《Garden of Thorns *Lit RPG*》V2 Ch7.9 : Vizel's Bodyguard work?
Vizel was following Cindy Holloway through the portal with her own team of Hunters. So this is what a celebrity was like? They had power to hire Hunters as their bodyguards? Cindy Holloway was streaming it on her social media. A live recording, Vizel did not even have to do much as everyone pretty much had their own roles to play here. All he was doing was making sure that the camera man wasn't in trouble. They were standing in a mountain area where sound was bouncing around easily.
Going into a D-Rank dungeon as Cindy was beginning her singing. Vizel was unsure of what to make of this? A performance inside a dungeon? Would that not be too risky? Her music was being controlled by the rune staff in her hand that was playing the melodies. Granting buffs to allies, increasing will power so they don't break from any attacks.
Just facing demon cultists. Something that Vizel wasn't worried about, the others seem to be able to handle it by using magic, swords and guns. This magic stuff was very convenient, if only Azteris had this sort of power. The demon cultists were wearing sacks over their head, wielding bladed weapons. Chanting and mumbling for the god that they serve. Cindy was at the back, she was just singing her songs which Vizel found it difficult to understand.
Was this something that these people do for fun? Or was it just... Noise that was soothing to the ears? Vizel didn't have music back in Azteris. Only gunfire and sirens. The Suicide Division marching to their deaths, and now here he was. In another world, hearing songs in front of him. It felt like a dream, one so vivid and one that he may not want to wake up from.
The Hunters who were part of this excursion were capable and they were still singing. Some of them were providing back up vocals as they fired their guns. It was an odd line up. When the battle was over, Vizel just made sure they got potions for their HP and MP. Focusing on making sure that they were comfortable.
"Thanks, Vizel. So how'd you like my music?"
"I don't know much about music." Vizel answered as he focused on starting a fire. Lighting it up with some basic fire magic. The others turned to him.
"You don't listen to music?"
"Where I came from? Only sounds I've heard was gunfire and soldiers marching to their deaths." Vizel's grim remark had the others in silence, seeing him season the meats that he had prepared himself earlier.
"I'm sorry."
"What's there to be sorry about? You just asked a question and I answered it." Vizel said as he turned to a Hunter.
"What's the boss of this dungeon?"
"It's a Demon Lord. We just found out because some of the demon cultists dropped this." Vizel looked into the words. A Demon Lord known as Mikava. A loud roar was heard as Vizel put on his gear. Then readying the odachi, abandoning his shield in favor of a swordsmanship he had learned from the other Vizel. They were all enjoying their food but Vizel was cleaning his blade. Some light maintenance.
"Don't eat too much. I think we've gotten the demon lord's attention. Cindy looked at her chat box as people were sending emojis over and all sorts of messages.
DMan2051: Oh who's that?
Checker151: Wow, look at his weapon. That's a huge blade!
JenniGirl200: He's quite the looker! Is he a new member of your group?
"Oh no! He's not a new member. He's just a bodyguard that the Association Chairman had arranged for me! Isn't he cool?" Vizel finished the maintenance over Redemption Zero Kai.
"Miss Holloway. We may need to evacuate. The Demon Lord's quite strong."
"I guess we'll have to do that won't we? We're not strong enough to face it."
Sheathing it as he gripped it by the handle that was by the sheathe. It was a long blade after all. Heavy with the weight but this was Redemption Zero Kai that belonged to the Azterian Lord of Thorns.
The ground began to rumble, a loud roar was heard. The others closed their ears but to Vizel this was normal for him. The creature came into view, it was a group of them. Demon titans whose helmets were derived from the minotaur lineage. Taller than the mountains and the demon lord Mikava was sitting on a throne behind his demon titans. The others were shaking as they grabbed the runes to cast them out. The runes shattered but they were not being teleported out. Panic ensued while Vizel put on his helmet. It was time for the Rose of Guilty to do what he does best. Cindy was panicking as the Hunters moved to protect her. The demon titans closed in, ready to grab the other Hunters away.
"Now... This will be a fun they will be good food for my pets. However, leave the songstress alone. She will be g-" Vizel threw a white rose into the air, where the petals exploded. Scattering them on the entire battlefield. Hand grabbing the grip as he drew the blade in one motion. Where the mountains had been cleaved in two, the demon titans were slashed into multiple pieces. Vizel made his move as the demon titans and the cultist began to take action. Desperate to stop Vizel from getting close to their demon lord. 10 rifles emerged from his cape, unleashing a hail of bullets to the cultists below. Leaving Vizel to cleave through the demon titans. Freeing the other Hunters from their clutches.
The demon titans, the cultists felt fear from Vizel. The Azterian Glare and the fact that the Rose of Guilty was before them was enough.
"Kill him! He's too dangerous to be left alive!"
'Skill activated : Tempting Violence.' The demons turned their attention to Vizel. Their desperation could be seen by the attacks they used. They were trying to stop Vizel from moving, wrapping his sword hand with the darkness that they had. Mikava made her move, using her powers to crush Vizel whole. Even having a demon titan swallow Vizel whole, the demon titatn's body was cleaved open. Revealing Vizel who still stood there with blood over his armor.
The blue streaks of his eyes, it reminded the demons that they were facing someone who's used to killing them. It made the demons question if they were the demons or the White Rose Knight before them was the greater demon? Mikava turned tail as her servants were left as Vizel's kills. Vizel appeared before Mikava.
"What th-" Mikava's last words were heard only by Vizel who cleaved her in half. He landed in front of Cindy and her hunters. Who witnessed the carnage.
Mileat11: Wow! He's like a knight in shining armor!
Actual155: That many demon titans in just seconds? This guy's OP.
SandGuardian: The white knight looks so beautiful.
Vizel used his left hand to wipe the blood off his blade. Swinging it aside to clear it completely, then he pulled out a white rose that absorbed the blood on the armor to the petals. Then throwing the rose aside as the it exploded, scattering white petals all over the area. Vizel let out a sigh, a fog formed out the vents from his lips. Taking off his helmet, putting it aside as Vizel popped the cork off a mana potion.

Taking light sips as his mana was slowly being restored. Exhaling the tiredness away from his body, Vizel seemed to be at ease. An uneasy calm as his eyes continued to glow, leaving blue streaks whenever he turned his head. The dungeon was cleared as Vizel stepped out to give his report to the Association Agents that were present. They listened attentively, even showing that they were watching the recordings.
"That's all for today, bye!" Cindy greeted her viewers, ending the stream. Looking at Vizel who was signing a few documents as part of the SDU. The dungeon's classification should be increased to B-Rank if there's a Demon Lord. That remark was written beside his signature as Vizel snapped his fingers for the armor to vanish, leaving the helmet on his head.
"Thanks for helping us today."
"It's my job." Vizel said as he walked away to get a drink for himself.
"What's with this guy? He's so non-chalant with Cindy."
"I don't know what's his deal but don't people his age want to get close to Cindy?" The other Hunters began to gossip, but Cindy was unsure about what to feel on that. Vizel was quiet as a mouse, but loud when necessary. His blade spoke for him and that was something that even Cindy was unsure of how to process it. Vizel would be following Cindy's guards from behind and the sidelines, his main thing was to focus on himself.
Cindy continued her live stream, the body guards and Hunters were always responsive while Vizel was just maintaining his weapons. Aside from Redemption Zero Kai, he also received a pistol that was similar to the Magnum that was used by Coffin Dancer. A custom design by Silas and perfected by Bellwitch.
"This is Vizel. He's part of the SDU! He also killed a demon lord with a single swing! Say hi to the camera." Cindy pointed the phone at Vizel who just gave a nod.
"Oh people in my chat are saying they've never seen a powerful Familiar like yourself."
"That's because my powers originate from my master. A Familiar's strength comes from their master. The stronger the Familiar, the stronger the master. A strong familiar with a weak master causes imbalance. Same goes for a weak familiar and a strong master." Vizel's explanation was simple, where Cindy recorded him just loading the bullets for the magnum.
The Preaching Magnum had been known to the world for quite sometime but it wasn't something ground breaking. It was just a better way to use heavier calibers in a smaller weapon. Easier to carry compared to a rifle if one has the strength. But if one lacks the strength, the weapon becomes a liability.
"Is your sword a named weapon?"
"Yes. It is. It belonged to a hero of my country. She sacrificed a lot for the people. Even being betrayed by them, yet she still wants to forgive us."Vizel said with a smile, recounting the tales of the Azteris Lord of Thorns. The heroism that she had, the kindness that she showed to the people of Azteris.
The Suicide Division now serve the 13th Lord of Thorns to repay a debt, but Vizel would never speak of it as much. Only to recount those memories in his mind. The time when the Azteris Lord of Thorns placed her hand over his head, patting him.
"I'll end the war soon, Little Fear. Then you and your brothers won't be needed to fight any longer." She failed because of a betrayal, and Vizel reminisced to when he stabbed the Lord of Thorns. Citing betrayal, only to be taken in to become the White Rose Knight. The Rose of Guilty, what a name is it not?
As the other Hunters went to sleep. Vizel was meditating, it was his way of going into a trance. A combat trance that meant that if someone stepped close into viccinity with ill intentions to harm Cindy, they would answer to Vizel's blade. Vizel could see the interest that had developed over him in social media. The headlines talked about Vizel being a Familiar who was handsome and powerful. Not that he minded it.
The next day came along as Vizel was now following Cindy to a variety show.
"So, Cindy. What's it like being a Hunter? Has it been a fruitful experience?"
"Yes! It's been fun! But dangerous at times and that's why I normally keep myself with experienced Hunters who work with me through the details but... Yesterday was difficult."
"Oh. Was it because of the demon lord?"
"Yeah but we were lucky to have Vizel." The camera pointed at Vizel who was standing as still like a statue. When the camera was pointed at him, he did not say a word nor did he do anything. The sight of his beautiful white hair was something that the camera zoomed in. The blue eyes that left streaks whenever he looked elsewhere. Turning his head to the side, it was as if Vizel could not be bothered.
Vizel looked into the camera's lens, as he pulled out a white rose. Throwing it aside as it exploded into petals. When the petals landed to the hands of the people, they found a bouquet of white roses in their hand. However, Vizel was not there. He was at the parking lot. Where he could see a van rolling into it. Opening up with masked men and guns, their guns were not props and they were not part of the show.
"Alright. That Cindy girl is here. We need to just gr-" Vizel dealt with it. Silently with his blades, the pair of tachi that lacked hand guards. The 2nd White Rose Knight's blade of choice. The radiant azure was the last thing they would see, leaving the driver alone as Vizel waltzed over with blood over his outfit.
"Who hired you?" The driver pulled out a gun, firing at his own head. Vizel had messed up, then he made his way back to the variety show grounds. Seeing men with guns that began to call for negotiation. Using a barrier that meant that magic was useless. 36 gunmen total, 200 audience members. 5 gunmen who had Cindy, the talkshow host and other celebrities at gunpoint.
"We demand a sum of 10 million dollars for the release of these people! Or we-" Vizel had shattered the barrier that they made, carving through them as he stood before Cindy who looked up to see him.
"Sho-" Before they could finish their sentence, Vizel had vanished. Cutting their limbs off and then head. Rinse and repeat. He kept on going, no hesitation. The slaughter was merciless, Vizel did not smile. An expressionless face. Yet as the cameras continued rolling, they could not help but admire the beauty that was the White Rose Knight. The Rose of Guilty. Their guns fired at him, but the bullets did not meet Vizel at all. Purchased into the walls, the shell casings found solace on the floor.
Blood all over his suit, Vizel pierced their chests. Swinging to free the blade as he went after the rest. Within seconds it was over, the blood painted onto his outfit like a canvass. If one were to look at Vizel they would not view him as nothing more than a masterpiece beneath the heavens. A masterpiece made of blood.
Not a hateful gaze, not a pitiful gaze. His eyes were empty of any expression. Wiping the blood of the blade over his clothes, then sheathing them. Taking off his gloves, pulling out a handkerchief from the inner pocket. Walking over to Cindy, wiping the blood off her cheek gently.
When it was done, Vizel brought out another white rose. A kiss, as the blood dyed the rose red. Leaving no stains on everyone else. Placing the rose over to his breast pocket.
"Are you alright?" A gentleness in the voice. A hand offered to her. She took it, as Vizel helped Cindy to her feet.
"Yes. I'm... i'm alright." Her cheeks flushed but Vizel let go off her hand. Going over to check on everyone else for help. They didn't feel anything. Not pain, not sorrow or even fear of the chaos that had ensued. An after effect of the Rose of Guilty. The one who takes up all of the guilt. All those feelings were buried within the White Rose Knight of Guilty.
After everything had ended, Vizel stayed by Cindy's side. While the others went for psychic evaluations to get themselves checked out. People took snap shots of Vizel who did not move from her side. Standing while she sat. Calm when she was feeling uneasy. Stoic when she was feeling so much emotions flow into her mind.
"Vizel. I.. Thank you." He merely nodded.
"I won't be doing much after today. It's just.."
"It's normal to feel powerless in situations when you have been granted power. I've been through such cases myself. I was powerless before I became Vizel." His words surprised her.
"So you.. You felt weak too?"
"The 10 gunmen that appear from my cape. Those are my 10 dead older brothers. I was powerless as I watched them die to protect a town. Being powerless should make you strive for strength. A Rune Songstress has a blade to use. I'll teach you a swordsmanship that suits your stature. A rapier so you may fight and sing at the same time." Vizel said which surprised Cindy.
"Is.. Is that possible?"
"Yes. The rapier does not require much movements, what I will train you will be enough to protect yourself against enemies. Do rest, Cindy." Vizel said as he offered a rose. That interaction alone was enough to cause a chaotic PR nightmare for Cindy's people. They were trying to calm the flames of the keyboard warriors that were berating Vizel for being too close to their idol. Most of them cited.
'He's just a guy for one week.'
'How dare he get close to her!'
'She's better than that Caroline. How dare that Familiar act so easy going with her!'
More chaos was incoming. Just waiting for the storm.

The players are still having fun, but everyone agrees it’s about time for something big to happen. Everybody tends to forget that big things grow from small things, and little things are always changing in Veritas. The human country of Quarternell is at peace for the first time in... ever. Unfortunately for Aspen, his country and his goddess aren’t quite done with him yet.Rouge the Rogue is a casual gamer in Veritas Online. She’s just a kid, and her focus is supposed to be on school and hanging out with friends. Emphasis on ‘supposed to’. She’s already pretty good at the school thing, and she doesn’t actually have that many friends. What she really loves is exploring all the cool ways the developers of Veritas found to make their game unique and realistic. Then she’s offered a very special quest, and an opportunity to go beyond the average player. She’s never been that much of a rule follower anyway....Clearing is appropriate for most ages. It has minimal foul language, no sex, and some violence. It is LGBTQ+ friendly. (P.S. IMPORTANT! This book contains very mild profanity, no sex, and is meant to be FUN. Yes, the characters sometimes think Deep Thoughts, and idealism pretty much runs rampant, but, in the end, I hope you just enjoy reading it. Laugh, cry, share it with your kids, read it to your dog, whatever makes you happy. My goal is for it to be accessible to everyone from ages 12ish on up, so you could definitely consider it YA, but with lots of big words because I don't believe in talking down to my readers.) Book Two: Harrowing (Starts after the original Chapter Fifty, now Sixteen, since I condensed chapters from the same perspective together.) Zoey has started her summer internship at Veritas Corporation, and she can honestly say that being an adult is boring. Until she starts learning secrets she was never supposed to know. In game, Rouge is finally making progress on her big quest. Apparently Duke Penbrooke took too long to return to the world, so the world is coming to get him... in the form of a few assassins. Aspen is going to have to face the life he left behind, and deal with the fact that it's not as easy being 'dead' as he thought. When what he'd hoped would be a short trip back to civilization to resupply turns into a whole lot more, he'll have to fight for his life, his friends, and his kingdom. Book Three: Sowing Rouge and Aspen have reached Bright, only to find that their enemies were already expecting them. They will have to quickly unravel the mysteries of who their opponents actually are, because they're already ten steps behind. Rouge and Aspen are finally home, but that doesn't mean they can return to their peaceful days of farming. Their enemies are hot on their heels and determined to destroy everything they've managed to achieve. Join them and all their friends for the final volume of Legendary Farmer.
