10 {Sister learning of a new world}

'Damn, that was one of the most relaxing weekend I've had in years'

Currently Dan is driving to the goblin dungeon with Catalina

Although he could tell her about what he is about to show her ahead of time , Dan believes seeing is faster than believing and convincing

" so bro where are we heading

"Didn't I say that already? We are going in the wild where i trained for the last month , just chill for the next five minutes, we are almost there"

Said Dan with an annoyed look on his face , since this was the nth time he was asked the same question.

Anytime he looked at Catalina he saw curiosity spilling like a flood from her eyes.

When they arrived at the location, Dan equipped his gear which leaves the curious Catalina with an astonished look on her face while she looks at the fully equipped Dan.

" wow, daniel, what's that you are wearing, since when do you know how to dress in style"

Catalina asked while looking at he brother dressed in a black cargo pants and black hoodie, she couldn't help but imagine her brother disappearing in darkness when wearing such attire, next she saw him equip a single handed crossbow on his left hand and the crossbow bolts on his back ,a holster on his belt with a hatched attached to it and next to the bolts on his back two more holsters one holding a backup hatchet and the other a hammer.

"Are you here to kill something"

Blurted out Catalina while astonished because of her brothers attire

Without batting an eye Dan replies

"Yes cat, now put on these night goggles and make sure you follow me every step of the way, I'm about to show you how I am able to grow so strong in such a short time."

A normal person might misunderstand what he is about to do , afraid of their lives, but since seeing the hole in the wall, Catalina's hearth couldn't stop beating and at this moment it was getting faster and more excited and she instantly grabbed the night vision goggles a few seconds after Dan said those words.

Dan showed his sister how to manipulate the night vision goggles before entering the underground cave next to the boulder that leads to the goblins dungeon.

On their way Dan continued to observe his sister with his naked eyes for any abnormalities in her reaction or psyche to make sure that she isn't in any danger, while this happened it didn't go unnoticed to Catalina that her brother wasn't wearing any night vision goggles.

"How are you feeling cat?"

"Honestly i don't know,"

"Whether this feeling is fear or excitement"

Said Catalina while holding her right arm on her hearth

" haha , that's most likely your adrenaline running amok, so if id take a guess, i'd say you're excited while fearing the unknown"

Dan laughed out loud while giving his guess, finding it amusing since it reminded him of how he felt the first time he was in a similar situation

The difference was that he wasn't with people that could be trusted with his life in their hands

Observing left and right all Catalina was able to see was green darkness and a light green silhouette of her brother in front of her through the night vision goggles, and that is all she saw for the next couple of meters while walking down the cave tunnel.

Until finally she witnessed the magnificent gate with intricate weird symbols and lines interacting in a weird but beautiful way that was the gate entrance to the goblin instance dungeon witch kept feeding the curious flame burning deep inside her, but what truly surprised he where the two short silhouettes a few meters ahead after she stepped thou the magnificent Gate, as if they appeared out of nowhere .

'What the hell are those sho…..'

Before she could even finish her thought process her eyes followed trough the night vision googles the light green silhouette of her brother that was as fast as the swift wind whom only took a moment to arrive next to the grey short ugly goblins and swing his hatchet in one swift movement witch was followed the next moment with the decapitations of the two short goblins.

Standing next to the two goblin corpses, catalina was looking deeper into the dungeon with curiosity and interest after processing the small amount of world shattering information that her brother just released onto her.

Although the information was hard to handle , with all the proof she witnessed till now, it helped her come to terms with the new reality in front of her.

'First seeing my brother punch a dent in a concrete wall and have no injury , from what I've experienced by punching a wall with a bit of extra strength some skin can easily be peeled off. I can't even fathom what would happen to the hand if a normal person tried to punch such a hole in the wall with all their strength'

'As for the goblin creatures or monster things, we have to kill them in order not to be killed instead and the bonus of the survivor is the material of the opponent in our case it's mainly the monster cores , these rice sized crystal like things that we can absorb which will allow us to increase our strength and the rest of the materials of a monster can be used for many things like forging equipment, medicine and many other ways to use them in helping with strengthening ourselves.'

"So how do I absorb these?"

"sorry cat, but it's not easy to absorb these without learning how and that will take a while to teach"

"So, for this week i will give you some exercises to do that will increase your endurance and allow your body to naturally absorb the spiritual essence in the monster cores, but the procedure will be long and taxing, so be mentally prepared"

"after learning an absorption technique we will continue your training and take it to a different stage"

"And what stage would that be?"

Asked catalina, already wondering what kind of training it would take for her to be able to punch a dent into a wall

"don't worry about that, it's too early to start skipping steps without completing the previous step"

Rolling her eyes at her brother, catalina continues with her question since now they seem to keep popping and rising in her mind, that needs answering

"What about the monster cores, how can they be absorbed?"

"The only way to absorb some energy from these monster cores is to take a warm bath which has a couple of monster cores diluted in it , transforming the warm bath water into energized bath water."

"wow, that doesn't sound so hard"

Not interrupting catalinas input dan continues

"but eve so, this method of absorbing the monster cores isn't efficient since the absorption rate in this method is one-tenth as efficient as to what i am currently able to absorb"

"What do you mean bro?"

"You will understand after making some progress in your strength"

"As for now, would you like to continue the dungeon till the end or…"

Before dan finished the sentence catalina gives her reply witch satisfies dan

"let just leave, seeing these two monster is enough convincing , i just want to start training as soon as possible now"

Catalina has an excited grin while she is saying all this

"Good thinking"

'Following my brother i was wondering where we could train and what this training might contain, I can't even imagine how hard it would be to acquire such strength'

"Dan, where are we training?"

Catalina posed a question to her brother , after all if it isn't in the dungeon than definitely not in some training center, if it was possible to become that strong in a training center, superman might have already been trained.

" we need a quiet place where we won't be interrupted, and i think i found a good place in the outskirts of the city, it's between the mountains and the forest"

"Isn't that a bit too far from the city?"

"Not really , after all you will be living there, and training will be the focus of your whole day, so u better quit your job, also from time to time when i don't supervise your training i will be exploring the forest and mountains in the hopes of finding other dungeons with better resources than that poor goblin dungeon"

"Why do you need other dungeons? Isn't the goblin dungeon a good place to train?"

Catalina was asking as if the window to a new world was opening before her insignificant eyes

"I've already grown strong enough that i can breeze through the goblin dungeon , and the monster cores that they drop are of the low stage quality and i currently require monster cores of the mid stage or high stage quality to absorb , of which cant be found in the goblin dungeon"

"Wow , so you have a template of the strength levels? So how many levels or stages are there and where can I reach?"

"Cat, I am glad that you are taking a lot of interest but just focus on reaching the mid stages, it would be pointless to know about something that you cant reach in you're next few steps"

"for now, know that there are low-stage, mid-stage and high-stage levels to be reached"

After hearing all these answers Catalina's profound understanding started to get its foundations built

With a grin and questioning light in the eyes she asks again

"And at what stage are you my dear brother of mine?"

Patiently with a curious glint in her eyes waiting as if she will receive the answer of the century

"i'm currently at the peak of mid-stage"

"That's why i need to train on stronger monsters of the mid or high stages and acquire better quality monster cores and other ingredients that might be useful to increase my strength"

Explained dan to catalina while feeling like a teacher showing the correct path to his student in the hopes for them to achieve greatness

"So where are you gonna explore first and can I come?"

"For now i'm only thinking about your training schedule, and only after i know that you can keep up with the routine by yourself will i start to explore and search for other dungeons"

"and no you can't join until you're strength and fighting technique are efficient to survive"

"than i guess i'll have to put my all into training"

With that said the siblings continued to drive and talking about their live and sharing stories , something that dan truly missed greatly, since for him it feels like it has been quite a long time since he spent time with his sister, which previously didn't manage to survive the early stage in the apocalypse before she could even grow strong and have a chance at surviving.

If it wasn't for his strong desire to be able to protect those he holds dear into his heart Dan would have probably postponed the training for later and spent the first month back with his family day and night.

Arriving at the agency that assists with the property sales and rentals, Dan got the agency's assistance to rent the farm house that met the requirements that he set.

The lease was for ten years with a clause that it cannot be revoked in the first two years unless he was compensated with ten times the amount he paid for the two years which amounted to 48,000 in cash, multiplying that by ten times is an amount that the owner would definitely find very hard to part with, and any ways Dan only needed the locations for a year the most and a couple of months the least.

The transaction only took one hour, and that's mostly the time it took for the owner of the land to travel from the other part of town.

Acquiring the lease and key , the brother and sister duo depart from the comfort of the guest room of the agency which was meant to entertain their guests and arrive at their new home to check it out.
