《How I Slayed A Dragon》Chapter 40

(Sep 16)
After the two assassins were caught and dead third assassin was buried, Mona told me to go back to sleep and get some rest.
“Back to sleep? After everything that happened?”
“Yea. It been a long night and I’m sure you haven’t been sleeping properly lately. Get some rest, I’ll keep watch over these two so they don’t run away (referring to the two captured assassins).
Your family is also asleep so when you guys wake up, you and I can explain to them what happened, and we can head back to the city in the morning.”
My wife and Gabi were indeed still asleep despite the battle that commenced last night due to the sleeping spell that one of the assassins casted before everything took place.
I thanked Mona and headed back into my house to get some rest. I was very tired as she had stated.
Sven also headed off to his house and to get some shut eye as well, he had helped me this entire time and I was very thankful to him.
Back inside of my house, I took a quick glance around and the house was a mess. There were many holes in the walls from the battle and half the things in our house was smashed apart and broken.
I sighed and headed back to bed next to my wife to go to sleep and decided that I would deal with all this in the morning.
I fell asleep instantly.
.
After a couple hours, the sun rose and it was morning so I woke up like usual and found my wife and Gabi was still asleep.
The sleeping spell must’ve been more effective than I had expected and simply slapping her face or pouring water on her won’t wake her up. I would have to wait until the spell runs out.
Suddenly, I came up with an idea. What if I manipulated my wife’s inner chakra to try and dispel the sleeping spell that was placed on her?
When I first thought of that idea, I felt like a genius. I knew it was possible, because magic spells are done by manipulating magic in a certain way to perform spell outputs so it should be possible to reverse it and undo a spell by manipulating magic in the opposite way.

However, reversing a spell is harder than actually performing a spell.
Casting a fireball spell is quite easy once you know how to do it, it’s a spell learnt by C ranked people but in order to dispel a simple spell like fireball, it would take at least an A ranked wizard who specialized in that certain type of magic.
It’s incredible difficult but if you manage to analyze the magic flow, reverse and dispel it, you can completely erase an entire spell or undo certain curses which are sometimes incurable by normal means.
But for me, with my dragon abilities I can see magic visually and I am more sensitive to magic, so it’ll be easier for me to analyze and attempt to manipulate magic to how I desire.
Plus the sleeping spell that was placed on my wife was quite simply, so it shouldn’t be too hard for me to try and reverse it.
I hoisted my wife onto her butt and took off her shirt and bra.
It would be easier to manipulate her magic if I was able to touch her body without the restriction of clothing.
This isn’t perverted or I wasn’t taking advantage of anything, I was only doing this because it would make things easier! Also, I’m married to her and we did it many times already, recently even, so there’s no reason for me to try anything weird besides to undo the spell.
I closed my eyes, hugged her body from behind and placed my arms on her chest as I felt the flow of magic on the tips of my fingers, it felt like I was putting my hands in a gentle river and slowly I was able to gain a little control over her chakra.
I could feel the sleeping spell that was placed on her, slowly weakening.
Imagine a ball of yarn, tangled, and mixed together. Trying to dispel a magic spell is like trying to untangle a ball of yarn, but a lot harder, and as you continue doing it, you can slowly see it become looser and become less of a mess.

After 15 minutes passed, I was sweating, and I was starting to get frustrated at how slow my progress was.
All of a sudden, my bedroom door opened and Mona walked in.
“Yo Anthony, you awake ye- oh. Oh... Uh… Are you guys doing it so early in the morning…?
Well, let me know when you guys… finish… I will just… wait outside… “
It seemed like Mona had misunderstood something… I was still concentrated on the process of dispelling the spell, so I ignored her, but I am so embarrassed now.
I wasn’t doing anything weird! Although I guess from a outsiders view it does look very weird… imagine a dude hugging a sleeping shirtless woman from behind with her on his lap…
And Mona saw this so… She… she thought that we were… it’s all a misunderstanding!
As she left my room she mumbled,
“ya should’ve fcking locked the door… making things awkward for me too…”
After a bit, I “finished” and the spell on my wife was undone.
I let my wife wake up herself and I left my room to wash off my sweat where I saw Mona drinking tea in my destroyed living room with the two unconscious tied up assassins next to her.
That was also when I had realized the situation and the misunderstanding…
I desperately tried to explain to her what I was doing but she ignored me as she continued to sip on her tea.
The sound of her slurping her tea as I was frantically clear up the misunderstanding gives me PTSD.
Mona now thinks that I’m a degenerate who takes advantage of my wife when she’s asleep….
.
My wife soon exited her room and she told me she was dizzy and lightheaded.
When she saw the state our house was in, she nearly fainted.
I told her what happened last night with the assassins and she surprisingly took it quite well, but then she asked,
“But why… why would assassins come after us? What did we do? Anthony…? You have any idea?"
Mona spoke up.
“They’re spies from another city that we’re on the verge of war with and they think your husband was a threat due to his special dragon powers, so they tried to kill him and his family.”
She literally exposed everything. Well, I was also planning on telling my wife anyways so that makes things easier.
My wife was silent for a second, as if she was processing the information and then she started getting mad at me for not telling her about this.
“Do you not trust me? How could you not tell me?? Things went well, but what if things didn’t go so well and what if I got hurt??? Or worse, what if Gabi got hurt????”
“I know… I was planning on telling you eventually. I won’t even give the excuse of not wanting you to worry, the plan simply wouldn’t have worked as well if you knew.”
My wife sighed and forgave me, that’s what I love about her so much. She’s so understanding and smart.
As my wholesome moment with my wife was happening, Mona cleared her throat to get our attention.
“Well, it’s nice and all you get along well with your wife and do all sorts of… dirty things together… but I’m quite busy. There are lots of things to do in the city, I need to head back immediately, are you gonna come back with me or not?”
Yes.
I told my wife that she should move with me to the city. There, her and Gabi will be safer and live a smoother life with my support.
This time, my wife couldn’t refuse after knowing the truth.
She told me she was going to write a letter to a friend and then she would pack up to leave for the city.
After packing up our clothing and belongings, we started our trip back to city by carriage.
