“Ngh, mmm”
….
” Stop.....please”
……
“Huwaa! Hah hah”
‘Oh a nightmare I thought for sure those bees were about to sting my butt’
Yu got up from bed and stretched out, packed up his belongings and went to the baths, which he had to pay to use as well
‘Money isn’t a problem now but I will soon find myself penniless if I don’t find a source of income’
An hour later he could be seen walking in the main street, looking left and right
‘Alright so first things first, I need to figure out where I am, how far this place is from the Southern Paradise, and then look for work’
As he walked around he started noting people giving him weird glances, specifically toward his back
‘Hmm? What’s wrong, am I wearing something weird or maybe.. could I have been stung for real?!’
He hastily turned to check his butt, and after seeing nothing there he sighed in relief, then he noticed his makeshift bag
‘Hmm?’ Looking at it again he realized it looked like bed sheets tied together to make a bag, because it was just that
With a scarlet face full of embarrassment he walks into the nearest equipment shop
“Hello young man, how may I help you”
“Hello, I would like a plus sized bag, also I would like a tool belt, for weapons and medicine, a map would be great too, also can you tell me about the common jobs in this city”
“Haha young man, one at a time one at a time, how about I tell you about this city while you chose from the stuff behind you, I’ll get you them map once were done”
“Alright” Yu started to look through the stuff while the old man explained
“Well Denatro city doesn’t have that many jobs available to outsiders right now, you see we don’t lack any man force, and while the influx of travelers is great almost all of them are merchants who don’t need any escort, since the Denatro forest has little to no beasts, though lately they had confirmed a Giant Bee beehive forming in it, but that’s nothing to worry about, if you want to cross to Calico city then you just need to hire a few mercenaries, I’m sure they would be more than happy to oblige for a small fee”
‘Hmm So this city is called Denatro huh, as for those mercenaries I seem to have some recollection of them, though we didn’t have them back at the Southern Paradise I recall they were mentioned quite a few times in the history books’

“Okay, I will take this gray backpack, the white tool belt, and this carving knife”
“Very well young man, here is the map too, that will be eighty-seven bronze”
“That’s too expensive, these stuff are hardly worth sixty bronze”
“Young man Denatro city doesn’t have any beasts nearby so it’s hard to come by materials too often”
“Humph then what are all the merchants doing? Selling melons? Il buy everything for sixty bronze, no more than that”
“Sigh, fine young man, have it your way, sixty bronze it is”
Yu nodded, handed him the money and left, and although he knew the shopkeeper was feeling smug about himself he didn’t care, for he knew nothing of the stuffs cost, he just didn’t want to look rich and attract any attention, laying low was the way to go
‘I’ve no recollection of using and bronze in my mind, either everything is overpriced in the Southern Paradise or this guy’s been giving everything left as a tip’
He needed to get hands on experience to know these stuff, and the best way was to follow someone around to do that, following a merchant would be even better, and his best bet at doing so was to become a mercenary himself
Asking around he found that the mercenaries building, which turned out to be a branch of the much larger Mercenary Union, was located on the third street
‘Mercenary Union? How come I never heard of them? Just how did the space send me…’
Of course the further he was the better, but he was still weirded out as he had actually not seen a single beast inside the city, it might have been the law of the city that forbade people from summoning them but if it wasn’t’… that possibility frightened Yu for it could mean that he had was sent into another world again, the fact that he found nothing he knew on the map didn’t help either
‘No no no, how could that be possible? There is no way I could be sent into two different worlds within the matter of a week, no time aside, how could it be so easy to get sent from one world to the other? No matter how you look at it, it isn’t possible, else people could be seen popping from and into worlds every second, I must have been sent into a very far land’
He rationalized his thoughts and decided not to use the summoning in front of anyone, he could credit his achievements to his physical prowess, that would also keep a lot of people of his back

On his way to the Mercenary Union he bought a half face mask, so only his green eyes were visible
Arriving at the Mercenary Union he saw a small building that looked like a tavern, it seemed ruffed up and worn, but once you’re in you could see that it was a very tidy place, apparently they kept it neat even though they had not fixed the whole building
“Hello sir are you here to make an escort request to Calico or Ravengo city?” A pretty receptionist said to him while smiling brightly
“No I’m here to register as a mercenary” Her eyes lost a little luster when he answered
“I see, well please fill out this forum, you can either use your identification card or you could stay anonymous, either way you will have to provide an alias”
“I don’t want to use an ID; can I not answer these questions too?” Seeing that there were many questions like age, full name, profession, on the forum he started to have second thoughts about joining this organization
The receptionist took the paper away and placed an orb in front of him
“It’s optional, put your hand on this orb here to register yourself”
“Oh, okay” ‘So easy?’
He thought to himself as he put his hands on the orb, he felt a probing sensation but that disappeared pretty fast, and the receptionist pulled it back before placing a pen like item on it
“Okay now choose your alias”
“Alright I’ll go with Summoner”
“That’s already taken”
“Taken? So it is because the holder of the alias is alive?”
“No the alias is held by the first person who uses it forever”
“Oh okay, well let’s go with Exile then”
“Taken”
“Darksider?”
“Taken”
“Unknown”
“Taken”
“Mystery”
“Taken”
“Mystique”
“Taken”
“Villain?”
“Taken”
“Evil”
“Taken”
“Undead”
“Taken”
“Zombie!”
“Taken”
“666”
“Numbers aren’t allowed”
“Tch”
“Dear costumer you must hurry; others are waiting for their turn”
Yu glanced at his back and saw the place empty save for a drunk old man sleeping on one of the tables
“Fine, can I at least add a prefix or suffix”
“Like?”
“Zombie-chan for example”
“Alright”
“Okay then, let’s use Summoner-s-” “Here you go, you can use this card at any of the other Mercenary Union branch to take requests, if you lose it you can reissue it, but it will cost you a lot depending on your grading so you better keep it somewhere safe”
“What? But I didn’t give you a name yet?”
“You just did? Zombie-chan”
“Wha! No I refuse to take Zombie-chan as a name change it”
Suddenly the receptionist frowned deeply before answering him with a grave tone
“Dear costumer every person can only ever have one alias, once it goes into the system one can never change it, attempting to change it or make a new one would be going against the entire Mercenary Union, are you attempting to change your name sir?”
He could feel the eyes of the other receptionists on him, even the old man seemed to lean toward his direction a bit which sent chills down his spine for some unknown reasons
“Humph whatever” He said and grabbed the card rudely then started to walk out the building
“Have a safe journey, Zombie-Chan~” *giggle* *giggle*
The wide smile of the receptionist and the giggles at her side, and especially the shaking shoulders of the “sleeping” old man triggered Yu to no end, but he could only hasten his footsteps to get out of here
Once he was out the old man burst out in laughter, the building seemed to shake from his laughter, he seemed to be in an amused mood
“You seem to be enjoying yourself Old Beggar, is the name so amusing” the receptionist asked
“Haha it suits him very well”
“Hmm I guess he did seem very feminine”
‘And his Yin aura is very apparent’ The Old Beggar thought to himself ‘Hmm I’m looking forward to what legend this young’un would create’
He then suddenly got up and started to walk toward the exit
“Going to Denatro forest?”
“Yah those rascals told me to investigate that spatial crash”
“I heard it came from the South”
The Old Beggar suddenly stopped
“I hope not, or we might be facing another invasion from “them” “
His words continued to trail off while he had already vanished
‘Hmm Zombie-chan was very interesting’ the receptionist didn’t seem to mind the upcoming war though as she thought about the new recruit, he seemed to fit her taste fairly well

Redemption is a fickle thing. Nine detectives and nine serial killers find themselves playing a dangerous survival game of deductions, pretending, and - murder. With your life and alias on the line, what would you give up for a shot at redemption? ... The main premise and kick of KtJ is that it is a guessing game of sorts. 18 high school students of various ages and backgrounds come together and are given aliases, such as "King", "Killer", or as the protagonist is aptly named - "Protagonist". They do not know each others' identities, and what's more - 9 of them are anonymous detectives, and 9 of them are serial killers. The cast is given a list of their names, and a list of the identities of the serial killers and detectives they are being held hostage with, and are forced to interact to guess the identities. The people who are able to connect all identities will get "a special advantage" in the killing game, but it isn't specified what. Alongside this, each cast member is given three secrets they are able to reveal at any point for an advantage in the killing game as well. However, one of these secrets is their name, and revealing that secret will result in a minor "punishment" as well. [COVER ART DONE BY RILIE @kisikils] [Illustrated]

Phantom Storm
"Have you heard, the entire Bonanno crew was brutally murdered!" Exclaimed a youth in his early teens. "What? you're lying, again!" Another similarly aged child responded with crisp denial in his tone. After all, the crew was infamous for their ruthlessness. An eery silence passed between them. Soon enough, the teens' curiosity trumped his ego, and he found himself inquiring in a meek voice. "So...Who did it?" "I heard my father talking about it while he was drunk. Guess what he said?..." The child responded, he was a natural-born storyteller. Listening intently, the other teen urged him on. "It was done by a single person. When the police arrived, the bodies were charred black, likely the work of an electro mage. Most had an arrow or two lodged in their body, and a few were even chopped into neat little slices by a sharp blade." He paused, inhaling sharply. "All the victims had shocked expressions on their faces. As if the enemy was invisible or something. That's why they call that person the Phantom Storm!" concluded the adolescent with an excited glint in his eyes. 2 CHAPTERS PER WEEK (Canada time) [participant in the Royal Road Writathon challenge] -------------------------------------------- Follow Itsuki as he is reincarnated in an unfamiliar world, left to discover where he belongs in such a place. The protagonist will have to work hard for what he gets. - This story is not about a loner, he'll have a few companions, and they will not be useless. - Some romance will be explored but not take away from the story. The main character will not be dense.
