Two Days Later.
Every four years a tournament is held within the city of Sapianus inside of a colosseum known as the Heartbleed Arena. The tournament is extremely popular due to the loose rules and the fact that killing is allowed. This draws many to the arena which can fill up to 110,000 people. The tickets have never failed in selling out within 24 hours.
The rules are as follows.
- Victory is achived via loss of consciousness or death of your opponent.
- The use of potions or any other items that may assist you in battle is not allowed.
- All magik is allowed. All weapons apart from explosives are allowed.
The tournament is simply known as the Eradication Tournament. The fighters are chosen by votes by the general public of Adepta after the fighters sign up to be voted for. The number of fighters per tournament is eight. Each fighter dueling another until the final two remains, which is the deciding match. It all takes place in one day.
The winner obtains 500k Kredits and a personal reward from the founder of the Eradication Tournament - Mister Ban.
"FOR THE SECOND FIGHT OF THE 33RD ERADICATION TOURNAMENT WE HAVE TWO DEADLY FIGHTERS WHO HAVE HIGH KILL COUNTS ON BOTH THEIR RECORDS!!! FOR THE FIRST FIGHTER WE HAVE A RETIRED BODYGUARD FROM HOMSTALA! AGE 43!"
Music started to play through the arena, which is a normal routine. All fighters choose their own music to increase the excitement of the audience.
"MASOOOOOONNNNNNNNNNN FRATZORRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

The gates on the left side of the arena slowly opened up as a tall muscular man walked out wearing nothing but a pair of dark brown combat shorts. He was around 6'7 and was extremely muscular. He had long ragged black hair which he kept down his back that stopped just after his shoulders. His veins were popping out of his arms and legs as the statue of a man walked into the middle of the arena and looked at the gate on the other side of the arena with his sharp brown eyes. His face was completely unamused.
The audience cheered Mason's name in a chant as the announcer spoke over the speaker once more.
"AND NOW FOR THE SECOND FIGHTER WHO COMES FROM AN UNKNOWN LOCATION, STANDING AT 5'11 AT THE AGE OF 21!"

"GRIMMMMMMJAKKKKKKKKKKKKK ZIZAHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!"
The gates opened on the right side of the arena as a young yet fierce-looking man with red eyes which had equally red eyeshadow around them walked into the arena casually. His figure stood at around 5'11 and wore a white short-sleeved button-up shirt alongside red bottoms and a simple pair of red sneakers. His hair was pure white and brushed back off his cocky face which slowly grinned at Mason opposite him. His teeth were not white, they were crimson. Mason noticed this and gave a simple squint as he stood motionless.
Grimjak looked up at the giant and gave a cocky smile, not saying anything. Mason responded in kind but lacked a smile.
The two were 10 meters apart.
"FIGHTERS AT THE READY....."
Grimjak crouched down slightly with his hands in front of him, his fingers producing a gripping gesture on each hand. Mason noticed Grimjak's fingernails were crimson much like his teeth and frowned, simply raising both fists as a boxer would.
"FIGHTTTTTTTT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
Grimjak launched forward in a flash and aimed a roundhouse kick further powered by his acceleration to the side of Mason's face. Mason's eyes flickered as he ducked under the kick and grabbed his leg, swinging Grimjak over his shoulder and slamming him into the dirt ground behind him. He then swung Grimjak over his shoulder again aiming to slam him into the ground a second time but soon grunted in pain, letting go before he could force him into the ground. Grimjak flew a few dozen meters away and rolled, standing up and grimacing.
"A single cracked left rib, nothing that will affect the outcome of this fight~" He spoke to himself, his voice smooth and one of a posh British person. His bottom lip was also bleeding.
"Good move, big boy~ but I'm not a twig. I will not be shattered from that."
Mason slowly turned around holding his left forearm, it had four large claw marks in it that were bleeding heavily. "Little shit...how did you do this?!" His roaring voice boomed out, sweat producing on the side of his head.
Grimjak grinned, his crimson teeth shining as they glowed a light red. They slowly started to sharpen seemingly on their own. He then raised his fingers on both hands in front of his face, the crimson nails of which sharpening as well.

SkRkkKRKkKRkk~
Mason's eyes widened as Grimjak answered his question.
"Magik..."
Grimjak's nails and teeth were sharpened.
"I am the King of Hunters, and you are my mark~"
...
"WOAHHHHHH! IT SEEMS GRIMJAK HAS USED THE INTELLIGENT ENERGY TO SHARPEN HIS TEETH AND NAILS! WHAT A SAVAGE AND UNIQUE TECHNIQUE! WE DON'T OFTEN GET MAGIK USERS IN THE TOURNAMENT AS THE PERCENTAGE OF THEM AMONGST THE ADEPTAN POPULATION HAS ONLY BEEN 33% FOR MANY YEARS NOW! HOW WILL MASON RESPOND TO THE KING OF HUNTERS?!"
The announcer shouted as Grimjak grinned with his predatory crimson teeth. "Fufufu~"
Mason let go of his bleeding forearm and looked at Grimjak.
"I am impressed."
Grimjak grinned. "Flattery? How cute~"
"But you're still a cocky bastard, kid."
Mason's body started to steam a dark green aura as he extended his injured forearm forwards.
Grimjak's eyes widened.
Slowly but surely dark green crystal particles wrapped around his forearm before stretching in front of him, creating a shield that was attached to his arm. This shield was more specifically a tower shield created out of the green crystals that shielded his front whilst suppressing the bleeding as it was attached to his forearm.
The audience cheered loudly as Mason slammed the green shield down at the side of him.
Grimjak's face filled with excitement.
"Verrryyyy goooood~"
"IT SEEMS THAT MASON IS ALSO ONE WHO IS BLESSED BY THE GOD OF INTELLIGENCE! WHAT A RARE OCCURRENCE!!!!!!"
The dust settled and the two stood in silence. But soon enough Grimjak make the first move! He ran straight at Mason who moved his shield in front of him to defend himself. Grimjak grinned and dug his nails into Mason's shield, swiftly hopping over it. Grimjak looked down at Mason who was already prepared for Grimjak's move, aiming a pistol right at Grimjak's head as he moved over the shield.
"Bang."
Mason mumbled as he swiftly started to pull the trigger back. But before he could Grimjak slashed at the pistol with his nails which sliced it in half. Mason grimaced at this as Grimjak aimed a slice at his face, but Mason simply launched a powerful punch at Grimjak's shoulder which parried his attack, sending him flying into the air and back over the shield. Grimjak flipped in the air and landed on his feet before sprinting at Mason once more.
"That shield...I managed to dig my nails into it~ That means one thing. I can slice that thing up just as I would to an armored foe! Heheheh~"
SLASH SLASH SLASH SLASH SLASH!
Mason grunted as he noticed his shield was taking heavy damage. "I guess he leaves me no choice!"
Mason's shield soon split apart into four pieces which then fused into two. His injured arm was still surrounded by the crystal green magik material to reduce his bleeding. The two pieces then sharpened into two blades which Mason duel-wielded.
The audience cheered as this happened.
...
But Grimjak laughed.
"BAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHA!"
Mason pointed both blades at Grimjak.
"Your constructions are weak. What you have just done has only screwed you over even more."
Mason ignored Grimjak's taunts and started to sprint directly at him. Grimjak watched him with his crimson eyes and grinned with his just as crimson teeth.
KACHING!!!!!!!!!
Grimjak was suddenly behind Mason in a blink of an eye. Mason stood still for a second before slowly turning around to Grimjak who was half turned towards him.
"Gh~..."
Mason's swords split apart and his chest was sliced open, he fell to his side.
"Magik is a lot like food. If you leave it half prepared t doesn't work as well~ Your constructions were like wood to my nails. I won't criticize you as much as I would do to a member of the Oligarchy of Magik. It is evident you are self-trained much like I am~" Grimjak's nails and teeth went back to their normal state as he started to walk away, leaving Mason barely alive.
"WE HAVE A WINNER!!!!! GRIMJAKKKK ZIZAHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!"
Grimjak slowly walked out the gate he entered into. A small crimson grin appearing on his face.
Magik is the most dominating energy of the universe. Even more so than dark energy.

(Writer's Note:) I'm a pretty new writer, so expect delays, errors, inconsistent logic, plot holes the size of a small 4-wheeled vehicle, and a distinct lack of snark. At least from the MC. Also, yes, the cover is an image I made in paint. I have...NO artistic skills. It is a placeholder. Also, I came up with this idea in the shower after a nine-hour RRL binge. SO BEAR WITH ME.
