《ADEPTAVERSE》46 - The New Genesis Arc: The Eradication Tournament Part 3, The Familiar Blue

Within the Heartbleed Arena sat a now recovered Grimjak inside of a medical bay on a bed. His wounds were completely healed, evident that it was the work of the doctor in front of him who was checking up on him.
The wolven doctor in front of him itched his marked face as he looked at Grimjak. "Your cheekbone is completely healed now as well as the internal bleeding inside of your eye. You are ready for your final match in 20 minutes."
"Heh." Grimjak stood up, stretching his arm. "Damn right, cheers doc'"
Grimjak soon walked out. The wolven doctor squinted as he took note of Grimjak's crimson teeth.
"They weren't added via surgery. He was born with those."
...
Meanwhile, inside of a luxurious room that overlooked the arena via a large glass window, an old alter-elf man sat on a large chair. He had extremely long white hair that trailed down his back and stopped before his backside, its width being almost the same as his body itself. As for his face, he had one blind eye that had a large vertical cut over it which left him with one right light blue eye. His ears poked out slightly from his hair, both having helix, forward helix, and industrial piercings. These piercings were completely black. Despite being old, his posture in his chair was not that of a crippled old man. He was sat up and keen, his bright eyes locked onto the arena below him as the faint cheers of the audience echoed faintly.
"The match is about to start. Do you require any luxuries in order to improve your enjoyment of the final match?" A young human man in a suit with short white hair and brown eyes asked the alter-elf with a bow, standing to his left.
"Hm. I will be fine...
...I am simply here to see how the man representing the Oligarchy of Magik does."
The young man smiled and stood beside him with his hands behind his back. "Of course. As the leader and founder of the Oligarchy, it is something you will take pleasure in, Sir Steelspine."
The old man soon squinted as the gate on the left in the arena started to open. "May Intelligence bless him."
...
As Grimjak walked out of his gate and into the center of the arena the audience cheered and his music played as usual. But Grimjak wasn't grinning like usual. He had a rather serious expression across his face.
The gates on the other side slowly opened, and straight away Grimjak felt the magikal pressure coming from the opening.
"Holy shit."
"A REPRESENTATIVE OF THE OLIGARCHY OF MAGIK, STANDING AT 6'3 AT THE AGE OF 28! THE TEACHER OF THE OLIGARCHY'S SPELLSWORDS..."

"HUGOOOOOOOOOOOOOO BLACKKKKKKKKKBLOOOOOOOOOOODDDDDDDD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
A man with brown hair tied into an average length ponytail walked out into the battlefield wearing a black parka, brown combat pants alongside a pair of steel toe black boots. The audience boomed with excitement as Hugo walked out into the arena. His brown eyes were locked onto Grimjak's crimson eyes.

Grimjak kept his posture against the magikal pressure leaking from Hugo. The strain wasn't enough to cause a nosebleed, however. Hugo didn't say a word as he looked at the crimson fanged man.
"A teacher from the Oligarchy of Magik, hm? I am honored~ Fufu~" Grimjak grinned as he sharpened his nails and teeth with magik. Hugo saw this and squinted, still not saying a word.
"FIGHTERS AT THE READYYYYYY!!!!!!!!!"
Hugo stood still with his hands at his side as he looked at Grimjak who simply extended both arms to the side, crouching slightly.
"FIGHTTTTTTTT!!!!!!!!!"
Grimjak ran at Hugo in a flash and aimed a downward slash at his face with his claws. Hugo acted like lightning, extending his forearm and blocking the claws with a small magikal shield made from blue crystal that was attached to his arm. Grimjak's eyes widened at Hugo's speed who summoned a crystalized knuckle duster on the fist that didn't belong to the one blocking Grimjak's attack before sending a punch directly into Grimjak's face. Grimjak was sent flying back, getting on all fours after rolling and bleeding heavily from his nose and mouth.
Hugo desummoned the knuckle duster and shield, summoning a huge battleaxe on his shoulder made out of blue crystal. He slowly started to walk over to Grimjak, his face calm.
"Hahhh~ hahhh~" Grimjak panted as he slowly got back to his feet, looking at the approaching Hugo with an angry crimson glare.
"RARGHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!"
Grimjak suddenly let out an angry scream as his teeth and nails sharpened even more. He took off his shoes alongside his socks as the nails on his feet even started to sharpen too. His teeth were so sharp that his canines poked out from his closed mouth.
Hugo stopped walking and looked at Grimjak, who's body was now steaming red from the magik.
"That is your limit, then." Hugo spoke to Grimjak, who crouched and looked at his enemy.
"The steam says so. It isn't actually steam, you know. It is magik giving form and leaking out your body. Magik can materialize in many ways. My constructs, for example, are not made of crystal, they simply manifest into a crystal-like material." Hugo kept his brown eyes locked onto Grimjak, who got on all fours like a dog.
"Quit lecturing me, old man!"
"Hm. Self-taught then." Hugo kept the huge blue battleaxe over his shoulder.
Grimjak growled before sprinting at Hugo on all fours.
"Such a unique and predatory stance. I have not fought anyone like this before. I should take caution!" Hugo thought to himself as he summoned a shortsword in his other hand, keeping his axe over his shoulder.
CHANG CHANG!
Grimjak launched two slashes as he dashed by, both of which were blocked by the sword Hugo was holding. He then kicked off the floor after passing by Hugo, slashing at him again as he passed him. Hugo quickly spun and blocked both strikes again with the shortsword which broke after the second slash. "Damnit! if he didn't sharpen them threefold that would have lasted, oh well."

Grimjak gained some distance and got back on two feet, his sharpened nails on his feet scraping against the dirt floor.
Hugo then suddenly started to sprint at Grimjak, who's eyes widened. Hugo threw the broken shortsword at Grimjak who slashed it away, ducking under a swing by Hugo's battleaxe before sending a kick to Hugo's stomach. Hugo grunted slightly but grabbed Grimjak's leg, throwing him a few meters into the air and bringing his axe down on him before he hit the floor. Grimjak attempted to block the blow with his sharpened nails but it wasn't enough, the axe slammed straight into his chest. Hugo kept the screaming Grimjak pinned to the ground with his axe who clawed at it.
"I missed your heart on purpose. But if you don't get medical attention soon you will die from blood loss. So what is it? Do you submit?" Hugo frowned at the struggling Grimjak.
"ARGH! YOU BASTARD!!" Grimjak grimaced as he glared into Hugo's eyes, filled with hatred. Hugo sighed and lifted the axe out of Grimjak's chest. Grimjak screamed in pain as this happened.
Hugo started to walk away from Grimjak, speaking as he did. "Get up and you'll regret it. I'll stay down and act unconscious if I were you."
Grimjak was in a serious amount of pain and losing consciousness, but none the less..he slowly started to get up. The blood pouring from his chest was slowly killing him.
"HUUUUGOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
Hugo slowly turned around and looked at the dying Grimjak, who stood straight whilst bleeding heavily. Hugo's eyes widened slightly as Grimjak started to sprint at him.
"You truly are something, Grimjak. I won't kill you...but you'll be out for a while." Hugo mumbled.
The two then clashed for the last time in the match, and as soon as the dust settled Grimjak was seen slowly falling forward past Hugo.
"I'll...get you back for this...Blackblood..."
Grimjak fell to the floor, near death.
"WE HAVE OUR WINNNNNNNNNERRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
...
Half an hour later.
The doors to an office opened somewhere inside of the arena, Hugo stepping inside. Inside of the office was a sharp-looking bald human man wearing sunglasses and a black suit alongside black leather gloves. He stood up, being just shorter than Hugo. He walked to Hugo and shook his hand. Ban seemed to be
"I am Mister Ban. Founder of the Eradication Tournament. Technically my father did so, but to avoid complications I am the current founder after changing a lot of the rules." The man had a strict voice, a slight American-like accent ringing from it.
"Good to meet you, sir." Hugo grinned as the two let go of each other's hand, Ban going back to his desk as Hugo walked in front of it.
"So you are a teacher at the Oligarchy of Magik. A powerful man financially and in terms of fighting, yes?" Ban asked Hugo, Hugo chuckled. "You could say that, yes sir. I have been there for a while now."
"Hm. And is it true you were involved in assassinating one of the Four Lords of Adepta?"
...
An awkward silence fell upon the two, but Hugo soon answered.
"Correct. But it was-"
"I understand, Mister Blackblood."
Ban poured the two a class of red wine, speaking more. "Emperor Nero was planning to eradicate this country from behind the scenes. In truth, you are a hero. You and the team that was..occupying you." He gave Hugo his glass of red wine, who carefully took the glass from him and took a swig of it.
"The civil war there still rages on to this day. I am sure you know. But that civil war is a better outcome to what the mad emperor was planning."
Hugo quickly changed the subject. "Sir. I am due to speak to someone soon, would you be okay with getting to the point?"
Ban looked at Hugo, before chuckling. "Of course, sorry, Mister Blackblood."
Ban took a card from his drawer and passed it to Hugo, alongside a receipt. "Your reward of 500 thousand kredits has already been added to your account. That key there is a personal present from me."
Hugo looked at the key, seemingly unfazed by the large amount of money he had won.
"A key? What to?"
"A ship, Mister Blackblood. Military Grade. It is currently docked in the Sapianus City Ship Storage just west of the arena. It is already registered to you so you can use it whenever you like." Mister Ban grinned and adjusted his sunglasses. Hugo smiled slightly to himself for a few seconds before looking at Ban, extending his hand for a shake.
"Thank you, sir."
...
Hugo soon exited the office.
"I will give you what he couldn't when we see each other again."
The Four Lords of Adepta are the four respective rulers of each country. Homstala (Human Territory), Altus (Alter-Elf Territory), Wrathak (Wolven Territory), and finally the mysterious Diratopia (Dire-Being Territory)
Currently, there is no Emperor of Wrathak due to his assassination six months ago.

If you had a chance to reset history, knowing what we know now, would you take it? Six years after kicking an alien expeditionary force off the surface of the Earth back to their staging bases in the asteroid belt, and aided by stolen alien technology, the United Terran Republic Navy has finally achieved enough warship production to put the enemy on the run. Despite the facade of unity projected by the Earth's new federal government, deep cracks still lie under the surface that threaten the stability of world peace and the ability to protect humanity with a unified military response. Within this backdrop, the North American Union, now a mere state in the greater union, has created or reopened multiple off-books projects and black sites to house secrets both old and new that would be far too toxic or dangerous to be known to the wider world at such a delicate stage in world history. One of these secrets will draw Captain Henry O'Toole from his comfortable posting with the Jupiter Fleet straight into a world of conspiracies and secrets that could destroy the new, still fragile world order. Captain O'Toole will take command of mankind's first true starship with a secret mission that would be seen as treason by the new federal government. His orders are to use a prototype faster than light drive to travel through dimensions higher than spacetime and ride the expansion of the universe to create an off-books colony solely for the NAU. There are consequences for escaping time's jealous grasp, which instead position them to have a chance to change the course of human history.
