《Stardust Universe》Chapter 1.36 - White - VS Vatherion

Before I even realize it, I was already seeing whiteness. Pure white and nothing else. I was able to move my body. It wasn’t an autonomous dream. There was floor, I was able to touch it, walk over it and even lie down on it. It was almost like the world inside a Dimensional Bag. The only time I was able to experience this kind of world was when Mei brought me into her library using her ancient-type ability. I honestly don’t know where I am. I tried walking around for minutes until I sat down in one place.
As I let out a sigh, an authoritative voice can be heard ringing inside my head. I think it was speaking with me but I couldn’t understand a single word it says. To me, it was all gibberish.
It was until the voice took on a different language where I finally understood it, “At last...We’ve finally met.”
I couldn’t see anyone was talking to me, “Who are you? Where are you?”
“The worries inside your heart had finally created a reaction that I have been waiting for all these years.” The faceless voice was talking in cryptic words. “Love and devotion…these are the things that has affected your heart for the past few months. The feeling of…agitation, whether through worry…or excitement…but mostly…it represents worry about something affecting a loved one.”
“Loved one…?” I suddenly had flashes of the people I’ve met.
My family…My friends…I’ve scaled the walls of life together with them…but until now…I only realized until now that instead of being loved by others…I should look back at them and give the same thing as well…With that being said, the final flashes I received was of a lovely small white bird. It might have no relation to anyone but I can already tell what that was. It wasn’t really a bird. It was something else. Something that is important to me. But, until then…
“Use that power to protect the ones you love. Even if it means destroying your own self…” The authoritative voice begins to slowly fade out as it finishes its sentences.
Before I realize it, my mind went blank.
-
“I’ll write my own story!” Those are the words I shouted to Vatherion.
Somehow, I was in deep consciousness just a few seconds ago. I’ve come into contact with a faceless voice. It was probably the dragon that I’ve inherited. This all happens because I ate that crystal. It only happens because of my worries…of not being able to help. I don’t know what else I could do, I already ran out of energy after using it against The Great Crystal Roc. But after hearing those words of encouragement, I think that someone decided that it was time for me to use the untapped power that has been hidden until now…Well then…I’ll be borrowing just a little bit of it for now.

“Taloncryst! Ravage the boy!” Vatherion ordered the Elder Dragon.
The dragon pounced on me and held me down on the floor with its fang. But it quickly jumped back as it suddenly felt a sudden burst of energy coming from me. I did said that I was only borrowing a little bit…it wasn’t perfect…but it is what it is.
“What…is that?” Vatherion was surprised.
Vatherion was shocked over something. He was shocked on the development that I had. Partially grey auras were all over me. A single skeletal structure was on my back. It was flapping as if it was natural to me.
“What is that abomination on your back, supposed to be?!” Vatherion seeks for an answer to the weird skeletal structure on my back.
I looked at it and replied, “This? Quite disappointing to hear that from an expert of dragons…” I turned my head to him and said, “Can’t you tell what it is? This is the bone structure of a dragon wing!”
“D…dragons?!” Vatherion grew furious. “So you are more than just a crystal eater. You are also part dragon, now?”
“I’m not saying I’m part dragon…I’m only borrowing it from some king that I don’t even know…”
“King?”
“Less talk, more fighting, Dragonlord.” My single bone wing flaps itself as I made a long jump toward Taloncryst.
I jumped on its back and grabbed onto the elder dragon scales with my right hand. My right hand, with what seems to also grow a skeletal arm that covers my hand like a glove, went deep inside the Elder Dragon’s skin. Taloncryst roared in pain as it struggles to throw me away. The dragon’s blood splattered partially on my face and clothing as I continued to ‘stab’ the dragon with my sharp bone ‘hand’ repeatedly.
Taloncryst decided to use its wings and flew up into the sky. I quickly dropped off the dragon as it was about to leave the ground, leaving both me and Vatherion face to face. Vatherion immediately swings his sword to me as I dropped down. I blocked his swing with my right arm.
“Don’t tell me…” Vatherion tries to think, “That’s the bone structure of a dragon arm!”
“Yeah…Looks like it now serves as some sort of armour for my arm.”
It wasn’t a fully-fledged armour as the dragon bone on my arm only reaches to my elbow. The single wing and the claw hand was the only bone structure on me while a faint fiery aura was all over me.

The two of us pulled back as Taloncryst returns from the sky and blows out a raging burning flame to us.
“Taloncryst!”
“The Elder Dragon is a free beast. It is not to be controlled by anyone. Whether if it’s a Dragonlord or me. Taloncryst is not a slave!”
Time was paused as I tried to make my way to Vatherion but then the time moved back as soon as I was to make my move on him. Looks like my Time Manipulation didn’t even have an upgrade even after borrowing a little bit of energy. That probably goes the same to my Space Manipulation ability.
Vatherion quickly countered my attack with a chaotic energy ball that he casted from his other hand. I wasn’t able to dodge it as I underestimated my own upgrade. I was thrown off metres away from him thanks to that energy ball. Taloncryst makes another round as it bellows out a barrage of flaming balls to the crater.
I looked at the fallen Zenith and Rose. Noticing that they were still there, I put my bet on both of my ancient ability to transport both of them to a save place. It only resulted with me being hit by a single fire ball from Taloncryst. Things didn’t go as well for Vatherion however, as he was embellished by the barrage.
“Curse you, dragon!!!” Vatherion’s armour pieces begin to shatter one by one.
Thankfully, I was able to stand up from that single fire ball. I waited for Taloncryst to make its next round and jumped on top of it. Once again, I stabbed the insides of Taloncryst. This time, it crashed landed down to the craters. As I regained my consciousness, I saw Vatherion was slowly making his way to me.
I quickly got up and went to him. Immediately, I stole his Chaos Sword of Dragon Control off of his hand. I made a quick leg sweep to him as I stole the sword. The Dragonlord fell down to the floor. As it tries to get back up, his very own sword was at his throat.
“It’s over Vatherion. Give it up.”
“Are you forgetting something?” He brought out The Chaos Dragon Amulet and used it to force The Elder Dragon to stand back up. “This is my victory! I will eliminate all of the dragons in this world! Even if it means using their own power against them!”
I swung back the sword to my back and immediately build momentum to throw it to him. Vatherion notices it but I deceived him and blinked the sword to a different location. It didn’t hit Vatherion. It hit the amulet. As both of the chaotic artifacts come into contact with each other, a chaotic reaction begins to erupt. Destroying both of the items into pieces.
“No! This can’t be! You’ve destroyed the only thing that will end the dragon! You’ll pay for this!” Vatherion begins to charge another chaos energy ball.
But then fate had another plan for him, Taloncryst stood behind him and for the first time ever directly spoke to us, “Enough is enough, Dragonlord…The boy is not yours for the taking.”
Vatherion swallows his saliva as fears started to strike all over his body. He looked behind only to have his ear be ransacked by The Elder Dragon’s roar. The Elder Dragon flies up and grabbed Vatherion with its claw. Taloncryst flies away together with Vatherion.
“Wha…what are you doing?! Where are you taking me?!”
“I have something else for you, Vatherion…In the meantime…” The Elder Dragon looked at me and said, “Thank you for releasing me from the shackles of The Dragonlord, boy. May The Infinite continue to help you in your future endeavors!” The Elder Dragon said that as it flies away into the horizon.
The dragon bones on my arm and back begins to disintegrate while the faint aura fades away as I kneeled down in exhaustion. I let out a sigh of relief as I slowly went down on my stomach with my face facing two silhouettes running towards me. I closed my eyes as I assured myself who it was.

Thief of Time
[Participant in the Royal Road Writathon challenge] Book 1: The Legend of Tot Synopsis: Claud Primus, a self-declared master thief, has a simple goal. To live forever. It's a rather easy task, for miraculous objects called lifestones are able to extend one's lifespan. These lifestones are best found in the treasuries of nobles, lovely resorts that Claud pays a visit to every so often. Unfortunately, one of those nightly visits go awry, and Claud is forced to escape with just a single lifestone and a box in hand. Normally, that's when things die down. The guards yawn, the gates close, and the night continues. But this time, the night isn't that forgiving. A dozen schemes result in the murder of someone important, and with a convenient scapegoat — Claud — at hand, it doesn't take long for him to be framed as a heinous criminal, wanted for the indirect murder of someone high up...and it just gets worse from there. Book 2: The Moon Lords' Rise Synopsis: As ordered chaos sweeps across Licencia, Claud leaves for Julan Barony, intent on making some profits there. Accompanied by the erstwhile heiress of Julan, a fellow member of the Moon Lords, the two plot against the barony's wealth...as well as a promise to bring about its downfall. Meanwhile, back home, the Moon Lords have busied themselves with digesting their gains. Eyes, however, are beginning to turn to this proverbial fish in a small pond. The fishermen are coming. When they cast their hook, what will Dia and the others do? Book 3: Murders under the Moons Synopsis: In the sleepy town of Nachtville, where Claud and Lily are forced to stop at, a set of nasty murders occurs. Victims scream out in fright, before a spear falls from the sky to end their suffering. Cowed and cautious, the master thief and his partner slink in the shadows, their objective that of home... A new task, however, has fallen on Dia. With a trusty helper at her side, she has to set off towards Nachtville itself, to solve the mystery Claud had abandoned. Faced with an enemy whose sole skillset is geared towards killing, how will they succeed? And what dark secrets will they find? Book 4: In the Dark of the Moons Synopsis: The year has ended. The four months of the full moons will soon be followed by two months of the new moons. Duke Istrel's ascension is around the corner. Amidst this political upheaval, Count Nightfall, Licencia's strongest defender, has been called away. The Moon Lords' largest task yet — to protect Licencia in the absence of its ruler — has begun. And yet, trouble is unrelenting. A distinguished personage, one that Claud fears, has been found dead in the county, his brains dug out and his body disemboweled. The inquisitors of the White Church have been dispatched to investigate and apprehend the murderer...as well as the person behind this puppet. Tormented by a call to fight, Claud directs his eyes out of the city, looking for the puppetmaster. Skulking in the shadows, the master thief will soon confront his greatest foe yet. A foe just like him. Book 5: Moonlit Tides and Darkened Seas Synopsis: A new era has begun. For the privileged, the sands of time dribble away for every passing moment, counting down to the arrival of a entity of mythical proportions. The night now harbours shadows and fog, and operatives of the Moons and the Dark clash in shadow. Claud, as usual, is investigating a spate of nasty disappearances in the city, but little does he know what these disappearances truly mean. And yet, a tide is coming. When it finally breaks, what will he do? Book 6: Secrets in Shadow Synopsis: The person behind a strike that would enter the annals of history flees his home, bringing with him the person closest to his heart into a new land and into a new world. Having left Istrel for the first time in his life, the two of them attempt to settle down in foreign lands, only to be caught in the middle of hostilities between two mighty powers grappling for dominion. Yet, none of that has anything to do with him. Following his desires, Claud eventually makes his way to the fabled Celestia Ruins, a fragment of another world. Bearing witness to truths he cannot yet comprehend, he returns from his exploration, a small break away from the machinations of destiny. One thing, however, is for certain. Destiny will not wait for him. Book 7: Reddest Rage Synopsis: Destiny churns on, heedless of mortal machinations, and Claud watches as the battlegrounds between the Moons and the Dark are drawn up. With the forces of the great Dark occupying Lostfon, Claud comes to a startling realisation — that he may have very well be a murderer of heinous proportions. Grappling with that realisation, he struggles to prepare for his Second Tutorial... Back in Istrel, Dia finds herself confronted with a perennial truth. Even in a time of writhing destiny, the machinations between nobles never cease to end — and unfortunately for her, the group once known as the Moon Lords are forced into dealing with a petty squabble between two counts. What they didn't account for, however, was the startling discovery they would soon make... And the shadow of the Red God's Holy Son behind it all. Book 8: Darkness Descends Synopsis: Nightmares haunt the horizon as Claud sinks and awakens from a seeming dream. What was once illusory begins to play out before him, in a way he cannot imagine. Dia, forced to wield arms, begins and ends a battle that opens her eyes to the vast dangers that lurk in this sundered world. Under the banner of humanity and divinity, she beholds the silent, forgotten protectors of Orb...but there is no forgetting the battle between the divinities. The Dark descends, the Moons writhe, and the horns of war blow once more. But this is not their battle. Not yet. Book 9: Moons Muster Synopsis: As more and more events fall into place, Claud finds himself desperate. Not for himself, but for the person who has turned into his world. Armed with the knowledge of a certain future, he approaches the only person that could possibly help him in his time of need, trading information for a promise of help. With that as solace, he returns to the grim task of understanding and seeking, revisiting an ancient, shattered fragment of another world...unleashing changes that he never knew was possible. Back in Istrel, Dia and the others must now navigate around a familiar spirit, who seeks to investigate the death of his master's Bearer. With them as prime suspects, the Seekers of Life must move carefully...but the Coloured Gods are not the only divinities eyeing them closely. The Moons, bristling from repeated defeats, are looking for new recruits, and the Seekers of Life are prime cannon fodder. Above all, destiny marches on, the unfeeling clock a warning to all. The Trial of Aeons will soon arrive. Book 10: Destiny Divine Synopsis: ??? Release frequency: one every few days or something, I guess.
