After walking around the wall they arrived at its opposite side.

"What are you doing here?"

As they arrived they were met with three men who were dressed in normal clothes but they were clearly not normal citizens. Each of them had a long and triangular tattoo going from below their right eye to the middle of their cheek.

If one lived in Palos city he would definitely recognize that tattoo as the mark of the SnakeFang gang.

They marked almost all their mind and low level members with this tattoo to be easily recognized by the people so they would know not to deal with them. The high level members had no such tattoo and they remained unknown by the majority of the members of the gang.

"You know that this place is under the SnakeFang gang's control so how about you scram.”

The four of them tensed up. The really didn't think that they would have to deal with the SnakeFang gang's goons. They could definitely decide to leave but what explanation were they going to give the higher ups.

"We're sorry to have intruded into your territory without any notice but as you would have guessed we came here to find the cause of the noise that happened here."

"Is that right?"

After saying that, the thug took a 30 cm dagger from his waist and waived it at them.

The dagger was really not a big threat taking into consideration that the four of them were almost fully decked in armour and that each one of them was equipped with a long sword. The tiny dagger was just like a toothpick for the four of them but they dared not move.

If the attacked even one of them they would be killed by the gang. They took their reputation very seriously and they could not let anyone who tarnished their reputation live.

They being part of the city guards would get the protection from the city, right?

Wrong.

The city guards were one of the most corrupt parts of the city defence forces. They dealt in regular with merchants so bribery was very common and a city guard who hadn't even a bribe was non-existent. They all took bribes from merchants so why not take from the local gangs also.

"Look, we just want to search around for any clue and go on our way.”

"Scram."

A tall and thin thug that was bold shouted and rushed the four of them.

"Hiaaaa...

He shouted with all his might while running towards them in a stabbing motion.

Hal who was at the front didn't even flinch and took his sword from the scabbard and hit the yelling thug in the face with the flat side of the blade.

*Slap*

"Gaaa...

He fell to the ground while holding his face with both hands. The sword slap didn't do any damage but it definitely hurt.

"Bastard, you dare defy the SnakeFang gang?

You're dead.”

The two other thug's prepared to attack also but we're stopped by a shout.

“Iron tail, Steel fang.”

They stopped in their tracks and just stood there bewildered. What they just heard was the hidden code that undercover members of the SnakeFang gang would use to be identified.

"How do you know that phrase? Are you....

"Yes I'm what you are thinking so just stand down. We just want to find out what happened and were gone."

They nodded and took their injured pal before leaving.

After about five minutes the four of them got some information from the thug's. They being here first had found out something from the destroyed part not the wall.

"It's this right here. This rock is one that we found while we were searching for the cause it the hole.

We first thought that some elementlists used one of his elemental arts to cause the whole but...

The thug stared a relatively large rock that was part of the wall.

Anyway it's your problem now. We're out of here.

The four of them gathered around the rock and just stared.

"It's a trick right? There is no way that someone could do such a thing."

“I don't know. It may be possible from what I heard but the amount not people in Palos City who posses such strength is numbered by the fingers of our hands."

"Then that means that there are 10 or less people who are capable of this right?"

"*Sigh*

Look here Fal. These types of people are very secretive about their strength and don't want to be known so...

After some more talk they took the stone with them and went to report this.

All along the way they had one though; I hope to will never meet the one who did this.

The stone they were carrying had a deep about 1 cm bloody fist print on it.
