《Gabriel "The Bastard Son"》The Trench coat
Advertisement
Mak and Carmen went to the same tattoo shop that Gabriel pashed by and looked for the tattoo artist that presumably had information on the cult, they knocked on the door but got no answer what so ever, Mak
opened the door slowly and waved to Carmen to follow him in the shop. When they entered the shop was empty, there wasn't anyone inside...
Mak-Strange.
Carmen-What's strange?
Mak-There is no one here.
Carmen-I can see that.
Mak-If the owner wasn't here the door should have been locked, shouldn't it?
Carmen-I guess you are right.
Mak-Wait close to the door.
Carmen-Not again.
Mak-I need you to be able to run if anything happens.
Carmen-You are scaring me.
Mak-I didn't mean to, please though, stay close to the door.
Carmen-Ok.
Carmen went close to the door and waited for Mak to continue his search in the shop, after a couple of seconds Mak called for Carmen...
Mak-Carmen, take a look at this.
Carmen-What's going on?
Mak-Come over here, behind the counter.
Carmen went beside Mak behind the counter and saw the dead body of the tattoo artist,a large bullet hole on his forehead and the fact that he was still bleeding indicated that the man was killed on purpose and
very recently.
Carmen-Who would do something like that?
Mak-I have no idea, but he can't be far from here.
Carmen-Why you say that?
Mak-Judging from the looks of it, the murderer is very skilled, a professional no doubt.
Carmen-A hitman?
Mak-Who would hire a hitman for this poor bastard?
Carmen-Then?
Mak- He had connections with the cult, maybe someone from the inside.
Carmen-Why would they kill their own man?
Mak-So he wouldn't leak out information.
Carmen-I can't look at it anymore, what do we do now?
Mak-We have to go outside and ask the people living nearby if they heard a gunshot.
Carmen-Right.
So Mak and Carmen went outside and started asking the people nearby if they heard a gunshot, most of them didn't even bother to reply and others said they didn't hear anything, they were probably afraid, the

area nearby was a ghetto, people asking about gunshots were presumed as policemen and no one wanted to mess with the police in these parts of the town, Mak didn't get a clear answer until one brave man that
happened to come across their path gave them some astonishing information...
Mak-Hey sir.
Stranger-Hello there.
Mak-I don't mean to scare you but I need your help with something.
Stranger-How can I help?
Carmen-Did you by any chance hear a gunshot?
Stranger-What if I did?I haven't done anything!I swear!
Mak-Don't worry, we are not cops.
Stranger-Who are you then?
Mak-My friend at the tattoo shop was killed recently, I need to know who did it.
Stranger-Oh crap! The old man was killed?Maybe the guy with the trenchcoat...
Mak-What guy?
Stranger-I did here a gunshot about half an hour ago...
Mak-Tell me about the guy with a trenchcoat.
Stranger-He must have shot the tattoo artist, he did give me money in order to keep quiet about the gunshot.
Mak-So a guy with a trenchcoat gave you money to keep your mouth shut?
Stranger-Basically yes.
Carmen-Ummm...Mak.
Mak-Not now Carmen please, where is that guy now?
Stranger-I don't know, he should be far by now.
Mak-Fuck.
Carmen-Mak?
Mak-What is it girl?
Carmen-Remember the guy I told you about?
Mak-The pervert?
Carmen-He did wear a trenchcoat.
Stranger-A black one?
Carmen-Yes.
Stranger-That's him.
Mak-What the fuck?Did you see his face?
Carmen-Yes.
Mak-We have to talk, thank you sir, you helped a lot.
Stranger-Just put the fucker in jail!Cold blooded killers like him don't deserve to walk out free.
Mak-For the last time!I am not a cop!
Stranger-Whatever, hope i never see him or you again.
Mak-Same.
Carmen-Bye and thank you.
Mak lead Carmen to a nearby alley in order to talk about something that he couldn't while the stranger was listening,as soon as he was sure that no one was nearby he turned to Carmen...
Mak-You saw his face right?
Carmen-Yeah i did.
Mak-He didn't hurt you, did he?

Carmen-Not at all, he was really rude though when i asked about the cult.
Mak-He must be a member then.
Carmen-Why would he shoot the tattoo artist then?
Mak-I am not sure.Maybe some internal affairs.I need you to do something.
Carmen-What?
Mak-I want you to try and find that guy using Clairvoyance.
Carmen-If i could use it,i would have found Gabriel already.
Mak-If you have met the person before you can locate him, and if you do manage to find him, I want you to try and read his mind.
Carmen-I'll try, give me a minute.
Mak-Take your time.
Carmen focused on the image of the man she met before, after a couple of minutes she got a glimse of him, of course that man was Gabriel but Carmen never got a chance to ask his name, for the moment she was
searching for the guy with the trenchcoat and since Mak can't see what Carmen sees he has no idea that the man Carmen is looking for through Clairvoyance is the same person he searched this whole time, the only
reason he was looking for a way in the cult was to see if his theory was correct and Gabriel was in fact inside the Rebellion of Light.
Carmen-I found him.
Mak-Ok, now without losing the vision, try and read his mind.
Carmen-Ok...
Carmen tried to read the mind of her target but to no effect, she managed to pick a small sample of his intentions.
Carmen-I can't read his mind completely.
Mak-Why is that?
Carmen-He is not a normal person, his emotions are nearly not existant, his mind is like a maze, I can't see clearly what's happening inside his head.
Mak-We now know for a fact that he is immune to your Mind Read.
Carmen-My head hurts!
Mak-Stop then ,try to focus on the area around him.
Carmen-He is in the middle of a busy road, people are passing by him, he is sitting down on a bench watching his phone.
Mak-What is he doing on his phone?
Carmen-He is looking for a place with GPS.
Mak-Can you see what is he searching for?
Carmen-An abandoned storage house, not far from where his is.
Mak-Anything else?A street adress?
Carmen-He is close to us!
Mak-Ok, you can stop for now.
Carmen opened her eyes and stopped using Clairvoyance...
Carmen-What should we do?
Mak-Nothing for now, we will stay here and go at the storage house at midnight.
Carmen-Why at midnight?
Mak-The Rebellion always operates at midnight, I am guessing that they are going to gather at midnight, we will meet our friend there probably.
Carmen-You think he is going to the meeting?
Mak-I am sure about it, if he is the one that killed the tattoo artist. He probably wanted to keep the location of the meeting safe.
Carmen-What if he is guarding the entrance?
Mak-I doupt that, the cult always welcomes new members, we now have a chance to get in.
So Mak and Carmen finally have a place to start, unlike Gabriel they didn't use violence in order to get information but they instead used the powers that Carmen possessed, they completely abandoned the search
for the Faceless Hunter at this point as if Carmen's dream never occured, their goal now was to enter the Rebellion of Light and find out if their leader is in fact Gabriel or if he has any information about him.Mak was
certain that there was a connection between Gabriel and the Rebellion, who else has powers like those?According with the information that Mak has at the moment, only three people can use simillar powers, the cult leader, the
Faceless Hunter and of course Gabriel, he didn't know that two of these people were the same person.Gabriel on the other hand had only one goal, find the cult leader and see if he is the real deal or a fraud that takes
advantage of people, either way his mind is set, elliminate the cult as soon as possible.

Discord Community: https://discord.gg/3tHKHAx7Ye The Vitaean Chronicles are a debut LitRPG High Fantasy series written with the intent of filling a niche I've yet to see filled anywhere else. This is my first novel of this kind, so please be patient with me. Throughout this story, I will endeavour to create an evolving and expansive narrative anchored around believable characters, compelling plotlines, and a consistent and sensible magic system. The purpose of this work is to create what I believe to be a relatively unique piece of fiction, drawing inspiration from many great stories that have come before from the likes of Tolkien, Jordan, Hertbert, Goodkind, Pratchett, Martin, and several others. My goal is not to create a masterpiece, but simply to create a story that someone can read and re-read with the same joy, same frustration, and same investment each time. This story will contain violence, politics, Shakespearian drama, tongue-in-cheek references, adult content, and well-crafted relationships of both platonic and romantic natures. I will not promise you will like every choice I make. I can only guarantee that I will do my best to create a story I, and you, can be proud of. As I progress, I will have room to incorporate fan-made characters for those interested in making their mark within the tapestry of this tale (with the customary disclaimer that they do so while waiving any rights to future profit, lol). Thank you to Royal Road for giving me the platform to do that, and thank you dear readers past, present, and future for choosing to come on this journey with me. Finally, just to cover myself: This work is Copyrighted to the Author herein known as 'Hannibal Forge', and recreation, distribution, or re-release of any material herein in a commercial or public capacity absent permission from the Author can and will be prosecuted to the full extent of the Law.

Windwalker
Having subdued its surrounding enemies, the former Sulic Empire is faced with unrest brewing from within. Society is torn in two. The reigning mentalists constantly persecute the subjugated elementals under the pretence of curbing the explosive potential of their destructive powers. And in the shadows, Sulic’s old enemies have been lying in wait a long time, looking for the first sign of weakness to make their move. Can they reconcile their differences and help steer Sulic away from tearing itself apart? Windwalker explores themes of societal struggle and self-discovery. Book One: Rising Wind Kal has trained to be a soldier his entire life. His days are simple, and his duties clear: enforce the rules, upkeep the peace, and most important — police the elementals. If they step out of line, the Governance system corrects it. But when Kal encounters a young boy whom he suspects might be an illegal earthborn, he can’t bring himself to report him. Despite his training and the advice of friends, he decides to help him onto what he believes is the right path. This choice lands him in more trouble than he bargained for, and he soon discovers that the veneer the Governance is built upon an ugly and crumbling foundation.
