《Erroneous Quest》SS Chapter One: Thou thee tears upon thy cheek?

Well this is a side story and I hope you like it. Just before I'm going to sleep I finish that last bit of it.
We take this tale of a displaced man in a slightly off tilter world, to the past way back to the beginning of world of magic. This era introduced various demons and magic, it all started because of a young woman, well at the time she was young girl, her name was Weyden.
In the lust, dark green forest a small settlement called Froir contained people who were the precursor of the long eared beings called elves. They are called “Nobles” because of their long lasting lives while other beings called human die they live.
Before the taboo of demons was created by man, the Nobles lived like kings because of their lifespans. There were other demons but they were very rare unlike the future or Rain’s current time.
Down an ancient and unused path there is a young girl jumping from one rock to the next avoiding the murky water below. Wearing a greenish tunic with camo leggings, her gold and black hair wildly waving as she runs to a familiar location. A ruined castle that belonged to the long dead Huma king, Soren IX, he was the heir of the kingdom of Leynard.
“I wonder what I’m going to find today,” as she whispers to her as she stopped in front a massive door made of rusting iron. She slowly ducks into the slightly open door, opening her pouch to find a pitch black rock as she drops it in her flask. A blinding light appears suddenly, just like a second sun, illuminating the castle.
Back in the town
“Wey…. Wey. Where are you? Come for supper.” A young woman in her twenties looking around opening doors throughout the vast corridor. “Where is that girl?” look at a little boy, “You know where your sister is, Colt?”
“Ma…I can’t keep up with my baby sister. Come to think of it, I noticed that my traveler’s pack is gone. Maybe she is out doing tomboy things.”
Creaking of the wooden door as it opens up to elderly man of the age of fifty, this was the so called king of elves, Roin. “I hope that girl didn’t go to the fallen castle again? I don’t know what to do with your daughter, Werry.”
Looking with a dismissive face as Werry said, “Well you can’t blame only me she more like you in your prime.”
“Ouch, Dad, she got you there.”
As Roin walks out of the hallway, out into the plaza of the settlement, “Morin’ people of my proud town.”
“Oi, shut up you…” as an elderly man walks past Roin,” This was my town before you.”
-Back in the ruins of the fallen-
The young girl, Weyden, is wandering around the dilapidated courtyard with a beaming lantern. Touching and feeling all the old runic craved floors and wall with ancient symbols and letters upon, as she walked past a statue in the likeness of the old king wearing a suit of verdant green scale armor, sudden that statue one that never moved just said, “Who goes there….” Wey trembled all over at the sight of the inanimate object whispering a subtle phrase, she spoke to it and said, “I’m Weyden, I’m the daughter of Wise King, Roin. How are you?”

“You…are relative to the Nobles…ah I see… now you are mocking me by desecrating…my home and my treasures…NOW THEN SHALL I TAKE THY LIFE.” As the slowly whispering statue talked to Wey thus turning into an intimidating threat. The wall cracked at the base of the statue as the old king starts to break free to strike down that lad in front of him.
The ruin castle came to life as all the candles set ablaze and the doors slowing closed, once the old king free himself from his rest.
Pleading with the statue Wey said,” NO…No I didn’t come to steal I only came to learn from this castle and its history. I never took anything from here… Will you stop it please?”
Seemingly the statue stops to think of the actions it was about to do but alas it started to approach Wey. “HA HA HA…Don’t tell lies missy… I saw your kind take from me. That very book that rested on my forgotten throne. It had all the secret and history of my kingdom. You may have not taken the book but you’ll the same with your LIES.” The king slowly stomped with a slow crawl towards the scared girl. “You won’t live to tell the tales. MISSY.”
The frantic girl is looking around the court to find a way to escape this grim terror in front of her. As her choices are slowing disappearing as the castle is rejuvenating itself. Weyden thought to herself, ah I remember there is a hole under the throne to a small room, she started to dash towards the center of the room. All to her dismay that very place of escape is just feet from her creeping doom.
She threw the lantern at the face of the king to distract him unlike a traditional oil lantern, this one uses a sort of moss that absorbs light in the day and release it at night. The moss tangled on the face of the king, thus doing nothing as the courtyard is bright from the renewed candles. Wey dash and slide under the king’s feet cause her leggings and tunic to be torn from the not so smooth marble floors.
“Ah I’m free…” as Weyden shouts at the sluggish statue of the old king but to unknown to her that hole which once was passage to a room is now blocked by a wooden latch six feet deep under the throne. “Why is this here.” The once relieved girl said with horror stricken face.
“Oh Missy…ah you stuck here let me help you out of there,” the king bends down into the hole quickly thrusting his arm to swipe at the girl, “Ahhhhh…what is this light. Where is it coming from? AHHH.” As the moss enter the dark hole and blinded that king who was grabbing at the girl as he smashes the latch into pieces. Then she fell and the king loss his prey.
-Three hours later-
“Ugh,” moaning sounds are heard in the small room from the wounded Weyden. Several cuts and bruises are on her body as she fell eight feet on the hard cobble stone floor and as the wooden pieces of the latch door fell on her. “Where am I…” she opens her eyes to a hole above her and her right hand is pinned under some rubble. Thinking to herself, I don’t want to die here, as she musters up some strength too free herself.

As the sunlight beaming through the canopy of the forest lessen, in the home of the king of nobles, Roin, “Where is that girl?”
Returning back the small room under the throne in the castle of fallen, Weyden, looks around to discover that this room was a vault of various books and trinkets. Finding old cloths, she makes a bandage for her arms and legs, slowly turning into a mummy. Pick up a book with the title, “Diary of Court Doctor,” as she opens the book just to see many illegible pages, flipping past several pages at the last one she read out loud.
Year 1xxx Month 05 Day15
We finally got one of those nobles to figure out how to gain life like them so my lord can be immortal…
Year 1xxx Month 05 Day 20
After several days of bloodletting I finally figured out something. It seems that those being are actually magical. Just like the heathens those being of horns and earth like skin. I read in an obscure journal of a man who was able to control mana. Should I ask the king for a research lab?
Year 1xxx Month 08 Day 1
I finally made a breakthrough I was able to store the mana of that noble into a rune. I should be able to use this keep my lord alive but the specimen died after I transfer all of his essence into the rune. I guess we need more of them…
Weyden started to sweat and feel sick to what she learnt of but she kept reading about that event.
Year 1xxx Month 11 Day 25
Ahh yes we were able to get about ten of these nobles and I perfected my runic transfer and just by touching the runes on the king he slowly returned back to his prime. And he made me find a way to use this mana as a weapon. Later that day, I gave him a ring which had a prototype rune of command. I told him that I foresaw this and had the entire castle marked with runes. So that the king can control the entire castle just like his limbs.
Year 1xxx Month 12 Day 01
We manage to acquire ninety more nobles this was needed to complete my final work, a new ring, since I safely figured out how to transfer from humans as well. Once I do this, my final ring would have the ability to unlock the mana within us humans. So with one hundred nobles and five hundred humans, I should have enough mana to access the lost art of the void.
Year 1xxx Month 12 Day 20
Today is the day of the ritual, I made the central point of the array under the throne of castle. At this very spot, I would be the only one besides the king to retain their awareness.
Year 1xxx Month 12 Day 20 5:00 PM
Ah ha it works, my ring is complete, before I opened up the latch under the throne, I heard various screaming and agony. I slowly peeked up to see the courtyard barren I only see the king as he stands in a stupefy pose. I call out to the king, “Your majesty, what is wrong and where are all the people at?” as he points in terror at something sitting at his throne. I look at what seems like misty legs just as a face came inches from mines. “Why hello there. Was it you who made this delicious treat for me? Why thanks to you, oh and don’t worry your next on my taste test.” That thing said to me. “What are you?” I said to it, “Oh boy I am Wraith, you won’t have to suffer to long unlike the king her would…Ha ha ha.” I quickly in horror shut the latch and activated the king’s command ring remotely.
Year 1xxx Month 12 Day 20 11:59 PM
I don’t know if this is my last entry as the loud sounds around the castle as thrashing of walls and furniture as that wraith tries to enter my bound latch. Knowing that it won’t last long. This is my good byes and anyone reading this in the center of this room is a box that has no hinges. Say the phrase, “Stare into the Void” ………………
No more to read, Weyden, walk up to the small table upon it was a dusty box. “Stare into the Void,” she said as nothing happen as she turned around she felt like her soul is escaping her body.
-Chink-
As the lock falls off of the box, the lid opens to reveal an dusty black ring. Weyden
Weyden heard the sound, the lock falls from the box, the lid raises up revealing an dusty black right. 'Ah what is that' Weyden walks up to the box as she picks up the ring to examine it, "Strange markings they must be old English", she said as a thorn from the ring nicks her thumb. "Ow." Trying to read the markings on the ring," War..in..O..ly...Orn..Y..Th...Ing." After a brief period of time, Weyden tries to put it on her ring finger but to her trouble the ring was too big for that finger but just the right size for her thumb.
Just as she put it on her thumb, the wound instantly healed, "Wha....", just as she was about to finish that word her body started to burn like a inferno. She was rendered unconscious as she fell with a thump on the ground, a gently breeze rolled over her body in that enclosed space with that wind a faint ding was hear as Weyden past out.
A blue screen appear near her body, which is continuously dinging for her response.

The Cyclical Nature of Time
A girl’s life ends unexpectedly early, or so it would seem. Instead of eternal nothingness, she wakes up in an empty valley with no clue how she got there. Taking her predicament in stride, she sets out to do something about it. Unfortunately for her, the first couple of people she meets aren’t much help. They claim they haven’t heard of electricity and dress as if they were on a break from their job at a Viking-themed amusement park. MC is a somewhat normal girl. She's pragmatic and not very angsty. The story is tagged with anti-hero, but to be clear, she is not a villain. She does good if she can, she just isn't morally motivated to do so. The story starts out smelling of fantasy but will eventually shift towards sci-fi. It contains some supernatural elements and has a strong lead, but it is not your usual power trip. Expect a story that takes its time, but not to the point where entire chapters are spent on mindless chit-chat. I’m not into that. This is my first serious attempt at writing and I've learnt a lot writing this. Unfortunately, that shows. Chapter 1-10 is slow and rather pointless. Things get better, but it is not until chapter 25 or so that I began understanding how to structure chapters and to make them support the larger story. I publish about 3000 words a week (every sunday) but I write about 10000 words a week. Sticking to that pace, which is easy, the last chapter will be out by July.
