《Child of Terra》Chapter 3- The Play Room

What came after such an episode of animalistic tendencies startled little Nox and his friends. No. It was not the fact that they were cleaned up after such ferocity towards their food, but, "Play?" asked Nox, whose ears perked up at the word whilst his head tilted towards his right shoulder.
"Yes, Nox," spoke the Ageless softly as he lifted the boy-child up from his high chair, and placed upon the Shadowed Marble at his feet, "You, Mia, and Maya are allowed to go play, as it is not nearly time for bed just yet."
"Really?" His eyes widened greatly at this statement, whilst his nine, small tails swished happily across the surface of the floor. Whereas the Kitsune twins soon scampered over to his person, and were pulling him away as his father simply chuckled and waved at their passing.
"Come on, Nox," mewed Mia, of whom pulled on the tuffs of kit-fur still attached to his body.
"Yeah, Uncle God said we can play, so come on," chimed in Maya who, with her sister, practically dragged the boy-child out the doors of the dining hall. Whereupon they noted a Chosen was waiting for their person just as the doors shut behind themselves.
"Okay, okay," his own voice had grown excited at the permission to play for a time, and scampered on ahead of the twins and their chosen guardian for the evening. This action caused the pair to scamper on after his small self, which appeared more like they were hopping lightly down the hallway and towards one of the rooms designated as a play pen for the boy-child and his friends. Of which was marked by colourful paints upon a brass door.
This, of course, was keyed to the child, the Chosen, and the parents, as there had been many "incidents" which involved the screaming and replacing of servants who desired to clean such a place. For the room itself was magickal, and acted as a conduit for the children's own imagination. However, once the door opened to reveal such a place, it was nothing more than a large room with many bright and cheerful colours. All around the room were a few rugs with many pictures that they could use to pretend were real, as well as a few stuffed animals that were large enough to climb atop. As well as shelves upon shelves of miscellaneous toys all along the walls, which could be brought down with a simple thought if they desired such a thing.

In the far right corner was a small pit with soft padding of fur and fluff which were very worn and tattered. This was due to the fact that the children who played within the pit used such a thing to climb out or hang onto during such incursions. As to what was in the pit? Simple, but colourful, balls of malleable materials which could be easily ingested without any detrimental affects to their health. For they were still children, and had been teething for quite some time.
Whereas in the left corner was something of a small house by adult standards, but was quite large to the trio. The design for such a place was mirrored to be a forest, so the house was a "tree-house", and yes, it was elevated off the ground a few metres. The way to enter such a place was by way of climbing upon the small ledges upon the wall, as well as the rope bridges attached to the platform in the centre of the room.
Of which they danced around gaily as they yipped and barked at one another for a time before leaping into the ball pit. Whereupon they did gnaw on the malleable material for a time before tossing it at one another with joy filled grins plastered upon their features. This would continue for a short time until Nox climbed out and pounced on top of Maya. Which began a game of wrestling between the trio, whilst an outsider would simply view it as three young kits play-fighting. They would be correct in this, but they each did not use their teeth, as they had learned long ago that such tools hurt quite a lot more than simple wrestling matches.
After such contests, where Nox proclaimed himself the winner, whilst the twins boasted that they were, in fact, the champions, the trio scampered over to the ledges in order to climb into the tree house. However, it was here that the imaginations of the children soared, in turn this caused that which was within the room to activate, transforming the world around them into a rocky cliff in the bright light of the faux day-star with the trio appearing much older than they already were.
The outerwear of these three were ones that were used for those who were called "Mountain Climbers", but without the heavy packs and rope. Instead, they simply had the harnesses about their persons, and began with Nox holding out his right paw towards the twins. "Come on," he spoke with a rough voice full of excitement as his nine tails, which had become one, swayed quickly, "We're almost there. So grab my paw and I'll bring you up."

"Okay," called out Maya, who wore a tight fitting, yellow outfit which was mirrored by Mia's pink one and Nox's silver. She then grasped his paw and arm, and was slowly hoisted up as Mia shivered at being so "high up".
"Too high," she muttered, staring up at the other two with tear-filled eyes.
"Come on, Mia," the pair above her called out, holding out their own paws in order to help her up. To which she hesitated for a time before tentatively grasping their limbs, and was pulled up. Whereupon she did cling to Nox whilst shivering as her sister pouted, and the male did not know how to react beyond lightly patting her back.
"There, there," he spoke softly, then lightly pushed her away and pointed towards the large house a dozen, or so, metres above their person. However, they still needed to traverse the many "treacherous" ledges in order to reach such a place. "Come on," the hybrid grinned at her person, "I'll get you some of those cookies you like so much when we get there."
This caused the other to brighten up, which in turn was echoed by her more adventurous sister, what with their ears perking up as soon as this was spoken aloud. "Really?" they asked with large, round eyes.
"Yup," his left paw scratched at his neck, then looked away from the pair for a moment. Where his eyes wandered to, by the by, was towards the Chosen who was set to watch their persons as they played. Of whom then sighed and left to retrieve a small plate of raspberry jam filled biscuits that the trio seemed enamoured with. Which then caused him to turn back towards the other two and grin, "There'll be some when we get there. So we just have to hurry and-"
"Come on, Nox," called out Mia who was already halfway to the little house, and peered over the side of the ledge she was on with large, excited eyes. Whereas her own tail, which was normally three, but shrank into one during this game of theirs, swished quickly over the other side, "You too, Maya," and vanished in order to resume climbing.
"You know," began Maya who was now being hoisted up towards the next ledge by his person, "she'll do anything for those cookies you have, right?"
"Eh," shrugged the male as he climbed onto another ledge and reached down to help her person up once more, "I know, which always surprises me that she can do so much with only a little incentive, but any other time she's scared." This led to the both of them staying quiet as they continued onwards, until they met a very impatient Mia. Of who sat in front of the door with her arms cross, and a pout upon her features.
Yes. The other two laughed at her person, but only due to the fact that Nox was the only person keyed to the house. Which meant no one else was allowed within the interior without his presence. Though, of course, the Ageless could enter it on a whim, but has never needed to before.
In any case, the moment they entered the small house, that which was within the room had shut off, and the illusions which made everything become different to their senses reverted back to their original settings. Which meant that they were no longer adults, but small kits the moment they entered the first room. Whereupon they were met with the warm scent of sweet biscuits upon a large, blue plate within the centre of the room. There, they yipped at one another happily, ran towards the treats, and happily devoured every morsel with contented looks about their features.

The Yes-Mage
Plenty of people have stopped and asked what it'd be like to simply have everything, and Sylvain Henry Camille Johansson was no different. He was a man who had a lot of things going on, with a name that'd make a supervillain blush and a family who'd make even the useless of their rank into someone important. It was a shame, then, that he was slapped with a dreadfully unfortunate condition that kept him from living up to any of those already low expectations. Stuck living a life where magic is everywhere while he's left working with nothing more than a moderate intellect, a little bit of whatever influence he could get from his family, and a lifetime's practice at making himself the ideal subordinate for his bosses' boss, Vane was still beating the odds and slowly working his way up in the world. When the cunning yes-man finally got a chance to really make a name for himself, he leapt at the offer, taking his first real step onto a road he knew he was always meant to walk. His goal? Nothing less than finding out why he and too many other unfortunate souls are barred from the wonderful world of the higher energies, and with any luck, fixing it. Of course, life has a knack for interfering in even the humblest of plans, and Vane's lofty ideals were anything but humble; he was practically a walking bullseye for disaster. The funny thing about catastrophe, though, is that nobody can ever say what form it's going to take. That’s why, when it all went wrong for Vane, he'd gotten everything he'd ever wanted foisted onto him, and Everything else, too. Watch as a man so used to saying 'yes' to everyone above him finds himself stuck with the power to make reality itself say it back.
