《Fear: Ever-Changing and Evolving》Prologue - Betrayal

(Orange-Eyed Man) ...w-why...?
Barely managing to stutter out this question, the orange-eyed man turns around to look at his friends, no, his betrayers!
(Jake) Sorry, but we can't afford to leave you alone any more.
(Alyssa) We can't afford to let you gain any more power, after all! We don't want you to be stronger than us!
(Riley) We also can't have you taking the credit for killing the Demon Lord! You're not the one who killed the Demon Lord anymore, we're the ones who killed him!
(Nico) And after we valiantly fought the Demon Lord, eventually killing it, a certain "hero" betrayed the rest of us and tried to kill us!
(Alyssa) I see, then we killed the "traitor" and saved humanity from another potential disaster!
(Nico) Indeed, that is how history will record these events.
*shiiirrk*
Pulling the poisoned dagger out of his back, the orange-eyed man collapses to the ground. The other 4 "heroes" watch as he struggles to get back up.
(Jake) It's no use; that's basilisk venom on the dagger. Even YOU can't survive it!
Hearing these words, the man stops struggling. He then glares up at his former friends, and, glaring at them with intense hatred in his eyes, he forces out his last words.
(Orange-Eyed Man) *cough*I will...return...*cough*...and you will all wish...you had never betrayed me...*gasp*...I will...*cough*...remember your names...
(Riley) Yeah, yeah, REAL scary! I REALLY fear you! Now, who wants his helmet? I want his chestplate...
As the 4 betrayers discuss about how to split the man's armor amongst themselves, the man thinks to himself...
(Orange-Eyed Man) ...You may not fear me now...but you will fear me eventually...for fear...is always evolving...
And with those last thoughts, the man lets out his last breath as the poison finishes coursing through his system.
