Oh. Nothing. It’s just 1:35 AM PST and j0nn0 couldn’t sleep so he decided to talk about stuff…

What stuff? Well, I’m sure you’ve noticed the current state of RRL 2.5 so that kinda answers your question. Anyways, the bug report and feedback forums are still up in addition to a new, officially released RRL V2.5 thread. It exploded not long after posting and has been active with over 16 pages and growing. I expect RRL issues to continue for the next week and a half before most of the problems get worked out. If you want a full list of current site issues, I suggest looking around for yourself and reporting new problems or just browsing the aforementioned threads. Things will get fixed soon enough, just provide feedback and pointers to bugs so that work for the RRL staff can progress more smoothly during this V2.5 transition.

I hear that this will pretty much solve the past 500 errors we’ve had and set up the forums for easier maintenance, better speed, and reliability for the future of RRL. If you think there’s something that could be improved, don’t be shy to post around the forums.

In other news, the Writers to The End have officially gained their forum branch. Shoutout to Wing for creating that for the group on her birthday and while dealing with the forum explosion following this latest RRL 2.5 slew of problems. *does a wing-wing waddle dance in thanks* Keep up the good work and I hope to see things fixed soon.

In other, other news, RRL is hosting a shiny new contest! I may have mentioned it before but forgot and am unwilling to check, but anyways, it’s got prizes. For all you looking for some green, or even just a shiny new achievement, the prize(s) could be yours for the winning if you just submit something. The theme is “I Shall Seal the Heavens”. For those of you who don’t know, ISSTH is a Chinese WN, also known as Wuxia/XiaXia and focuses on the Chinese lore of martial arts cultivation and ascension. I’ll leave it to you guys to self research if you wanna know more.

UPDATE 4/23/16 12:35 AM PST

Well, it’s been about half a day since RRL 2.5 got rolled back to RRL 2.0, at least on the fictions side of things, and I’m back! The forums are still largely unaffected by that change. Due to much clamoring and headache, the RRL staff have decided to revert the fictions pages to RRL 2.0 for the time being.

Some people claim that the voices complaining in the V2.5 thread above are of the “vocal minority”, but the fact of the matter remains that it was a bad transition due to several factors. One, there was likely too little exposure and advertisement of both the RRL update and beta versions. Two, formatting and BBcode display for the fiction posts was just plain terrible. And three, most, if not all, user interfaces could use a lot of improvement.

I’m all for progress, but with the current ISSTH event cross-advertising and how much work is required for the new version to be usable, it is likely best to revert for now. I look forward to the next RRL update all the same because now it’s sure to be better. When the next update happens, I’ll be here to link most of the relevant threads and point you, dear readers, towards other such resources.
