《A Curious World》Chapter 9: The D*sn*yland Academy

“I’ve terribly sorry young master, the Madam left the house in the morning and has yet to return.”
“That’s no problem, you may continue doing your tasks.”
That’s unfortunate, I wanted to have some prior knowledge before going in. There shouldn’t be much trouble there though, I’ve heard that the previous Qiu Xue was quite the introvert, he shouldn’t have much friends.
“Maybe I’ll get to pass my days there quietly.”, I say in a cheerful mood.
Thinking back, that’s a flag, right? That’s definitely a flag. Why did I think such a thing…
I finish up my morning meditation before heading to the Academy. How do I get there? On Carriage of course! Be honest, everyone has wanted to have servants dress them in the morning and escorted up the carriage before heading to school at least once in their lives.
I check on my body’s state before heading into the Academy, I’m a Rank 3 Mage Apprentice now, an upgrade to the Rank 2 I was when I got this body. I’ve only managed to learn 2 apprentice spells yesterday, however, with the other 3 being left untouched. Apprentice spells are relatively easy to learn, since they have very simple formulas. It does take some time to be able to master them though.
I know naught of what the previous owner used for apprentice spells, but I have no way to find out. Casting a spell is second nature once memorised, and even if Qiu Xue had lost his memories, he should recall them based on his mental awareness, or soul strength. I’m not Qiu Xue though.
I arrive at the Academy. The gates look familiar… Oh wait…. It can’t be…
W-Wait, wait wait wait wait JUST A MINUTE!!!!
THAT’S JUST D*SN*YLAND AIN’T IT?
I compose myself at the uncanny resemblance. It bears a similar appearance to the castle resort in my previous life, but there are small differences. It certainly doesn’t help that there’re a counter much like the ticketing counters I see at the resort.

“Young master, you look awfully pale, are you alright?”, Leticia asks me.
“Ahem, it’s nothing, I just choked on my saliva.”, I answer calmly.
“Well then, we’ll be leaving you here then, have a good day.”, the black-haired maid answers as she does a curtsy.
I nod and turn to go in.
I show the academy pass and the guard lets me in.
I head to the Class for year 2 students. The classroom seems like a lecture hall rather than a classroom, there’s approximately 20-30 other students here. I was told that this was a standard apprentice class for nobles, most of the ranks may be varied but we’re all apprentices here.
I can’t tell any of their Ranks, of course, as apprentices we have only a faint hint of mana on us, one that could be found in a normal human with high magical talent as well. Only when we decide to ready our mana to cast a spell can our Ranks be discerned.
No one turns to look at me when I enter, class isn’t due to start for another 30 minutes. Most of the students are busy talking amongst themselves. I choose a discreet seat in the upper right corner, giving me a good vantage point to observe the other nobles.
I can’t possibly know each of them well, so I’ll focus on the more prominent ones. Those the conversations revolve around.
First off, we have a blonde haired noble, she seems important enough, there’re quite a few guys and a girl gathered around her. She seems like she’s just watching monkeys prance around to get her attention, quite the superiority complex on this one here.
We have an average looking brown-haired boy, who’s helping a few of his male students with their studies it seems. He’s smiling quite gently, the ones he's helping seem grateful for the help too.

There’s a flashy looking noble with tons of females surrounding him. He’s handsome, but not THAT handsome. I’ll say he’s a Prince of some kind…
There’s a normal looking girls’ group as well, the trio seem rather close, there’s no one particularly dominating the conversation. There're the typical noble girls if there was a template.
Oh, here’s a classic, there’s the Jock looking guy, he’s buff and seems to be bragging about the magic artefact he has on his hand. The others are flattering him with fear written all over their faces.
Ah shit, I met eyes with him. He stared at me for a moment, before returning to his conversation like nothing happened.
Hmmm, doesn’t help that I still don’t know their noble houses or identities….I can’t just casually ask for their names too, who doesn’t remember the more prominent members of the class at the very least, especially as a noble?
Wait, there is a way…

The War Wolves
If you’re good at something, never do it for free. That’s what Ludgar’s uncle taught him. Sellswording isn’t the most glamorous life, but it pays well if you’re good at it. Interesting as well, if you ignore the very probable possibility of a swift, sticky end at the hands of pointy things. When the mercenary lifestyle grows incompatible with the Kingdom of Evandis, he and his merry band of misfits set off west to seek those with a better proclivity for warfare and with much deeper pockets. At his side: a wandering barbarian who teeters on the edge of savagery, a girl who would have a heart of gold if she didn’t pawn it off to the nearest fence, a wannabe knight who is absolutely overcompensating for something, and the last person in the universe who should be anywhere close to magic. But, as most mercenaries find, the right decisions are quite an expensive luxury, and the wrong ones happen to pay very well. Then again, what are the value of morals to a hungry wolf?

The Mob in His Novel
Through his hard work, Arthur Bennett has achieved what he thought was the pinnacle of life: wealth, prestige, and power. However, achieving those came with a price; he lost everything and everyone he loved. One day, out of boredom, he mindlessly wrote a fantasy novel filled with numerous clichés and superfluous conflicts. However, he never imagined he would be reincarnated into that world after his death. No, not as the protagonist, not even as an important supporting character, but instead, he became a mob in his novel. Will Arthur use his abilities and knowledge as the author to make the right decisions and make it through the end, despite the fact that there was a greater, more powerful threat that he was unaware of even as the author? ==========-I will also be posting it on Webnovel, Scribblehub, and Tapas (TBA) under the same name
