of it at first" he continues "but the evidence shows he wasn't there and they were certainly fighting on that back road where we found them""I don't care who he is." says a woman as she enters the room. "He saved and protected my Jenn. I will make sure there's not a mark or a scar on him before he leaves". As she continues the few steps over to the men speaking, even though dressed simply in common clothes, there is no doubt the race of elves is in her heritage. The grace and lines of her form. The elegance and lightness of her step. She glances at her daughter, still watching over the young man in the bed. "Do we know who he is yet?" she asks no one in particular."Not yet dear" a man in a white coat responds. A handsome middle-aged man. Fit, but not that of a fighter or ranger. "I asked Talon to bring another identification stone with him. I was hoping ours was just broke, but it's reading the same.""What do you think is wrong?" Talon asks."I'm thinking we just have to wait until he recovers. I have heard of cases where the stone didn't work. Powerful spells can hide or wipe a person clean. I doubt he's a spy or a criminal. Spells like that are just too high level if, they're used at all. My best guess is, there is just some disconnect with him being unconscious. When he wakes, we can ask him or use the stone again then."I find myself waking up in a hospital bed. The attending Doctor finds it odd that he cannot identify my class. An Officer says I’m a Hero for saving a girl from being kidnapped, but he’s asking too many questions for my liking. I know an accusing tone when I hear it. I don’t remember any of it and I need to find my way home.Author’s notes. Original work. First draft and update of chapters 1-16. Inspired by various fantasy games and books. Written with a focus on character development and interaction. Combat, progression, leveling, classes, but no numbers or stats. I’ll try to keep the language clean, PG-13, no smut. I’m in the US, writing in English. Almost fifty chapters are completed as I pen this introduction. I intend to complete this story or at least bring it to a proper ending. I have a destination in mind. I find as I write, doors and ideas open, while others close and are discarded. The tentative release schedule will be once a week. I'm new to creating. My apologies now while I learn. I have not settled on a book cover or artwork, still looking for something that fits. Registered & Protected #20VjeKDv2U6nynW6

Ode to Fallen Angels
Jericho, the land of humanity, squirms in pain. Magic has been forbidden for so long in this so called "Age of Silence", that all Arcane knowledge has been presumed lost and irrecoverable, and the echoes of God's Will grow fainter with every passing year. The sight of Demihuman caravans is less frequent every day, as the likes of orcs and elves have learned to no longer beg for help from those who despise them. Clearly, they can expect more from the voracious wild lands than from humankind. Many have succumbed to despair, some driven mad by their fruitless efforts to bring back a Golden Age that they only ever read about in books. And in the middle of it all, in an old chapel lost in the Eastern lands, young Gabrielle lives in complete ignorance. She is another orphan living under the mercy of the Church of the Saints; one bearing the mark of evil in her red hair, the telltale sign of a Witch. In an Age of the Silent, the Prejudiced, and the Hateful, she clings to a single hope: that one day, be it in life or maybe after it all ends, she may find herself forgiven of her sin. The sin of being born.

Homeland
NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER -- In Cory Doctorow’s wildly successful Little Brother, young Marcus Yallow was arbitrarily detained and brutalized by the government in the wake of a terrorist attack on San Francisco—an experience that led him to become a leader of the whole movement of technologically clued-in teenagers, fighting back against the tyrannical security state.A few years later, California's economy collapses, but Marcus’s hacktivist past lands him a job as webmaster for a crusading politician who promises reform. Soon his former nemesis Masha emerges from the political underground to gift him with a thumbdrive containing a Wikileaks-style cable-dump of hard evidence of corporate and governmental perfidy. It’s incendiary stuff—and if Masha goes missing, Marcus is supposed to release it to the world. Then Marcus sees Masha being kidnapped by the same government agents who detained and tortured Marcus years earlier.Marcus can leak the archive Masha gave him—but he can’t admit to being the leaker, because that will cost his employer the election. He’s surrounded by friends who remember what he did a few years ago and regard him as a hacker hero. He can’t even attend a demonstration without being dragged onstage and handed a mike. He’s not at all sure that just dumping the archive onto the Internet, before he’s gone through its millions of words, is the right thing to do.Meanwhile, people are beginning to shadow him, people who look like they’re used to inflicting pain until they get the answers they want. Fast-moving, passionate, and as current as next week, Homeland is every bit the equal of Little Brother—a paean to activism, to courage, to the drive to make the world a better place.
