《Got Yeet into Murim (Xianxia-Wuxia Hybrid)》Chp 6 Guardians

YEET! It was slang for a thing being thrown out, without regard for it being broken! Right now, that was exactly what Yun Zhi felt. After being thrown by those three old fossils into the gate, she was having the thrill of a lifetime. The bluish portal kept pushing and sucking her forward at the same time. Her face kept changing expression all the time, as if some granny was massaging her face without regard for her suffering. While that was happening, she was resenting those three... What the heck! Throwing me out into another star system, just cause I didn't make trouble here and there? Why don't you throw those disciples who offend other sects over?! She didn't make trouble, nuh-uh. She was just eating and sleeping in her room. All-day, all night! She didn't bother anyone! Can't a neet just be living, in peace? So violent, you guys need to learn yoga! Well, sometimes some annoying elders came to bother, so I just yeet them out of my room. That can't deserve me the death penalty like now, right? This is abuse... domestic abuse! 'Those three, yeet me out to another star system, and sold me off to an immortal. Your honor, I demand justice!' She'll charge them in court! W-well, maybe not... Court proceeding was too troublesome. As she feared for her life, the portal seemed to slow down. Soon, the end of the tunnel could be seen, and... she got out. More like, being thrown out... puked by that portal. She tumbled around like a ball several times, but soon, stopped. Opening her eyes, she realized her surroundings were a bit off... It was dark, no, it was filled with glittering stars. And, from her position, a bright, burning star shone with all its splendor... A sun. "Am I in space?" A bit confused, she observed her surroundings. That was indeed the case. She had been yeeted into space, nowhere near a planet. But... "I'm just a Qi Refiner..." A disciple in Qi Refining Stage, couldn't survive out in space. Only those in Soul Formation and above could. While she dreaded what was going to happen, she realized... An invisible force, seemingly protecting her from the harsh environment. Just as she noticed that, a voice greeted her; "Strange. I clearly asked for someone dependable," The voice was a man's. As he finished saying that, he sighed, seemingly resigned to his fate. Soon, his body appeared by Yun Zhi's side. Surprised, she shouted while slapping at him; "Be-begone, ghost!" "Ah, a gutsy one..." Her slap stopped in midair. Then, she noticed his appearance; a handsome East Asian-like man, with clear, peach-like skin much like a baby. With a clear white robe on, he was truly handsome, but somehow... it irked her. 'This K-pop uncle... why looked so annoying? Ah yes, all handsome men... not dependable!' Didn't she just get yeet by three handsome men? Curse you guys, learn yoga! "W-who are you, K-pop uncle?" "...That's an interesting question. Didn't you get briefed before coming?" "...?" Briefed? Ah, yes... Something like that did happen... What did they say again... I have to do forced labor... sell my body... for a badass boss... black company... Ah! "B-badass boss?!" "I somehow understand and don't understand that phrase... How funny," "D-don't come over! I'm still pure! I have worker's union backing me up!" "What? Where's this whole nonsense come from? I'm not going to force you weird stuff." The immortal uncle seemed amused, as if what she said made no sense. Yun Zhi remained cautious though. She asked; "Are... Aren't you here to give me labor work?" "Hm? Nothing of such. You just need to send a message to those in human world. It's quite a weak world, but it still needs a reminder." "M-message? You mean like, social media message...?" "A bit better. You just need to tell them to stop oppressing others, and also stop being oppressed." "Eh... Basically... Tell 'em to chill?" "Well... You can say that, easy work right?" Hearing so, Yun Zhi immediately understood. Human world? A weak world? This K-pop uncle... An immortal! She was briefed before, but her interpretation skewed the whole content. She actually forgot the badass boss was going to be an immortal. While her mind was usually blurry during normal conversation, it turned sharp since it was a question of forced labor... her survival. Her mind turned busy, analyzing what hints were given already. Stop oppressing others? Doesn't that mean sending her to big bad bosses and tell them quits? Organized crime boss, arrogant clans, big corporations, corrupt officials, religious leaders? Hey, guys! Nice day, ain't it? Um, you see... Some big badass immortal up there sent me over... Just telling you guys to stop all this corrupt and criminal nonsense. Try to live honesty from now on, chill, and we'll all be good? If you don't there'll be bad things happening... Yeah, very bad... so, peace! Will that work? Yeah right! You're kidding me! That was the same as asking to be killed! "E-easy work?! You're basically sending me to tyrants, and expect me to live? Nuh-uh! Uncle Immortal..." "Oh? You're quite fast on the uptake. Usually I need to explain first. Nice to have a sharp mind... hm? You don't look too sharp though," "Grrr, w-well... You're right. Actually... " "Also, don't forget those others being oppressed. They need some guide," "G-guide?!" Another troublesome work! She knew it. What easy work? Would an immortal give an easy work to their work slave... This was the very definition of a sweatshop! Too much work, too little pay, too high risk! Plus, the sweatshop was a wide world! This, is, scam! Telling people to stop being oppressed? Telling that to whom? People who couldn't protect themselves? Isn't that pretty much trying to rile up weak, hopeless civilians for a rebellion? Riling up tragic drama victims? What a joke! Those who can't even protect themselves, who can't even say NO to tyrants? You want me to help them out? Hellll no! Let them be! I can't even take care of myself! I'm too lazy to even take a bath! Whatever the job entailed, even the short description already made her dread it. Yun Zhi knew she had to reject... That's right. There could still be a chance! All she had to say was, she was not cut out for this job... Not qualified at all, nope. I have no degree, no diploma, not even a school certificate! No idea how to approach people, I'm a total neet! I annoy people, and I offend people all the time! I can't do business! A failure in society! I'm even a bit chubby! Yup, she only needed to explain this to him... This immortal uncle wouldn't be so petty, right? "U-uncle immortal... the truth is, I... I don't think I'm quite cut it for this... important job," "Hm, really? Well, whatever. Let's introduce ourselves first. I'm the guardian of the world we'll be in charge of. Over there," He showed her the planet she was supposed to work on. It was a shining blue planet, with hovering clouds over lush as well as barren land. A shining pearl in the middle of empty space. As if an oasis, it provided much comfort and care. In a way, it was similar to earth in Yun Zhi's blurry memory. Unfortunately, she was in no mood to appreciate its beauty. The immortal continued; "You can call me Immortal Yen, or whatever you call me just now. In a way, I'll be your direct superior... You're a bit confused, your master didn't tell you much, did he?" "Errr... yes. That scammer... I mean, master didn't tell me much," "Understandable. Introduce yourself first," "...Um, Yun Zhi, greets uncle immortal... Immortal Yen. I'm seventeen, and I have no good work record... Actually, I'm totally useless! I'm a salted fish, a neet, a failure, a disappointment! Sending me over here is a mistake. So, please... I humbly request to return," Please, send me back! You won't regret such a wise decision! Her face was clearly saying so. Immortal Yen found this one amusing. Somehow, she was completely different than other messengers. Others might be afraid, doubtful, or plain confused... But she, she was... that's not really fear. She was... Clearly, avoiding work! She dreaded work like a plague! He asked; "You're a mistake? How's so?" "I... I'm a terrible person. I just don't wanna do anything. I'll just bring trouble to you. I'm just a salted fish..." "Salted fish? You sure?" "Yes, yes! I'm a salted fish through and through!" "If you're a salted fish, you ought to be cut up and eaten. Don't you say?" "..." Dang! That's just logic! Awesome, now what? Just as she was squeezing her small brain to find what excuse to make, Immortal Yen continued; "On second thought, maybe I'll let you be..." "--! Yes, yes! Just let me be! Uncle immortal, you're so handsome!" "...Out in the sun," "...? The frickk?!" With that, he brought her out for a walk... On the sun... The barely visible layer protecting her, fluctuated. As if confirming, that it was not enough as protection... A sudden sensation struck her hard. It was too hot! The surface was bright, oh so very bright... The sensation of being burned alive... oh so memorable... Extreme Yang entering my body, cooking me... I wonder, if anyone would taste me... Will I be delicious? Maybe, if a charcoal is delicious... Maybe it was because of extreme heat, her mind went all over the place. She tried yet again, to compose a poem which makes no sense. She can't even say anything since even her throat turned so parched, she dared not open it. Seeing her seemingly being cooked alive, immortal Yen assured her; "Patience, it won't last long. The sun is beneficial for you... If you can endure," Hearing so, she cursed inside! This was not assurance, this was a complete mocking! Dang! This world guardian is too shameless! Beneficial? What beneficial? Vitamin-D? This is complete torture! Can't you let a frail maiden, yours truly, be pampered? I just wanna laze around and do nothing back home! Is that too much to ask?? Send me back, please... Stingy dried-up squid... As the fiery sun seemed to affect her, a certain part of her body shone. It was at the top of her forehead, the part which was delicate when one was a baby. It was the very place a soul got linked with the Karma Thread. Even when one grew up, this part did not turn hard. One could say it was a door of sorts. This place, seemed to be affected by the sun. ...Hot, too hot! I'm dying! "Hm, I think that's enough," As she was not able to endure anymore, the immortal raised his hand. The layer covering her strengthened, blocking the ferocious sunray and heat. While it should cease her torture, another one was coming; "Ummph?!" "Stay silent for a bit," Yun Zhi's mouth seemed to have been locked. She couldn't utter a word. It seemed this boss really was badass. Any complaining sweatshop worker had no right here! He completely shut them up! Dang, so merciless! At least, let me drink some water! "Your karma thread... Hm, barely fit... no good. Hm? This is," He clearly could see her cultivation at peak Qi Refinement. It was the highest cultivation allowed for the world she was about to be assigned to. Still, that could cause chaos in that world. Well, that was no biggie. He could just lower her cultivation temporarily until she gained enough merit for it. However, what made him felt strange was her karma... "You killed that many people?" A bit disgusted, but still, he didn't draw a quick conclusion. Somehow, that didn't fit. She was too weak to do such a thing. To him, she was no different than powerless. And it was not like she had access to some weapons capable of mass destruction, the records stated it. However... there was also something else. "Who sent you? This kind of mistake," Usually, a messenger would come from the same world. But, it was not unusual for one from another world to be sent over when necessary. They would be like a contract worker, not much privilege but still... A messenger would always be chosen from people with decent principles and character. Hers, however, was a mess. Her record listed countless murder and devastation she had committed. He checked, yet could not pierce through her karma thread any deeper... Karma thread was the link connecting her with the Heavenly Mainframe, allowing him to see her previous life records. He should be able to see the whole layers of content. However, he could only see the outer layers. Now this was too weird. Such a weak person... able to block him from accessing her record? Not possible. She was not an immortal. Her mind was a mess too. It was as if... its design was tempered with. He could not access her previous life's memory. There must be someone interfering. Someone... Either more powerful or more skilled than him. Deciding to get some kind of clue, he lifted the ban on her speech. As he did, Yun Zhi gasped for air; "Ha ha... I thought I'm done for..." "I need you to answer some questions." While being banned from speaking, Yun Zhi felt like her throat was being choked. That was not the case, but the feeling was there. Soon, a wave of tingling sensation swept over her. Now, her mind cleared out a bit. By then she realized... That this badass boss was... A jerk! A truly bad boss! Bringing her so close to the sun, then choking the hell out of her... Only to clear her mind when he wanted her to answer questions. A classic carrot and stick approach! This immortal uncle Yen... A villain! A big villain boss! As she thought so, the question from him came; "Have you ever kill people. If so, how many?" "Ehh... I only killed a few... when I was twelve... five?" She clearly didn't want to speak of it. The memory of that time was blurry, for some reason. It made her stomach churned. "...You don't seem to be lying. Who's your master? What's his cultivation?" "Um, his name... Wang Jie? He should be a Peak Dao Seeker, but I'm not sure." "Wang Jie... Dao Seeker," Closing his eyes, he seemed to be checking a record. As he saw the name, he was startled; "...Sector Guardian, Lady Xue Bai!" "Hm? What's that..." "Your master... is contracted with my superior. Hm, just stay put," Placing his finger on his forehead, he seemed to be contacting someone. Soon, the fabric of space close by started to tear open. When that happened, Immortal Yen saluted with utmost respect. "World Guardian Yen Long, greets Lady Sector Guardian!" As soon as he said so, a lady in a blue-white robe came out. In response to his greetings, she only nodded. Scanning her surroundings, her eyes soon landed on Yun Zhi. A pleasant surprise on her face, she disappeared, then appeared right in front of Yun Zhi; "Y-your cheek... who did this?!" "...?!" She placed her hands on her cheeks, plainly anxious. This caught Yun Zhi by surprise, as her response was unexpected. Soon angered by the swelling on the girl's face, the lady Sector Guardian, turned to Immortal Yen for an explanation. === Chapter 6 End ===

Cutting to Life: an NPC LitRPG (Battle Royale)
Nikola is an NPC in The World of Wills, a video game where players can feel sensations as if they were truly there. She leads a life of bloodshed and murder - that is, until one day she wakes up sapient. Just as she begins thinking real, non-scripted thoughts and making connections, she and the players in the game are told that if they die in the game, they die in real life - and it's time to get killing. But what of Nikola, the emerging AI consciousness? How does she win in a game that can only end in her being wiped from existence at the end of it all? - Updates Mondays and Fridays. Cutting to Life is a slow-burn LitRPG with a villainous (later anti-hero, or maybe still villainous, haha) female lead. It's told from the perspective of Nikola, an NPC within the World of Wills who's become sapient and is now mysteriously able to play the game as a PC. It's quite light for a LitRPG, but the system and stats become more of a focus later when Nikola herself can access them. The story gradually builds into a Battle Royale where the players' lives are on the line (if you die in the game, you die in real life), and only one party of savvy adventurers can win. They'll have to spend their time and stats wisely as dungeons promising rare gear float down from the sky - but is a legendary sword worth killing someone for, knowing they'll stay dead forever? - This story is told in third person, past tense.- This is a slow-burn LitRPG that spends a lot of time establishing its setting and characters, because I believe this will make for a better payoff in the end. As such, the Battle Royale doesn't start until chapter 30 or so.- Chapters are anywhere between 800 words and 3000 words long.- Book cover by Vixeona.Cutting to Life is also being posted on SPB and Scribble Hub.Thank you sincerely for reading.
