《Shining Duos》Griffin Trial (1)

Various colors of beautiful lightning danced around in barren mountain land. It was never-ending strikes of lightning raining down from the sky as the mountains still remained tall and robust.
A boy who was observing this was almost sucked into this magical sight, becoming wholly entranced by it.
Naturally, the boy, Kazami, has witness beautiful sight while at home in God Realms, but for an odd reason, he couldn't take his eyes away from this scene.
Until his blood started to flare up and spiral frantically, which in turn Kazami jolted up and promptly bite his tongue.
He instantly regains clarity but, at the same time, had a cold sweat.
'That was almost too close! If my bloodline didn't jolt me up, I would've just stood there like puppet allowing anything to come and get me.'
Not even a few seconds into the trial and Kazami has to reevaluate on the dangers of this trial. This lightning has some strange and powerful effects on one spirit, even if one is in a high realm.
Wanting to be as careful as possible, Kazami expanded his spirit sense, only to immediately recall it back after a few seconds donning a fearful expression.
In the mere few seconds, he expanded his spirit sense countless disturbing and disgusting images flashed in his mind at blinding speed.
To fearsome lightning looking monster, to bloody cruel deaths and anything in between ran through his mind. For seconds he was stunned until bloodline flare up again and shook him awake.
Shaking his head to regain focus Kazami only had one thought in mind;
A test of frightening illusion power!
And while Kazami was almost correct, the real power came from the Senior Myla mythical and mysterious eyes. Rarely anyone in the universe besides the Griffin godly race will ever understand the properties of these eye powers.
Eye powers refer to the direct three-way connection between one soul, spirit sense, and of course, eyes. On average, among the other races, even the strongest cultivators would rarely have eye powers or minimal ones if they do.
This is why not much information is given out beside the powerful illusion one can get cast under these transcendent eyes.
Kazami, after taking a second to clear himself, felt a growing indignant feeling inside himself after getting stunned two times back to back.

During all of his time on this planet, never once he felt threatened by the mortals here, but for the second time, a Godhood powerhouse cultivator caused fear for him.
Kazami, ever since the Youth Mind games, despised the feeling of being helpless in front of gods and felt he deserve to be in the superior position because of his talent, divine bloodline, and divine powers.
With all kinds of frustrated feelings inside him, he stopped for a minute breathed in and out, going into a calculating and calm state.
'I get it now, what Senior Myla mention the Griffin god race power of the eyes, huh...Alright, let's see whose eyes are better than!'
Getting a new idea, Kazami poured Qi power into his eyes, creating a unique sensation he never quite felt before. It was almost effortlessly to do and flowed naturally into his eyes.
The world seemed almost brighter and more apparent than ever. On the inside, he could feel his spirit sense on a much deeper level now. And as well he felt a connection to an unfamiliar source of power.
Although he couldn't stand there all day and observing the ground, he saw a section of the dirt trail being darker than the rest.
Going off from the two past experience he guessed terrible things will happen if he randomly walked and went on this specific section of the trail.
As he started walking on it, Senior Myla was already shocked by his swiftness of breaking illusions and finding the right path.
'Not even seconds in and yet he already broken illusions that should put even those might Emperor Sea cultivators to sleep. And to think he similarly one of those rare humans who can pour Qi into their eyes without going half-blind.'
Despite causally stating this, pouring Qi into the eyes is usually a precarious business. Either one eyes would typically hurt, causing intense pain or if one unlucky permanently destroys a bit of their eyesight.
The only reason the other races would even attempt this because of vague rumors circulation around of, if you pour Qi into your eyes, then you may be able to train your eyes to godly levels.
But because of the constant failure and pain, now it's often seen as a worthless rumor, which is why the other races don't have eyes powers and left with little information.

Walking on this dirt trail, Kazami was soon feeling a strain in his eyes but, at the same time feeling his spirit sense undergo a slow but noticeable change.
The other unfamiliar source was increasingly becoming more natural until he had to abruptly change his focus.
As up in front, an white lightning strike targeted him only; its speed was somewhat slow?
Slower than he thought lightning should be but getting prepared, he raised his lightning Qi into an aura that protected him.
He didn't want to step off this specific part of the trail, and with no other options he stood steady as,
'BANG!'
The white lightning clashed against him and rooted Kazami in place.
Oddly enough, the aftershocks of this electricity stung him but didn't affect him that much giving him that much more confidence.
Only when he tried raising his power to destroy this white lightning, he couldn't budge it at all. His red ice aura leaked out, and using his other hand threw a ball of red ice Qi on the lightning assured in freezing it.
However, to his dismay, his Qi simply bounced off the white lightning and froze apart of the ground. Clicking his tongue, Kazami had enough and unleashed his divine bloodline in an attempt to crush the white lightning.
Yet once again, no matter how hard he tried, the white lightning wouldn't budge a single inch.
'Enough of this!'
He roared out in his mind and blasted his divine powers out fully, causing a silver flash to break out.
Now the white lightning started to tremble, and suddenly a second strand of electricity whipped out of this strike!
Before Kazami could even react, it swiftly swiped his side, bringing upon a force he hadn't expected.
It threw him to the right a bit, almost knocking him off his feet, but Kazami manage to stay balanced. And threw out this attack, he still had to keep his hand up as the white lightning stay glued to him no matter what.
Leading to him not paying attention to his foot stepping outside the section of this trail.
Once his foot landed there, suddenly intense tremors shook the entire space, and the lightning from the sky became wild.
'SKWAA!'
He only had a second to look above as a colossal eagle monster coated in black lightning crashed right into him.
'BOOOM!'
Kazami got sent soaring like a bullet through the air but, at the last second, flipped himself over to land on his feet.
Being in his most robust state, he was able to absorb most of the impact, but blood leaked from his right arm of where the eagle strikes him.
He wasn't given any time to breathe as the same white lightning, which didn't get destroyed from that impact, dashed to him again along with the eagle monster.
This time using his highest speed, Kazami jumped high in the sky only to feel something quickly coming to him.
He couldn't even turn his head entirely as an exceedingly fast lightning bolt struck him sending him flying several miles away and crashing into the ground.
Like a rag doll, he was getting tossed around by this trial, but getting up Kazami was frighteningly calm at this point.
Closing his eyes, he cared little for whatever strike was coming at him again, and this time decided to follow an insane idea that may leave severe damage.
'Griffin God' eyes. Illusion power, unbreakable lightning, this eagle monster, and that quick strike. That unfamiliar source gave me an impression something is unnatural here, so I will push my eyes to the limit!'
He frantically poured all of his Qi into his eyes at his strongest state caring little for the consequences, which only served him with massive pain.
"AHHHH!"
He roared out in pain but still struggle to maintain consciousness as he knew the eagle and white lightning was quickly coming from him.
In this experience, he felt his spirit sense becoming more connected to his eyes and that unfamiliar source of power.
'SKWAA!'
He heard the eagle shout near him, but at the same time, he finally manages to identify the new source of power as his soul!
'BANG!'
It like his entire spirit sense, eyes, and soul just hugely transformed because of this, giving Kazami an all-new powerful sensation.
Opening his eyes again, he was hugely surprised by what he saw and felt.

He enters a game-like world, a sort of limbo, where his ultimate goal is to climb the tower of Katastroph before his mother's time runs out. There are a few problems with this though. The tower is almost impossible to beat, if you die you won't revive, and only three people in over twenty years have actually made it back. Then (more) dark again. Disclaimer: This story is an experimental project and I hope to get any and all feedback you can give me. Warning: First draft. Chapters tend to be between 3400-4100 words long (about 8-11 A4-pages). Mentioning it since I've seen it in other fictions :P Sometimes they're shorter, sometimes they're longer. ******************************** CHAPTER RELEASES UPDATE: As the first "book" in the series is done, I'm going to release coming chapters somewhat sporadically, and when Writathon ends, I'll probably go back to publishing one chapter per weekend. We'll just have to wait and see! I hope you enjoy the story!
