《ADEPTAVERSE》31 - Empire of Darkness Arc: The Kalamitus Part 2

2 AM.
Zone Six, Skarka City. Wrathak.
"Move aside!"
Two guards escorted a figure to a roadblock at the start of Zone Six. As light from a flickering lamppost shined on the figure it was revealed to be Kruger, the brown-haired young man scouted ahead of him with his dead eyes, before speaking plainly. "The buildings..are on fire...much like some of the other occupied Zones."
Many guards were guarding the roadblock making sure no one was going in or out, two trucks on the edge of the roadblock aiming ahead with mounted LMGs on top.
Kruger started to walk into the zone, climbing over the riot fence that had been placed down.
"Sir!" One of the guards that escorted him shouted out from being the fence.
Kruger glanced over his shoulder as he walked. "No need to worry. Hold your position."
...
Kruger walked through the street, the buildings around him completely on fire, he stopped and kept looking around.
"Where are they hiding.." He mumbled, and as soon as he stopped talking he looked right in front of him as a truck drove around the corner, the truck was a military vehicle but as Kruger looked closer he noticed that it was covered in graffiti and that the wolven man on the LMG on top of it was in a rugged citizens attire rather than a military one; it was stolen by the rebels. "Hm." He grimaced as his eye glowed a striking orange and a tall armored figure summoned in front of him around 6'5 tall, the armor on the figure was heavy with red and black plating having orange eyes that glowed through its visor. It was armed with a giant warhammer with a head the same size as the walking armor's torso.
Kruger's eyes, still blazing orange dashed and hid behind the walking armor as the truck started driving full speed at Kruger and his armor, firing its LMG right at them, fortunately for Kruger his walking armor took the blows for him, only denting the armor heavily. Some of the bullets ricochet and slammed into the concrete road or the burning buildings.
As soon as the truck was close enough however, the walking armor brought the warhammer above its head, slamming it down full force on the truck's bonnet just before it could run them over. This caused the truck's engine to explode, making it flip over Kruger and the armor and land behind them completely destroyed. The truck was on its side, with the gunner on the side of the road on fire..and in half. Kruger coughed twice and stood up straight, looking at the armor stand idle facing the way the truck came with the warhammer in the ground still.
Kruger's eyes stopped glowing and the armor vanished in black and red smoke, he continued his walk and soon walked down another street in the Sixth Zone. This street wasn't on fire, more so bombed. He frowned knowing that more rebels would be here. "All this within an hour...they sure were ready."
POW!
Kruger was suddenly shot in the head by a sniper. He fell on his back, not moving.

"Did he get him??"
"Seems like it!"
"Heh!"
A group of rebels ran out from the bombed buildings, all running to Kruger.
"Wh-"
Kruger grabbed one of the rebels by the neck, his hand wrapped in black and red steel. He slowly stood up as the other rebels watched in horror.
"How is he.."
Kruger slowly looked up at the other rebels with blazing orange eyes as he held the other by his neck, he had a half-finished helmet on his head that blocked the bullet, it fell to the ground with a large dent in it and vanished in black and red smoke.
SNAP!
He snapped the rebel's neck and threw them on the ground, lifeless.
"I hate snipers.."
Kruger mumbled as he looked up at a church at the end of the street.
"I got you.."
He dashed at the other rebels and kept his movement swift, knowing that the sniper won't fire on his own comrades. He sent two walking armors out that were armed with swords, cutting down the rest of the rebels that were with the one he killed. Suddenly a large swarm of rebels came out, and Kruger's eyes glowed even brighter.
"WHAT IS UP WITH HIS EYES!?"
"DOESN'T MATTER JUST GET RID OF HIM! HE'S IMPERIAL!!"
Kruger summoned six other knights, all of which were armed with swords. They started to work their way through the rebels like butter. The difference in combat experience was very clear; the rebels lacked it. Kruger himself was dodging and letting his knights do the work for him, suddenly another sniper shot rang out, and one of the knight's heads flew off. Kruger noticed this and grimaced.
"Must have shot a 100 Kal round..thank god he didn't use that on me." He thought as he dodged a combat knife slice to his throat, summoning another knight to take down the rebel that was wielding the knife with a point like he was commanding the knight. After the knight snapped the rebel's neck another shot rang out, causing another knight to become headless and fall to the ground in a puff of black and red smoke. Kruger realized that if he stayed out in the open he would quickly be met with the same fate, swiftly summoning a knight in front of him to take another sniper bullet as he ran right into the entrance of a bombed house to his right. Few of his knights remained outside fighting off the horde of rebels who were working through the rebels like butter.
Kruger dashed upstairs and through the ruined house soon noticing an opening in the wall before him that lead through to another house. He summoned a knight to jump through the hole first which took the sniper's bullet letting Kruger jump through to the other house safely, Kruger rolled upon landing and crouched next to a cracked window, the church was close.
Kruger itched his cheek and shot his blue eyes forward to see if there was another hole to the next house, but there wasn't. He squinted out the window down to the street below, knowing that it was the quickest way to the church and to the sniper.

He crouched next to the window and summoned a knight behind him that ran out of the window and smashing it in the process, taking a sniper shot. Kruger followed shortly after and summoned another knight as he landed which took another shot. Kruger dashed as fast as he could to the church, soon making it to the entrance. He pushed the large doors open and quickly walked in, summoning two knights to slam the doors shut behind him before more rebels in the street spotted him. He looked around the church hall which was seemingly untouched by the rebel takeover. He squinted and kept his guard up, making his way to the stone spiral staircase at the corner of the hall and climbing up it.
He soon saw the top of the staircase, stopping his ascension and summoning a knight in front of him that ran up. An explosion occurred that shook the staircase, causing dust to kick up everywhere. Kruger coughed.
"Klaymore.."
He summoned three more knights and ran with them out on top of the church. The top of the church was completely flat except the curtain walls at the edge of the roof. Kruger's knights quickly fell one by one with three sniper shots, Kruger swiftly swung his head around to the location of the gunshots and saw a wolven man in a black raincoat with short black hair; Radius.
Radius reloaded his sniper and fired another bullet at Kruger which was shielded by a half summoned knight.
Kruger's blazing orange eyes started to sprint at Radius, taking out a karambit knife from his military jacket.
Radius fired another shot at Kruger but was too late, Kruger kicked the sniper to the side causing the bullet to hit the concrete below them. Radius quickly let go of his sniper and rolled out the way of Kruger's knife, quickly throwing a dagger at him after finishing his roll a few meters away from Kruger. Kruger was hit in the shoulder by the dagger but didn't let the pain affect him. He took the knife out with a grunt and threw it back at Radius with a spin, Radius simply ducked and stood straight, slowly backing away from Kruger.
Kruger grimaced and summoned a knight with a greatsword, it stared at Radius for a few seconds with its glowing orange eyes through its visor before sprinting at him full speed. Radius threw a flashbang out from his raincoat, covering his eyes as it went off. Kruger grunted loudly and covered his eyes before it went off, the knight however took the flashbang point-blank, causing it to stagger and drop its greatsword. Radius took this chance to run at the knight and drive a dagger into its neck under its helmet. The knight dropped to the floor after this happened as smoke leaked out of its neck before vanishing in black and red smoke.
Radius sent a roundhouse kick to Kruger's face causing the young man to fall to his side, rolling and kicking himself up off the ground. He got in a defensive pose and glared at Radius.
"You knew that stab would affect my knight...who are you?" Kruger asked with fiery orange eyes.
"Tch. Your knights...that glow in your eyes...you must be apart of the Kalamitus, I'm right aren't I?" Radius frowned at Kruger as he spoke strictly.
"Hm...you must be the ex-imperial."
"I am..and I'm also the one that captured the one before you with that same magik, Kodan. You are his successor, yes?"
Kruger paused, before frowning.
"Good thing I am here to do what he could not."
Kruger grimaced before his eyes glowed even brighter.
"AAAAARGHHHH! CENTURION!!!!!!!!!!!"
Suddenly dozens of knights appeared around Radius, who could only be shocked at the sight. They had completely surrounded him. Radius acted swiftly throwing a smoke grenade down at his feet, some enough smoke filled the area. Kruger frowned at the sight and ordered a few knights to swiftly guard the staircase to the roof.
...
The smoke cleared, and Radius was nowhere to be seen.
"Wh-" Kruger looked around quickly, pushing his knights out the way if he had to. "If he didn't take the staircase then..no.."
He peeked over the edge of the church, spotting Radius climbing down. He growled and summoned two knights with crossbows to fire at Radius, but it was too late. Radius had already made it to the ground and started running.
Kruger started to shake in anger, his knights on the roof all slowly looking at him with their orange eyes.
"Ghhh.......SHIT!" Kruger punched the concrete ground, causing his knuckles to start bleeding. He put his hand to his face, his eyes shaking in anger as well now. "BASTARD!!!!" He looked out over the edge of the church at the rest of the occupied Zone.
"Kill them...kill the rebels...all of them...KILL THEM KILL THEM KILL THEMMMMM!!!!!!!"
His knights jumped off the church and landed without a scratch, soon flooding the rest of Zone Six.
Kruger licked his bleeding knuckles as he watched his knights flood the zone from atop the church.
In 30 minutes the rebels were wiped out. The body count of the rebels was 164. Zone Six was back under the government's control.

The Last Death Mage
Since time immemorial humanity has always feared and shunned what it didn’t understand. Over time this changed a bit to encompass things that didn’t conform to their thoughts and ideals. Due to humanity’s stubbornness with which the enforced their ideals many lives were lost and changed. When humanity first clashed with monsters and the beings that use magic, this trait caused many bloody fights. Over time the fights escalated into battles and full on war on several occasions. Humanity due to their adaptability and persistence won many of these altercations, causing huge casualties to the magical beings. Humanity did not come out unscathed however; many of the empires and civilizations noted in human history fell due to these battles and wars. Eventually over time humanity and the magical beings came to a sort of agreement. Magic and the beings associated with it faded into the background of history, being relegated to myth and legend. Humanity meanwhile advanced leaps and bounds once magic faded, leading to our current level of civilization. Not all magical beings were content with this, thus they did their own actions and killed or fed on humans. This has led to many organizations to be formed concerning this, on both the side of humanity and the side of magical beings. They regulate and control the use of magic as well as protect humanity from the darker things that are now not but myth to them, but there is a reason humanity instinctually fears the dark. Unfortunately there are always those that are unsatisfied by the status quo, and those that are prejudiced against things that are different. This is a story of a young man who wanted nothing more than to be normal. Unfortunately Fate and the world he lives in do not easily allow that this, thus his life changed, not for the better. Everyone has heard of or read stories about monsters and legends, heroes and villains, this is one such story. Hi, this is my second attempt at a story here, the first was before the major overhaul happened and i lost everything related to that story due to PC troubles. I hope you enjoy this if you dont please leave some constructive criticism in the comments. An Editor and the like will be needed, but I will edit as problems are pointed out and as i proof read. This story will have no set schedule, unless of course I decide to type up a bunch in succession then i will note that in a chapter beforehand. ADDED NOTE: most sexual content will be in Interludes or sub chapters with a .5 attached. Profanity and gore however shall be plenty in the actual story, though the descriptives for the gore may be added later. (For example, in the prologue that gave a hint at what happened to the MC, will be enhanced so that the gore invokes more descriptive/complete mental pictures, though it may wait.) ~Tyroth Gideon
