《Stardust Universe》Chapter 1.32 - White - The Record Keeper

It has been about almost a week since we got thrown inside a cell. If it wasn’t for Yumiko’s betrayal, this wouldn’t have happened. Zenith dying and turning into an egg once more just made things slower. Here I am wondering what I should be doing instead of waiting for Zenith to start hatching. It’s not that she’s a burden to me or anything but I just can’t help but to keep an eye on her until she was ready.
Rose was in a cell next to mine while Zenith was kept safely in my arms 24/7. The least thing that Vatherion would do to us was providing us foods and drinks although it is not as fancy as I usually get to eat. It’s one of those types of food where it only given to prisoners. I guess the three of us are considered ‘criminals’ in this case. Although the real criminals is the one that lies on top of the current overtaken throne of Gemhold, Vatherion. According to what he had said to us, he’s planning to revive The Great Crystal Roc. How? We don’t know that yet.
As I kept on watching over Zenith’s egg, I suddenly felt a strong familiar presence. It was the same energy as mine. But I didn’t do any magic at the time considering that the Dragonlord has already placed an anti-magic barrier behind these cells. I tried to look whoever was there but there were nobody at all. There were no footsteps or even feet that was approaching us. But the familiar sensation grows stronger over time as if it was coming toward me.
I got panic for a little bit as I find out that something so familiar to me can be something that I don’t even know what it is. Fear started to embellish me as I looked around trying to see if there’s anyone or anything that was slowly approaching me. I became sweatier as my anxiety started to rise up to an uncontrollable level. It all stopped when I turned my head and being smacked to my face by something small. I thought that someone was throwing something to me but the thing is, it was warm. I tried putting my hands on it as it still continues to stick to my face.
It was the weird sensation that I kept feeling. But I don’t know what it was, it was small. I tried touching it for a little bit and felt the warmness of this unknown thing. Then I felt something even weird,

“Arms? Legs? Is this…a doll?” I tried poking the thing on my face around.
The ‘doll’ then suddenly talked, “That tickles! Recordia giggled as she was being poked by the young boy.”
Then I quickly pulled it away from me and thrown it across the cell.
“What the heck?!”
It had the feature of like any other human would have. Arms, legs, fingers and feet, all of them. Except that, she’s not the size of a human at all. It was as small as my own pocket. But the most partially important difference that it has compared to a human was that it has a wing. A fluttery gleaming beautiful wing.
“What…are you?”
The fluttery little thing scratched its head as it tried to get back up after being thrown away by me.
It then responded, “Recordia had been looking all over for White but Recordia was so small and Recordia got lost after navigating this jail maze. Recordia said that with a sad tone.”
I was a bit dumbfounded to what she was saying. It was like…it was speaking in third person perspective. Is that some sort of mental problem that it had or something?
“Um…hello there…um…what are you doing here?”
It replied back to me as it finally got up and started flapping its wings in excitement, “Recordia flutters excitingly all over White as Recordia said, Recordia has finally found White! Recordia is happy.”
Upon closer inspection, that thing seems to be a girl. So I shouldn’t be calling her an ‘it’. She flies all around me until I suddenly remembered something similar that I felt before this. It was a memory I had when I was walking around with my friends into the Fairy Forest. I soon realize what she was. She was a fairy. She looks like a fairy but I have to make sure first…
“Are you…a fairy?”
“Recordia? Not exactly. Recordia answered the question with ease.” So she says…
“Then what are you…?”
Recordia then replied, “Recordia uses this form so that White can be more familiar with Recordia. Recordia’s actual form is actually a Faerie Dragon. Recordia answers White question as Recordia continues to fly around in glee.”
“A Faerie Dragon, huh…Wait…A dragon?!”
She replied, “Yup. Recordia nodded as Recordia said that.”

After being briefed by Recordia on what she was, I finally found out that she was one of the creations that the dragon inside my body made back in the day. Recordia was made out of pure Infinitum Energy and was given the form of a Faerie Dragon, her original form. She was hibernated by her own master and kept safely hidden from anybody for thousands of years. She actually woke up the moment I obtained my Time Manipulating ability back in high school. The moment I ate that Infinitum crystal was the very moment she began to open her eyes. It took her months of searching. Searching for me because her master currently stays inside my body.
Now she finally found me and decided that she will be sticking alongside me just as she always sticks to her old master. She said that she was a Record Keeper. She writes down and keeps all sorts of records of history and kept it hidden safe inside of her. From past events to even untapped knowledge that only a few would know. Some of them were even kept forbidden by her original master and doesn’t allow me to even know about that. In terms of combat, she said that she’s not really that useful in that kind of stuff.
“Recordia can’t really fight. But Recordia can still use magic to help White with anything he needs in times of out-of-combat. But, Recordia can provide morale support if the master needs it. Recordia said that as Recordia winked back at White.”
“Great…but that’s not really going to help us escape this prison…”
“White, is that Zenith? Recordia pointed to the little egg that was beginning to shake.”
“Zen…” I let out a happy tone as I said that.
Zenith’s egg started to hatch and just like before, she returned back to her original form, lying down on the floor. The egg shells became blankets for her to use as she slowly regains back her energies.
I wiped my forehead and said, “Glad one thing is over…”
“Looks like Zenith are back in one piece. Recordia is glad to find out that The Hellfire is fine.”
“Hellfire?” I asked her back.
But as she was about to answer that, she was interrupted by a voice from the next cell.
“Hey, what’s all the noise…White?” It was Rose who woke up from all the noises we made.
“It’s nothing. Zenith is back and she’s asleep right now.”
“I see. Then, we should start thinking on a plan to get out of this cell and stop Vatherion.” She yawned as she said that.
“That’s just it…I don’t know how to get out of this cell. This cell has an anti-magic barrier all over it. We can’t use our magic…at…all…”
I slowly realized that there was one thing that was over abundantly made out of Infinitum Energy. The very essence that powers magic. Recordia was able to move around in and out of this cell with ease.
“Recordia!” I grabbed her tiny little body.
“What is it, White? You want to help carry Recordia? That would be good because Recordia is getting tired of flapping the wings for 7 whole days. Recordia said that as she stopped flapping the wings.”
“No, Recordia. That’s not what I want. I want you to fly back and find the keys to this cell!”
“But Recordia is getting tired of flying…Recordia said that as Recordia started to run out of energy.” She’s like a lifeless doll.
“Great…you can’t fly now. And we’re running out of time. The Crystal Roc might already be revived at this point…”
“It hasn’t been revived yet, White.” Then suddenly a familiar voice went down the cells.
“Yumiko…what are you doing here?”
“Jeez. No need to get all hostile over me, White. I’m just trying to give you a hand here.”
“A hand?! You killed Zenith. Is that really helping?”
Yumiko shakes her head and said, “I only did that so I can gain Vatherion’s trust. But I’m still not on his side. This is the only way where you and the others can stop Vatherion.”
“What do you mean, Yumiko?”
“Just over a few floors above, lies the Dragon Amulet that Vatherion holds to control his dragon. You’re going to steal it, White.”
“What?”

Cutting to Life: an NPC LitRPG (Battle Royale)
Nikola is an NPC in The World of Wills, a video game where players can feel sensations as if they were truly there. She leads a life of bloodshed and murder - that is, until one day she wakes up sapient. Just as she begins thinking real, non-scripted thoughts and making connections, she and the players in the game are told that if they die in the game, they die in real life - and it's time to get killing. But what of Nikola, the emerging AI consciousness? How does she win in a game that can only end in her being wiped from existence at the end of it all? - Updates Mondays and Fridays. Cutting to Life is a slow-burn LitRPG with a villainous (later anti-hero, or maybe still villainous, haha) female lead. It's told from the perspective of Nikola, an NPC within the World of Wills who's become sapient and is now mysteriously able to play the game as a PC. It's quite light for a LitRPG, but the system and stats become more of a focus later when Nikola herself can access them. The story gradually builds into a Battle Royale where the players' lives are on the line (if you die in the game, you die in real life), and only one party of savvy adventurers can win. They'll have to spend their time and stats wisely as dungeons promising rare gear float down from the sky - but is a legendary sword worth killing someone for, knowing they'll stay dead forever? - This story is told in third person, past tense.- This is a slow-burn LitRPG that spends a lot of time establishing its setting and characters, because I believe this will make for a better payoff in the end. As such, the Battle Royale doesn't start until chapter 30 or so.- Chapters are anywhere between 800 words and 3000 words long.- Book cover by Vixeona.Cutting to Life is also being posted on SPB and Scribble Hub.Thank you sincerely for reading.
