《The power of an author》Its not over! - chapter 5

The more I kept wandering around this place, the more I understood that I wasn't getting anywhere.
I had no clue where I was going, that's why I had no choice but to keep walking in the same direction.
At first, my body was aching all over the place, but right now my legs were shaking each time I took a step forward. It was really painful! My lips also had become really dry and I could barely move them.
I could feel as my body would collapse at any moment! But I was scared! I didn't want to fall down because I already knew what would happen to me if I do that,
The moment the sun would reach its peak, I could feel my vision moving around. It was as if the whole place was wiggling around. There wasn't even a wind to make things easier for me. The only sound I could hear was my stepping sounds in the sand.
But then the night came once again for the second time.
This was the only time where I could sit down and rest for a bit. But the low temperature wasn't going to make things easier for me. That's why I had to cover myself with the warm sand so I wouldn't freeze to death.
[ *COUGH* *COUGH* ] ( Hiro )
My mouth had become really dry and I could barely speak anymore.
[ W-wa..t...er... ] ( Hiro )
My voice sounded just like an old man who was about to die.
I directed my sight towards the horizon.
I see...so the sun is rising once again...
I thought as I tried relaxing for a few more minutes before I get burned from the sun.
I couldn't resist anymore! It's been almost three days ever since I ate anything!

I blankly stared at the sand in front of me as I thought that. I was tempted again to eat some sand.
There was nothing else I could eat or drink here! I stared at my own hands which were burned from the sun's light.
So this is how I die huh?
I never got the chance to finish my own novel...
I started thinking about the story of my novel as I was playing with the warm sand.
There wasn't anything else I could do. While unconsciously doing stuff in the sand, my mind was filled with the thoughts of drinking some cold water. Just the feeling of having water sliding down my throat was amazing.
I never thought I would miss drinking water this much.
As I kept thinking about water, I started writing "WATER" in the sand. I was so desperate...
The place was becoming brighter and I knew that I had to move. But my legs were saying the opposite. They didn't want to move from this place.
I kept staring at the word "WATER" for a few seconds until the word started glowing.
Huh? What is going on?
I blocked my eyes from the bright light.
The light started expanding for three seconds until it disappeared.
What was that?
When I opened my eyes, in front of me was... a bottle of water?
Huh? Am I hallucinating? Have I finally lost my mind and now my brain is playing tricks?
I reached out to grab the bottle of water as I thought that.
My hands were shaking, I didn't have much strength to move around. But I wasn't going to give up!
Even if the bottle of water was going to disappear the moment I would touch it, I wanted to grab it.
As my hand finally touched the bottle of water, I felt the cold and hard surface of the bottle.

[ Its... it's r-real! ] ( Hiro )
I grabbed the bottle of water and gently opened it with my other hand. My skin had already become dry from the sun and touching this cold water was like relieving the pain in my hands.
As I was trying not to spill the water from my shaky hands, I placed the tip of the bottle on my lips.
Coldwater was coming down my mouth and throat!
ITS REAL WATER!!
I couldn't stop anymore! I started drinking the whole bottle without realizing it!
[ Haaa, Haaa.... ] ( Hiro )
Even though the water wasn't enough to satisfy me, It's been so long ever since I have felt this alive!
But how did that bottle of water appear here?
Did the Pixiya kingdom teleport this to me?
No! They wanted me to suffer in this place! There is no way for them to do that!
But then how did this appear?
As I thought that, I noticed the word "WATER" which just disappeared in front of my eyes.
I rubbed my eyes just in case, sand wasn't messing with my sight.
As I thought for a bit, I started writing in the sand "HAMBURGER" and started staring at it.
But within a second, I started having a terrible headache.
[ AAAGGHH!! ] ( Hiro )
I placed both of my hands over my head.
What is happening to me?!
I started squeezing my head with my hands.
...
But it calmed down after some seconds.
What was that about?
I thought as I looked at the word I had written over the sand.
...
[ It... It worked! ] ( Hiro )
Over the word, "HAMBURGER" was a small corrugated cardboard box that keeps the hamburger warm and fresh.
I opened the box and saw the hamburger that I used to eat sometimes.
I opened my mouth and started eating the hamburger as fast as I could.
I couldn't believe that eating a hamburger was going to be this delicious.
Anytime I was expecting all of this to be nothing more but a hallucination but... it was real!
I was eating real food and fresh water!
But one thing bothered me... if this is another world then how did these things appear here?

Leftover Apocalypse
[Participant in the Royal Road Writathon challenge] This is a story about the newly-adult Calliope Smith having a terrible day that ends in her getting mysteriously teleported from Phoenix, Arizona to a fantasy world where her life is in constant danger. She considers this an upgrade. Someone evil is looking for her, and she doesn't know why. Someone who seems to know a lot about her has promised they'll help her, but she doesn't know who they are. All that matters to Callie is that magic is real and one way or another she's going to learn it. The end of the world is coming up, sure, but Callie won't need to worry about that. In fact, by the time she even finds out about it one of the doomsday devices will already be destroyed, and the authorities will be well on the way to dealing with the other one. It's fine. Everything will be smooth sailing. Almost certainly. Probably. Chapters are usually about 2500-3500 words, and the goal is to post 2-3 per week but I sometimes get busy or have some writers block. It's your standard portal fantasy / Isekai premise, but unlike some the main character's time on Earth and how she got pulled into another world will (eventually) be explored. Some slight GameLit-feeling stuff later, no menus or level-ups but there's something suspiciously like a skill tree when the magic system gets going. No number crunching, and while the main character will get to do some silly stuff she won't be a god like in some fics (and will in fact spend a lot of time being badly outclassed by her enemies). Some reader interaction, ranging from adding to the worldbuilding to occasionally making big important decisions about skill progression. Please note that the main character is flawed and impulsive, and will make some stupid decisions. That's part of the story, but I get that it's not for everyone. Trigger Warnings: Foster care system references, crappy parenting. Some mental health adjacent stuff, specifically the main character has some issues where she experiences varying levels of empathy and emotional vulnerability depending on the day (it's complicated and not meant to portray any real-world conditions). Occasional violence including mention of death and grievous bodily harm, but no detailed descriptions of gore.
