Chapter 4

Part 1

The early dawn of light emerge several hours later. So does the Princess.

But the first thing she do is, looking direct into my eyes with the blue, round eyes. The sudden sluggishness assault me.

"Tell me what is your name.", her word resounded inside my brain. This feel a lot like truth serum, I told myself. I can fight it but lets go with the flow.

"My name is Harris Cage.", I replied.

"Mr. Harris, why a magician of you caliber lets the Magic Backlash happened last night?", she ask.

Magic Backlash? Could it be the explosion last night? If i remember right, she called

someone name at that time.

" I don't know how to.", I told her the truth.

"Impossible!", she shouted at me and at the same time her tears rolling down her dirty cheeks. Her streaming tears were enough for her to cleaned the soft,pearl white cheeks.

Growl~~~.

Something innocent comes from her. Her face flushes in red. To hide her embarrassed face, she buried her face on her knees while hugging it. The sluggishness before no longer assault me.

" Well then Princess let me hunt us some food.", I said.

Last night, while waiting for the princess to wake up, I spend my time analyzing my skills. My Analyze skill has something call wide area scan like radar. The limit of this skill is 100 KM radius from where I stand.

I scanned the one KM radius from my location.

Hovering in front of me is a rectangular holographic screen with full rose radar. On the edge of it consist of several buttons. Among them is to change the scale,topography, legend selecting, further analysis and many more. On my radar tens of red dots covering the screen while there are sparse number of brown dot and a single white dot behind me. The white dot should be the Princess

What come to my attention is a single large dot, maybe twice the size of the other dot to the east and two group of red dot clashing to the south. Among the two of the red dots groups, one of them clearing cutting down the other numbers.

It seems like a pack of direwolfs is hunting the escaping goblin. On my radar, its explain that the Direwolfs pack is rated 3 to 4 stars while individually they are only a single star monster. Acknowledging the Direwolfs, I make a simple mental note telling me that they are dangerous.

My curiosity then diverted to the large dot.

What the hell with this jungle! How come somebody make a shitty game like this.Dropping the player in the middle of such dangerous jungle. Who in the right mind created such half ass game!

“ I need to control my emotion a little bit.”

The brown dots represent animals: snake,rabbit,boar and likes. My hunting target is a rabbit called Horned Rabbit. Based on the analysis, horned rabbit is a rabbit with a single horn on the top of its head.

Its locations is 300m to the northeast of my position. I invoked my and rushing to the rabbit nest. In my current path, I can't evading every single monsters. The safest path to the rabbit only have several Viners. Using my spear and momentum, I can quickly killed them.

The rabbit that I'm hunting is currently burrowing itself in the underground nest. By the help of my Analyze, I can pinpoint it exact locations and create a trap. Using my Fire Magic, I heated the ground above it. Several minutes later the rabbit rushed toward the exit which I have waited and it.

To make sure that no unwanted guest followed me to the village, I gutted the rabbit and skinned it in the same place I killed it and buried the remain inside the nest. Then I run back to the village .Running in the jungle full of hostile creature is hard and close to impossible, but if it me, I can run this jungle to the village at full speed under a minute. Oh, I also pick some mushrooms and water from the river. The water is put inside a bamboo. I also bring the Viners body or head with me.

The Princess who is waiting for me seems to be praying for the victims last night.

Not to disturb her prayers, I set up small fire.

What I try to cook is something I learn from an old uncle inside the borneo jungle. I cut the rabbit into smaller pieces and stuff it inside the bamboo and some mushrooms with it. Then I plug it with some leaves. This cooking method is called pansuh.

The reason why I make the pansuh or bamboo stew is because the Princess need something soft to eat.

Cook eh. Well I am not a certain main character from certain book ,plus I am a person who is not picky with his food. And certainly I am not anybody cook.

“Mr. Cage, what do you cook?”

“Ah, Your Highness. I am making us some stew.”

“ I see, I want you to know, I never eat any commoner food except from Luna’s.”

“Mind if I ask you something Your Highness? “

“ Just call me Flora, Mr. Cage. Yes, you can ask me any question. I owe you that much.”

“ Then Flora, please call me Cage. Tell me Fiona, how did you end up here?”

“ We are on the way to the border of Alzwei, but something happen. We were ambush by bandits. In order to protect me,one of my knights and Luna took me to the jungle.”

Even though she seem hesitant, she continue her story, “ While we were on the run, a pack of wolf attack us. To protect me , Luna dragged me deeper into the jungle, while the knight stalled the work. Not long after that, we got caught by the goblin.”

“I'm sorry to hear that. But why didn't you bring more knight, I think they should be able to fight the likes of the bandits.”

“ No, it impossible. The Alzwei and Luwe are currently in cold war state. According to Father’s advisor, any large movement of the army may escalate into war.”

“I see, what will you do now then?”

“ I need to return back to the castle, can I ask for your assistance?”

“Let me get thing clear first, Princess Flora. I'm not an adventurer but yes it will be my honor. But. I need some reward.”

“ Yes I understand, I will personally see through it.”

“ Then lets celebrate this occasion.”

My rabbit stew is ready by the time we finish our conversation. As for the bowls, I cut the head of the Viners and carve it into the bowl. Viner head contrary to it look, its actually similar to softwood.

The soup finally readies after several minutes. I poured the contains into two bowl. The soft rabbit meat and fresh mushrooms create a savory and fresh taste unique to pansuh.

“ Oh my! Its taste quite good for something as crude as this.”

“ I think it taste great because you are hungry Flora.”

“Whatever.”

Now I have finished feeding Fiona, lets make some weapon. With my crafting skill is set to the max, I should be able to create a perfect bokken for me. The wood I use is a branch from black ironwood. The wood has perfect heaviness. As for the sheath, I used silverwood. Black ironwood and Silverwood are native to this jungle. The reason why I make some proper weapon is because of last night battle. My magic can cover the long distance battle but nothing that can protect me in close distance.

“well you the truth, I don't actually know.”, I can't really tell her that I’m not from this world right.

“ After you have done eating, We will get to the nearest border town. During hunting, I found out that the main road is located some 900m from our location.”

Right after we finish our lunch, something unexpected were visiting us. Howling from the distance slowly closing in to our location.

“SHIT! Now what? .”

“ It been getting to me as lately Mr.Cage. Please mind the language. But what happen?”

“ Well,that's happen.”

A huge wolf landed in front of us. It stood 2 meter tall, which make it a single head higher than me.But that's not all, it silvery furs make it stand out in the jungle. Truly a majestic wolf. It remind me of my deceased dog.

“ Lets see, how should I tame you?”

“Woi, what do you mean by taming that thing?”

“Mind you language Princess, but I'll managed.”

AUTHOR NOTE: well then folks. Thats the end of this chapter. The food called pansuh is a food, cooked inside the bamboo and put on small bonfire. This food is really popular in Borneo Island and can be found in restaurant that specializes in local food. Its a must when you go to Borneo Island. For more detail do ask Uncle Goo.
