Chapter 5

Part 1

During my military training some 20 years ago, we are given a puppy per person as a part of training. To my luck I was given a husky. Her name is Silver. Silver is puppy with silvery fur with heterochromia. The few month of taking care of her constant barking and playfulness, I finally managed to make her into reliable partner.

My partner,Silver has assisted me in all sort of moment; be it light or dark. She is always there to lift my spirit. But everything change 15 years ago. We were on a mission to extract a vip from an active warzone. We receive an intel that the enemies combatants were waiting for us in an ambush. There was a saying that always in my head, when you know there is an enemy ambush, you can counter it.

My ignorance has brought my team in peril. The enemies outnumbered us 15 to 1. While waiting for the allies to provide aerial support, Silver took a bullet for me. The extraction units were too late to save her.

But right now, a Direwolf is standing infront of me. Her furs remind me greatly to things that I have lost.

Her quick and heavy swipe come quickly toward me. To make sure that her heavy swipe didn't crush me, I use the bokken to intercept and divert the paw.

Woah, that dangerous! If I did not counter it, she could use it as a chance to bite. Slipping to her side , I attacked with my blade.

“Slashing Rain !”

Slashing Rain is a technique that composed of several diagonal slash. Because of it passive skill , It seems like she barely have any damage. But if we are to look at her state, it seems like 10 hp been removed.

“ Flora go hide somewhere!”

“ Yes!”

Because of the damage I inflicted on her, it seems like I managed to aggro her.

Sensing that she cannot take me head on, she quickly leap behind me and lunge toward my leg.

Fast! In order to protect my leg and counter, I rotate my bokken clockwise with both my hand. Originally the technique I am executing now is use to block thrusting weapon such as spear.

“Blademill!”

Instead of parrying the lunge, the blade stopped on her neck. By according to Newton’s Third Law, I used the force to throw myself sideway.

“You’re strong..hehe. I want you!”

Her growl sounded like as if she mocked me. She silently circling me, waiting for the chances to pounce.

In the corner of my right eye, Fiona can be seen hiding behind a rock, a rock just barely enough to cover her small silhouette. But one can see the terror in her face. Trying to warn me something. Warn me?

A silvery shadow dashes from my left. I quickly lift my hand to guard but I was to late. Bam!. The sharp and intense pain rushing toward my brain. I don't remember how many time I rolled on the ground, but right now I am 15 meter from my previous location.

Pulsing pain aside, I know that I have broken ribs and left shoulder dislocated. My prospecting pet Direwolf now didn't seem very lovely. And my health cut down by a third quarter.

“Shit! Now what?”

The Direwolf gritting her teeth, trying to make a final dash to kill me. Damn, is this it? I didn't even enjoyed my life here.

“ Use Flame Shield, IDIOT!”

What!Fiona? What Flame Shield? Oh right!

Magic! I can use magic in this world. How come I didn't think about it.

Using the same principal as MAGNUM. I need a proper image. If it a shield, it got to be Riot Shield.

A flaming riot shield floats an arm length in front of me. Seeing my magic shield, the Direwolf stopped it dashing attempt and wariness were showing on her face.

“Heh, So you noticed it eh. No wonder you are an Alpha.”

Thats right. Instead of normal like it game counterpart, which can only block attack : Both Physical and Magical, my shield has several trick to it. First, it is not static like normal , my version of is I can move it at will.

Woah what is that! Something just flowed into my head. Tutorial eh?. WHY THE HELL IT JUST COME NOW! Where were you when I need you few moment ago. Where were you yesterday. There must be some kind of condition that trigger it.

Well whatever the condition is, I can think about it later.

Let's review my situation now. To subdue her , I need strength, but as of my condition right now, brute force is out of question. My next choice is the Contract Magic and pure magic strength. Contract Magic should be New Game + exclusive, because I never heard of it. So the final choice is magic power.

I invoked an additional 18 shield. The intense heat emanating from it vapourize the sweat on my skin leaving crystallized salt behind.

The float shields rush toward the wolf . Sensing that it spell trouble to her, she quick leaping from side to side evading skillfully with but her luck ran out.

One of the shields bashed her, staggering her. Using that opening, the shields quickly boxed her, trapping her inside a hexagonal shape enclosure.

The intense heat from the shields quickly shaved her health, her erratic struggle slowly but surely slowing down and suddenly a pop-up emerge.

I dispelled the magic shield.Naming huh.

“ Her name will be Silver.”

PET MONSTER HAVE BEEN NAMED

White light engulfed Silver.

“ Cage! Are you okay?”

“ Can I count on you to heal me back?”

“ Sure but I need to check you condition. MY GOSH! How can you fight with broken ribs not to mention the dislocated shoulder, I thought you going to died back then. You promised me you going to escort me back. How can you escort me if you are dead?” , a steady streams of tears broke off washing her cheeks.

“ I’m sorry to make you worried,but right now I’m counting on you.”

“Okay...we need to put your shoulder in place first”, her slender arms suddenly engulfed by faint light and she put her hand on my shoulder.

“ On three, One! Tw.. Ouch! I thought I said on three!”

“ Its because you pissed me off.”

“ Anyway how did you know how to do all of this, and where do you have all the strength in your arm!”

“ Shut up, you are too noisy. Everyone should know that as a healer they need to trained first. They learn about how to patch wound , how to fix bones and all the other stuff.’’

I see, is that the reason why I did not acquired the recovery magic, so there is the condition for everything.

“ Then the strength of your arm?”

“ Oh I thought you know about it, well the kind me will tell you about it”, Fiona declared while puffing her modest chest, just now you cried how come you are so happy now.

Thats weird, I don’t remember seeing reinforcement magic on her stats.

“ Anyway based on your extensive damage, I need to used several ., Oh Spirit that Heal, lend me your power, heal my ally . The calming light from her hand engulfed me and the pain subsided. When I check my stats , health points steadily increase. It seems like I only need two , for complete recovery. And around the same time,

the white light engulfing Silver suddenly gone, and a new Silver emerged.

This new Silver that slowly walks toward me has silvery white fur, her height is shy under 170m, almost the same height as me. She sit in front of me. Her white fur is so soft and thick. Damn, I want to hug her.

“ Damn! Let me hug you!”

“Awoo..”

*poof*

What should be Silver, suddenly turn into a silvery white hair girl in white dress. Her hair tied with a grey ribbon, reminding a person of wolf ears.

“Master is too rough~ awoo”

“........ who are you? Wait, Are you Silver?” I ask monotonously.

*nod,nod*

“ I don't need you, turn back into the wolf.”

*sob,sob*

“Master a meanie!”

*chomp*

“ IT HURTS!”

Startled birds flying away, Fiona staring in disgust,bleeding hand and my health is steadily decrease conclude the afternoon.
